Welcome to the Ya Ya Riverboat

Evening, all! Getting ready to head to sleepy land, but wanted to stop in to see my Ya Ya family first. Had a busy day finishing up the laundry, going on a lunch date with my sweetie :teeth: and then the store. We got our weekly shipment today and I'm hoping I can squeeze a little extra out of my paycheck--cool new stuff I don't think I can live without!!

Paula, my heart goes out to you with your dilemma with Chris. Been there, done that and it had to get a lot worse before it got better. The alternative school was the best thing that ever happened to my DS and he STILL uses many of the carpentry skills he learned there. It also helped him learn to focus better on his own because it was something he WANTED to learn. Prayers and PD headed your way, as always.

Nancy, want some website suggestions for Star Trek shopping?! I got a few, ya know. EVERY ST fan needs their own tricorder and phaser and maybe even a communicator, too! For the condo, how about some nice holiday placemats, cloth napkins and napkin rings?! Love the wedding pix--that first one you posted looks like something out of LOTR--the bride and groom are so much taller than the rest of the wedding party!!

Laine, the kitty is tooooooo precious! Love her coloring and the older cat is simply exquisite! Looks like molten pewter!

Suzanne, I can't wait to hear the outcome to your legal battle with the former landlord! She ain't gonna know what hit her!! How's the therapy going with your mom? I know it's tough on you all. God bless you REAL good--you are such a wonderful daughter to be taking such good care of her. Keeping the prayers going for strength and peace for all concerned.

Welcome to the loony bin.....I mean, Ya Ya Riverboat, Patti! Did you bring a ghost or two along? ;)

Lily, for you, just cuz! You are one heck of a daughter and a mom too! You are so right that we just want what's best for our kids, too bad they often can't see that. I can sooooooo sympathize with the school complication thing  sometimes I wondered if those degrees on the wall in the administrator's office were stolen cuz their actions/attitude sure didn't impress me as being any too smart!!

Well, I'm over at the Grand Californian right now, and the've really given me the VIP treatment since I got here. Last night, I had gotten a call from VIP services offering to help me move my luggage. I told them I didn't have confidence in the staff at the Disneyland Hotel to move my luggage, so I would do it myself. I walked it over myself early this morning.

When I arrived at the Grand Californian, the cast member at the desk called into the back and someone from VIP services came out to great me. My room wasn't ready yet (which I expected considering it was 7:00 in the morning). I was told that they had upgraded me to a pool view room. They took my cell phone number, and said they would call me when the room was ready.

So, I headed off to the parks. The parks were extremely busy, with long lines for everything! I can't believe all the people! It's crazy here!

Had lunch at Blue Bayou, and got the Monte Cristo. I wasn't that impressed. They really push you out of there. I was in and out of the restaurant in about 30 minutes! It was nuts!

When I finally got the call that my room was ready, someone from Guest Services came out to greet me. She gave me two breakfast vouchers and a dinner voucher. I just had dinner at Storytellers, and it was excellent (and my server was nice ;) I could either order off the menu or get the buffet. I opted to order off the menu, getting a mixed field green salad, and filet mignon with mashed potatoes. Everything was fantastic!

Tonight, I did the Imagination to Celebration tour, which was very fun. There were only 10 of us on the tour. There was a nice family from Washington State on the tour with me. They are doing a four hour VIP tour tomorrow evening, and they invited me to join them! It includes VIP fireworks seating from the train station! So, that should be fun.

Oh, and I forgot to mention my upgrated room view. I can see the pool, but I also have a great view of California Adventure! My room faces California Screamin', and the Ferris Wheel. If I stand out on my balcony, I can see the Tower of Terror, and Grizzly Peak (is that what that's called?).

So, I'll just say that it is a lot nicer over here, and they are trying to make things extra special for me here (although I'll be sick of Storytellers by the end of my trip--I'll be eating five meals there!).

I need some ideas. Where else better to come :teeth:
I'm in the Christmas present exchange......no ideas are coming to me.
One person only put down that she is decorating a condo in Celebration......no other help.
Any ideas?

the other.....a man  ;) Likes NASCAR, black labs (as in dogs ;) ), hunting and scifi.
What to do, what to do?.

Nancy -
Can you get any specific details? Does the man like NASCAR in general - as does he have a favortie driver? (i.e. Rusty Wallace, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.) WalMart and the drug stores have nice NASCAR calendars, mugs, even gift sets with cereal bowls.

Paula's suggestion of Cabelas is a good one. They have Black Lab and hunting ornaments, as well as wall prints.

