Morning everyone!

I'm happy to report that we've warmed up to 25 degrees this morning - and no more wind chill! Still too cold for my taste, but I'm brave enough to walk around outside again. ;) U of Miami continues to give me grief - they emailed me last night and said they hadn't received a bunch of things from me yet, most of which they should have gotten between October and the beginning of this month. I think the problem is on their end (in more ways than one), so hopefully that'll get resolved today. They seem like a nice school but boy, they've been a hassle so far. Oh well .. I'll try to think happy thoughts today.

Morning ketchup time!

Thanks to everyone who answered my 'whatsa EOIP' question. I'll have to try one of those sometime. ;)

Kimmar, hope you can find some time to de-stress before the holidays are over.

Karen, are the antibiotics kicking in yet? Hope you're feeling better soon. Your husband's company sounds wonderful. It's so nice that they did that for underpriviledged kids.

Alan, those pictures are so funny. Do you know the original context of the nice 1950's-looking women tying up that man? Weird, funny pic.

JRKaren, YaYas Invade New York? Will there be nekkid dancing? ;) I'll have to check out that trip report.

Tara, peanut butter cookies! Ooh, any left? :teeth:

Elaine, glad you dinner was nice. Hope the dryer got going eventually. ;)

Suzanne, glad you didn't oversleep, at least! lol I did that once for work .. woke up at 2:30, and with my non-contact lensed eyes convinced myself it was 5:30.

Amanda, sounds like a busy week! Hope you find some time to relax too.

Ok, it's either time for working or trip report ... hmm .. decisions, decisions. Have a great morning, everyone!

Good morning!!

My one and only student isn't here yet this morning so I can play for a bit!!

Jeanne...I was just kidding I knew who Jude was!! He's the one the Beatles were singing about! How could you think I really didn't know who he was!!! sheesh!

Oh, and yes the biggun is Jarrod!! You done good. And you are right he does still have those devilious eyes! He is trouble with a capital T!

Had a holiday breakfast this morning but I'm over these people so I didn't participate. I went and watched but I didn't join!

We are up to about 26 degrees so far, but it is supposed to be 47 today. By Thursday it is supposed to be 63 degrees. Then on Christmas it will be 32 degrees.

Oh, gotta run, i'm late now!!

Ahhhh sickies over here. I have to take 2 kids to the dr today. Matthew who has been congested, sore throat and cough--on top of that he could only stay home one day because its the end of the semester and he has tests and all that stuff and Connor who is very congested sounds like its moving down to his chest, fever and a cough.
Travis' mom is coming to pick him up tomorrow. He only wants to stay a day or 2 but will probably stay til Sunday. The boys will open their presents to each other when he gets back.
Michael has to work tonight and the next to til 11:30 at night and Christmas eve 11am-6pm.

Hi Ya Yas!
I've read, but ketchups have been performed by so many, that I too am going to ride the coat tails this time.

Have a Christmas lunch with everyone here and time away from our desks.

PD to all to either remain healthy or get well.

Amanda, you make me tired just listening to all you have to do this week! Good luck with it all! And yep, those games can really control them...

Caroline, good luck dealing with U of Miami! Sounds like a real pain!! Oh and yes, the dryer was done, but I had to put everything in there myself. Luis did offer to take the clothes out and make sure what I wanted to wear today didn't get wrinkled. He's forgiven ;)

Tara, was that your co-workers you had a breakfast with this morning? I am slow so forgive me ;)

Deena, I do hope your sickies are feeling much better soon!!! I also hope Travis has a good weekend with his Mom.

Enjoy lunch Lily!!!

but I just found out a firend of mine will be here for the week next week! Oh boy! I am so excited!! Soooooooo, there is tons of stuff to get done!!!! Lots of cleaning and planning to do!! I am quite excited!!

Amanda and Todd, hope you don't mind a tag along in Indy!!! I am planning on being there about noon or so. I hear she is pretty fond of Disney too!!! Looking forward to meeting up with you guys!!

JRKaren, great trip reports!! Thanks for taking my pizza order!! Come to think of it, I am still waiting for it to get here!! Can't wait to read the rest of your week via reports!!

Caroline, good luck with those apps! I have to think that Miami is sounding like the best choice right now...especially given the weather conditions right now!!

Deena, Karen, Suzanne and whomever else is not feeling up to snuff.......feel better soon! No sickies for the holidays!!

Pam, it is very cold here too! Good luck with all that warming up! Not an easy thing to do on these cold days!!! Maybe you need to suck up to the boss again.......I heard you gave him a very nice boss's day present....and just think....there is Christmas to worry about now too!! :earseek:

Lily, enjoy your holiday lunch...and your time away from your desk!!!

Lainey, hope things are going well for you!!! Don't work too hard! Any chance of you coming over for the Indy meet? It would be nice to see you again!!

Ok, well I have lots to do!!! Hope everybody is having a great day!! :grouphug: to all and of course, mad, mad, mad, mad love to all!!!

 Kimar!! How are things going for you?

Nancy, I haven't seen mcuh of you lately! Hope you are getting your puter problems worked out!!! I know how lost I would be without my puter!!! Hope your DS can get it all straightend out for you!! Enjoy your visit with the kiddos!!

Boo, how were the bagels? I am betting they were yummy!!! Anymore baking going on at your hous?

Tara, how is your day going? One student....that's it? Hope your day is going well!!

Drive by here, on my way into work.

Grrr, Bank of America sent me a Visa offer last Tuesday-I applied online and got approved. Still no card, yet they've sent me TWO more preapproved offers and an email welcoming me to Bank of America Credit Card services!

Payday's not til Thursday, Grrr!

Suzanne

Cassie won a coloring contest......Mandy probably isn't happy about it. Cassie has a winners thing going on. At the beginning of the month she won a drawing at the breakfast with Santa, although the prize was more adult (candle, ribbon, etc).

So excited Liz and a secret guest will be joining us in Indy. Serena is also suppose to meet up with us, once she knows her work schedule. How exciting....

Howdy all! Kind of tired here... long day with weird things going on. Nothing bad, but just different ;) Some things were easy to deal with and others... well I never do deal well :o

:wave2: Hi Kimmar!

Liz, definitely not working too hard... not at work at least :p Sadly no way I can go to Indy at all. That is my brother's last day here and I would feel bad leaving for that day. Plus Luis'll kill me if I make him go anywhere else save the cabin next week. It's our "time off" and we plan to do nothing :p

Suzanne, sorry about that... hope you can get by though!

Congratulations to Cassie! That is great! I could imagine how Many feels though... been there myself once or twice :rolleyes1

Off to lay down and read I think...just being going non stop this week so far.

Afternoon, Ya Yas sistahs and bothers! Been keeping pretty busy here at work, but I'm going to try to work on a good ketchup! Might even be able to get it done before 5!!

Bethie, yay for garage, boo for moving. If you got a place along 7, it's possible that my friend DeAnna is the leasing agent. She used to work/live in the one near Lansdowne and now is in the one behind Gold's Gym!
No, Suzanne, it's down at the southern end of Manassas. And now we've changed our minds--what we saved on rent we would spend on gas and upkeep on the vehicles. and I just don't think the aggravation that commute would cause is worth it. so, we're staying put for now. Sounds like YOUR house is coming right along, though!!! Hope you can kick that cough and feel all better VERY soon!!

What state might Dave be getting a new job in??
That's exactly what we don't know, Deena! He's looking just about ANYwhere because his training is so specialized. Jobs for Unisys mainframe computer operators are VERY few and far between. Sorry to hear that you have sickies in the house, too. Sending that PD fairy over with a truckload of get well PD!! Definitely NOT fun to be sick for the holidays!

....well, DS is feeling MUCH better (still on meds), but now DH is getting a cough/sneezing/etc.... :guilty: I am EXHAUSTED from the cleaning/decorating/shopping/working/doctoring. . . Calgon, take me away.... :teleport:
Wherever Calgon is taking you, can I go too??!!! Sorry to hear you have another sickie on your hands!! I have added you to the order I gave the PD fairy---don't worry, she's like Santa and can visit any number of people all in a day!! Hang in there, girlie, the weekend is coming and you can just flop!!!

Caroline, I'm so glad to hear it warmed up a bit for you!! Much as I love snow and cold weather, those negative numbers don't thrill me one bit!! Sure makes it feel like Christmas, though, doesn't it?! Glad to hear you got all your apps out, but U of Miami--that just stinks!!! You'd think they were gov't or something, asking for stuff you already sent! Hope things get straightened out for you quickly and the rest of this process is smooth sailing.