SciFi.... hmmmmm.... would need more details for that one.

Condo: does she have a decorating theme? That's a tough one! Maybe some Disney towels or prints? Disney magnets for the frig.

JRKaren,
Glad to hear that you are finally having a good hotel experience. The room and view sound wonderful!

Bet you will have a blast tonight! That was nice of the family to invite you along! :)

Morning all, I am a bit tired today. Slept better than usual, but boy my eyes are gucky today! I forgot to prop my head a little last night so guess where a lot of the sinus guck went to ;) Not sure if I will make it out to see the love of my life today... err... I mean Elizabethtown it all depends on my energy level and times of shows :)

Anywho...

I was thinking some for you Nancy, but what I was going to suggest for the guy (black lab ornaments and hte like) was taken. Don't know much about Nascar or hunting (sorry Pam)

As for the condo owner, I would just look for a few cute Disney Christmas items (Fab 5 mostly) and then some generic Christmas things like kitchen towels or maybe some Christmasy looking candle (for pretty arangements)

Suzanne, good luck with that CLL of yours! I am so sorry it will be expensive. And good luck with the kitty. If you are going to a breeder, then check out the Siberian Forest Cat. One of the least hypo-allergenic out there. Actually the Norweigan Forest Cat and Maine Coon aren't terrible with the allergies either. At least they don't bother me near as much as short or really long haired pets do.

Howdy Patti :wave2: Nice of you to stop in!

Nancy, as of now, they are just calling her "the kitten" or "she" so really nothing ;) They called her "Pretty" at the other place, but that won't stick. They had thought of Oreo, but didn't like it either. You can suggest, but being my sister and I aren't too much alike in thought, I can't say if it would be a good suggestion or not ;)
But I would definitely pass them on saying they were suggestions by others seeing the kitten :teeth:

Bethie, sounds like you had a good day! I think this is the happiest I've heard you in a while. I take it you re loving your new job then? :)

Wow, nice improvement there in service, Karen! Sounds like you are getting treated wonderfully there! I hope that the rest of your stay will be a great one (crowds and all) Oh and it's Grizzly River Run :p Sounds like an awesome view you have there! I bet tonight will be awesome! So sweet of them to invite you along!

Good morning Pam :love2:

:moped: Quick good morning to all....

going out to breakfast with my dad and then to Walmart....

I'll ketchup later.... Anyone seeing the sun this morning??? I'm not......

Morning!

No school today, so I was able to sleep in an extra 1 1/2 hours. :bounce: I needed it.
No baby today either, but I do have to watch the neighbor's DD for a couple hours.

Nancy, great pics. :)

Elaine, such cute kitties!! ::yes::

No sun here yet, either, Paula. :(

My youngest SIL (in FL) got a job at the Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney! :bounce: She is very excited!!

No sun..:(

Thanks for all the ideas.
I have no other details. Sci-Fi is too general, I know  So not sure about ST things.
I watched an interesting movie at Geoff's...that will be my backup plan. Equilibrium, anyone seen it. Kind of a Matrix like movie.
I think I will take a look at Wal-Mart today for the NASCAR things.....maybe a cap and then something else.
I do have a set of placemats. Might send those....and heaven knows, I have candles
Thanks for all the ideas.

I'm going to Christin's this morning. She gets to look at wedding pictures and then we are headed to Wal-Mart. She needs a new microwave :(
Then to the mall for a bit and out to lunch.

Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning Gang! Yes the :sunny: is out in full here. So, nice after all the overcast days we have had here. Also, it is definitely starting to change to fall whether yippee!!! :Pinkbounc

I start my new job on Mon. so I'll be moving all my stuff this afternoon. My new glorified title is : Asst Underwriting Analyst. Doesn't that sound impressive? :teeth:

AND last but, not least I have a "date" tonight. So, I'm all :goodvibes today and it's hard to get any work done.

Nancy-Love the pics.
Elaine- can't see kitty pics from here :(
Paula- I can so totally relate to the kid/school problem. Mine has decided he does not like school and doesn't see any reason he needs to go

and how about I just posted that last post and I wasn;t done yet ;)
Must have too much on my mind :earseek:

:wave2: Bethie -

Ok, know there was more to say but, I better start looking like I'm working at least for a little bit

Oh, I forgot to say.....Geoff and M'Cori called their kitty Little One while they were thinking of a name for him.....he is 2 and has a name and that is what they still call him.....it became a habit fast.
Of course with a name like Archemedes....I still call him that too :roltfl:

And...yes, the pictures with Geoff and M'Cori so much taller are distracting to me  I was not impressed with the photographer.
They are taller than everyone anyway, they should not have been up on a step.