We baked sugar cookies (with pilsbury's help) and we made homemade snickerdoodles!!, we saw Christmas lights, we went visiting, and saw Santa Clause...
OMG, Tara!!!! What a gorgeous picture!!!!! Yes, Jar does have a little devilish light in his eyes, but they are both just sooooooooo great-looking!! I haven't made a single cookie yet and am thinking I might need some help from the "Dough Boy" too. Sigh......I have been soooo ambitious in years past and just can't seem to get into it this year.

Hey, Liz!! Great to hear you've moved out of the "Dark Ages" and gotten a DVD player!! Hoping some of those new toppers might be heading my way--I never saw the Piglet ones down there!!! Little Liz is on her way to you, now, with a few little souvenirs I saved for you from WDW.......the barf bag she used on MS, the stick from my Mickey Bar, the cup from my frozen cappucino, a handful of napkins, and the like. Oh, and that Indiana Jones topper we found!

Beth you are one BUSY woman. I honestly don't know how you do it...and remain to stay positive at the same time. Can you give me lessons?
{{{{{{{{{Kristy}}}}}}}} I have to stay busy to keep my mind off being an empty-nester. Christmas is especially hard without my kids around. So I try to use Liz's trick and live vicariously thru all the stories you all tell here on the DIS and babysit the princesses at church as often as I can! Speaking of princesses.......Dakota is looking positively adorable in her Christmas "garb"!!! Love the stocking!!! High five to ya on your final grades this semester, too!! Be glad to help ya learn to count to 10 in Spanish now!!

Nancy, I'm so glad to hear your BIL made it home from the hospital, finally! It certainly HAS been a long haul for him!! Very sorry to hear of your computer woes, though. Hope that will get taken care of soon and you will be :) :) :) again!! Kudos to Geoff on his promotion, too!! Now he can chip in for the wedding!!!!!!!

Miss Karen!!! You bad sick again??!!!! PLEASE, please take it easy!! You scared the bejeebers out of us last year and I know you don't want to end up back in the hospital. Hope the meds are helping and the boss is not pushing you too hard. I know how it is when you run out of paid time off and I understand about not being able to stay home. Just be careful and promise you'll stay down all weekend?!! OK, big sister hat off.......glad to hear the play at church went off OK. I bet the boys looked great, too! Did you get any pictures you could share? An angel and a king---wow!!!

Jeannie, please order me a dozen sesame seed bagels from your personal bagel baker! LOL!!! WoW!! What a guy to be making bagels for his sweetie!!! So how are your cookies coming? I have to skip most of the rolled/cut out cookie recipies--mine never turn out well. Drop cookies, bar cookies, or the little balls, I can do. So, any plans afoot for making your first married Christmas something special?

What's this I hear about all the snow in northern Indiana and Ohio?! Lily's been shoveling--how many times??!!! Holy cow!!! We got some flurries thru here and the cold hit us (all the way down to 8º, yesterday), but that's all.

Well, here it is 5:45PM and I still haven't finished the ketchupping I started at lunch! Headed out to play in traffic now--see ya from home!

Just a quick drop in to let you all know that the rest of my trip report has been posted.

JellyrollsKaren

Cassie's prize was a stuffed Mickey and $5 gc to McDonalds....she picked Mickey over Eeyore.

Elaine...enjoy your brother being in town.

Getting tired eyes....off to bed.

evening ketchup...here I sit with a glass of white zin, Jarrod at his dad's, ethan in bed asleep, and mom snoring on the couch. Oh what a peaceful end to a rather hectic day...so much for my boring day I thought I would have.

As soon as I finished my last post I went to my mainstream math class. You would have thought these were 1st graders. example:
Teacher: quickly everyone in your group divide up the jobs 1-4.
(class chatter everyone is busy picking their numbers...except the table nearest me...there they sit staring at each other not knowing how to count to 4, so I do it for them!
Me: one, two, three, four. done
Teacher then continues with the directions, in the back Josh raises his hand
Josh: can I be number one?
Teacher: you were supposed to have already decided that
Josh: I should be number one since I'm in the back
Teacher: You should have already chosen a number
Teacher then proceeds to finish explaining the assignment (walk around and ask people how many letters in their first and last names combined...then they were completing several different types of graphs...easy!)
Bradley (same table as Josh): Can I be number one?
Josh: Hey we were supposed to do rock, paper, scissors
Teacher: ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR...NOW YOU EACH HAVE A NUMBER
Josh: but.....I wanna...
Me shaking my head thinking that this can't be a middle school classroom. Needless to say it went down hill from there. A very simple assignment turned into the recreation of E=MC2! Oy vey!