Paula, would you believe it, the SUN came out!!! Or so I saw after I went to the movie :)

Sherry, congrats to your SIL! That's great news! Let us know when we can bug her when we go down next :p And yay for sleeping in :teeth:

Nancy, good luck shopping! Those could be some interesting exchanges to buy for! And hope you enjoy the time with Christin :)

Congratulations Rose Mary! Does indeed sound like a good title :teeth: Sorry you can't see the kitty pics... hopefully you can see this one

stretch.jpg

LOL, I could see this one fitting with Little Kitty quite well :)

Oh and Nancy, I noticed that about the pics... I thought that looked odd too. Not like someone like me was there and had everyone towering over them :p

Did see Elizabethtown. I had heard mixed reviews on it. Our paper didn't care for it, so I was thinking I would like it. It's a laid back kind of movie... one you just have time for and not expecting a lot out of. I'd say about the same level of "activity" as Beaches. But there were points it was just rediculously funny. At least to me. Orli looked hot... Kirsten was charming and both had cute little accents. Not bad, but don't go looking for something very complex or anything like that. It surprised me though a few times and I liked the ending... very cute point about life :)

HI everyone - what a great day I had with my dad!!

We went out for breakfast - then to Walmart - bought alot of stuff not ion the list and could not find some of the stuff on the list.....then to Dunkin Donuts for a snack!! I got a smile out of Chris - at Walmart I was able to find the "matchbox" version of the car he wants !!! Bought Halloween lights and socks for Alyssa. Wanted a new shower curtain and rug but could not find anything in the right color green. Also could not find scrub pants in Chris size so I guess I'll be off to amother Walmart tomorrow.

I had a brief yet very good conversation with Chris today - in the car of course -the best place - he started telling me that he only has 1 teacher that won't let him put his head down in class so I asked why did he need to put his head down - he says "I feel sick in school every day" - headache - stomachache - light headed - I ask do you think you should try eating in the morning? - he says I've tried - I ask to you only feel this way in school? - he says sometimes but mostly every day in school - "but I'm ok with it" - I told him that we need to talk about this more because even though he may think he is ok with it I'm sure it is effecting his school performance (he told me the teachers let him put his head down but they don't know it's because he does not feel good - so I'm quite sure they are getting the wrong impression because he won't say anything). Right now he is getting a haircut then out with friends doing more car things......

Elaine - loved the kitten pics.....makes me want one.....
Nancy - guess it's Walmart day all around - hope you are having fun.
Sherry - woohoo for your SIL and her new job - she's be shouting "VOLCANO" in no time!!
Pam - I knew you would chime in with gifr ideas for Nancy's exchange.
JR Karen - sounds like the Dusney Magic is returning - good to hear!!
Beth -
Suzanne
Tara - I noticed that you have a Christmas Mickey in your siggie - yikes - guess I'd better starting thinking about that......

I'm working tonite so not sure if I will be reading or posting- my system always jams - running too many things at once......

Hope everyone has a good night.....

:wave2: Good to hear about the movie, Elaine. I am going with Christin sometime when our schedules will allow it.
We only got to Wal-Mart for a quick in for a microwave.
Disney Store for toppers!! :bounce: Got those 3 new ones :teeth:
BaB.... Wally got the Indian outfit for Thanksgiving. If the new guys arrive before then, one will have to wear it for Halloween....otherwise not enough costumes ;)

I then went to see Corpse Bride. :teeth: It was good....I don't usually go for that kind of movie....but this had a certain draw for me :rotfl:

Took an hour to get home  because of road construction. Waste of gas :(

Had a message waiting from M'Cori that she go the job she applied for ....well, one of them.
Summer internship...yep, they are already lining those up.

Evening, all.

Gotta head to bed in a few-now I'm going in at 7. At least this means I get out at 3:30! Hope Ed gets off of work early, too.

Elaine, my mom had a Maine Coon-love them. Didn't have any trouble with Beggar. Jill's got a Maine coon as well. Figuring that since I'm going to resume the allergist thing, if I go for shots, it'll be fine. In moving down here, the mold allergy has really been a bear, so shots for that are definitely happening.

No hlp on the name-gotta say, Jill's cats all have unique names. I think I'm probably going to enlist her help if we do get a kitty, lol!

I'll check in tomorrow.

Suzanne

Hey Ya'll! Been playin' domestic goddess and losing, today. Laundry is doing OK, but the rest of the house is still in need of some TLC. Finally got around to trying Paula's Sour Cream Cinnamon Muffins and they smell divine!! Can't wait till Dave gets home so I can have one for dessert!! Worked on some T-shirt designs and got a couple done for birthdays. Made one for my manager's son who will be celebrating his 6th birthday at WDW next weekend. It is soooo cute--a royal blue mickey head icon with his name and a gold crown on it that says "Today is My Birthday--Feel Free to Treat Me Like a Prince!"

Yes, Elaine, I am still loving my new job, just took me longer to recover from that overnighter than I expected. Been tired and cranky all week and just started feeling more like myself yesterday. Gettin' old is the pits, let me tell ya! And I found out we have to do inventory like that every 6 months. sigh..... Hopefully, it will go a lot better next time because more of us will know what to expect.

Rose Mary got :sunny: No fair!!! We got all the rain we needed, now we want some of that sunshine! LOL!! HUGE congratulations on the promotion! You go, girl! Now, can't wait to hear about the date tonight! Hope all goes well and it's everything you want it to be and more!

:rotfl: Boy am I out of touch!! I thought you were going to visit a town/city named Elizabethtown, Laine!! I haven't been keeping up and had no idea it was a movie!!! DUH!!!! Just put me in a safe place and see that I'm fed and watered regularly, please....... :rolleyes1

Awww, Paula! Poor Chris!! You're absolutely right--it's something that needs to be brought up to the doctor. While it could easily be psychosomatic, it might also be low blood sugar. When my DS came home from the hospital, he would actually pass out occasionally--usually from getting up from laying on the couch. Doc said it was low blood sugar from not eating coupled with the meds he was taking. Still, could not convince the kid to eat, so, at the dr's suggestion, we made sure there were always plenty of fruit juices on hand that he liked, so he took his meds with something better than just water. Boy could drink like a fish but would only eat after about 4PM!!

Sherry, sleepin' in felt gooooood, didn't it?! :teeth: So cool that your SIL will be serving at RFC!! Definitely must see about visiting her when we are there in November!

Hi Tara!! Bye, Tara!!! Come baaaaaaaaaack!!!!

Sounds like a good day for ya, Nancy!! Our TDS here never seems to have any of the new toppers  Can't wait to see Wally in the Indian outfit, too! Gotta finish getting my kids into their new duds so we can do a family portrait. So, how soon do you expect to receive the Georges and the Spice Kids?

Time to turn the 'puter over to Dave, he doesn't have internet at work, so I don't get to play online all evening when I'm home anymore. Oh well.....I have my days off, at least! See ya'll later!! :grouphug:

It is a night like tonight that I miss Betty. I remember staying up with her and Marilyn and Kim until 3:00 am on a Friday night/Saturday morning. We were so out of control!! :rotfl:

Hi all!

Yippeee! It's Frrriiiiday! I am so glad.

Yay for new toppers. I got some too. Thanks for the heads up on those Suzanne.

Elaine, so sorry that you are still feeling yucky.

Sherry, hope ya had a great break today.

Nancy, glad she got things going for that new job. I'm sure that is a relief.

Paula, glad you had some talk time.

RM, congrats on the new appointment. Hope you had a great time tonight.

JRKaren, hope this part of your stay more than makes up for the first part. Sounds like you have met a good family. I'm sure that tour was great.

Beth, thanks! :teeth: Glad you are enjoying that domestic goddess stuff. Well it at least sounds like it. It also sounds like you actually LIKE going to work now. I really hope that stays that way for you. It is the best when that happens.

Pam, go knock on her windows! Maybe she'll come out and play.

It was a nice day around here. I wish I could have enjoyed it outdoors more. I did manage to get a lunch time stroll in the park. It was beautiful. DH and I went for our usual Friday dinner then came back to face some work in our office. Some bills paid and things straightened a bit. What a date night. He works tomorrow and I will do the domestic thing and also some work I brought home and of course I must get my steps in. I am due for many steps this weekend. DS said he thought he would go with me tomorrow. I am looking forward to it. Hope it works out.

That's it...g'nite all.

Hi all... movie night here so spent time with Luis. Was feeling better towards the end of the day. I was wrong with a few things though... I thought it was allergies... okay that was right. Then I thought it was a cold... *that* I was wrong on. So now that I messed up on that I am a day or two behind on the sinus congestion (teeny bit infected). So I'll work on that this weekend and all will be good. I wish I had gone with my gut instinct and saved myself a day or two of yuck.

Head hurts though... so I am heading to bed. Catch up and y'all in the morning :)