The best part is that I agreed to go back in tomorrow morning and help again! I must be a glutton for punishment.

Elaine....this was the rest of the special ed dept. and I'm not feeling the love towards my admin person and her being there just frosted my wheaties! Unfortunatley, she likes me and thinks we have bonded some how  apparently she has her own version of Happy Crack!!

Liz...it is one student for resource 4 bells a day. I hate it because he autistic on top of deaf so he is not very easy to make head way with and if he doesn't feel like working I can't get him to do anything so I end up with another wasted day.

Beth...the pilsbury cookies were perfect and I now know why I was so hell bent on getting those cookies done...apparently I was PMS and didn't realize it. So I cooked and cleaned like a fool! Now I feel like crap!

Amanda...congrats to cassie for her winning. My brother was the one who always won contests, made better grades, and generally showed me up! But that's okay. I work in a fine field making so so money and squander it all on my kids and my trips. He on the other hand has an executive job making boocoo bucks, drives a fancy car, has a garage, and is too cheap to enjoy a trip to Disney world!! hehehe Actually, we get along beautifully even if we don't live the same kind of life!

Karen...headed to read your trip report and was summoned to class...so I will try again tomorrow!

Folks, please forgive me for not getting my Christmas cards out yet...I still haven't even finished shopping yet let alone finished my cards. That is my goal for tomorrow! Hopefully it will work out that way!

Okay, methinks I'm gonna chug the rest of my wine, shut down the computer and remove my sorry carcass to bed. Stay warm all and I'll check in tomorrow am!!

hugs,
tara

Hi all,

This is an EOIP vent (my first official one - haha). U of Miami sent me back a (rather terse) email saying they found my GRE scores (how they got lost is an unsolved mystery, apparently). But haven't received 2 of my recommendation letters (one sent in early November and one on Dec 8) or my transcript (which according to my university was sent Fed Ex on Dec 6, and it better have been considering it cost me $50 to do it).

The Dec 8 letter I can understand (*maybe*) not being there yet, but the other stuff should have easily arrived by now. How do I ask them nicely to look around the office again, 'cuz I know they're most likely wrong?

sigh :(

:wave2:
Quick in and out.
Got to get up early to go to the airport. My baby boy is coming home!! :teeth:
This computer is no fun....just gets me frustrated, so I am not coming online much these days :( Hopefully that will be fixed by the end of the week....if fixable.

Thank you to Tina for the card.

EOIP....here too. Seems to be a lot of that these days.

Hey all,

Been up most of the night. I thought I was turning a corner with this thing but I have been a mess most of the night between coughing and shivering. Right now Im desperately waiting for the coffee to finish making so I can get something warm into me. Hopefully that will stop the shivering. Im not feverish that I can feel so Im not sure where the shivering is coming from. I have been up since 2 AM. I just want this to GO AWAY!

Suzanne I hope you are feeling better. I've been saying prayers for your quick recovery.

Deena Im so sorry your guys are not feeling well either. Prayers going out for them too.

Caroline Im so sorry you are having so much trouble with U of M.

Karen I would love to attend a New York Ya Ya meet but alas I don't fly. I have never been to the City and would love to go sometime.

Tara I haven't gotten my Chirstmas Cards out yet either. I figure you will all get them around the New Year at this rate. Ive just been too busy and sick to get to them.

Bethie have you been able to work out the possibility of having to break your lease with the current landlords? Are they willing to work with you on it? Sounds like you have been a busy beaver recently. Ya know you can always call your nephews in Florida if you want a dose of kid Christmas! They love talking to their Auntie Beth.

Amanda congrats to Cassie on winning that prize. Believe it or not we have competition in my house when one or the other wins something and mine are 4.5 years apart LOL.

Well I guess Im gonna go take a warm shower and see if I can warm up these shivering bones.

Hope everyone has a SUPER SPECTACULAR DAY!!!

HUGS!!!

Morning everyone....sleet started here around 6:30am, right as I was arriving at work. Just hope I don't get snowed in here.

Caroline...good luck with the university finding your stuff.

For those still sick...pixie dust on you getting better soon, atleast before Friday. :wizard: Pixie dust for those who aren't sick to stay well through the holidays.

Morning all! Just didn't feel like checking in last night after I got home. Too tired and lazy I guess. Dinner was good though. I think I'm going to suggest pot rost for my friends next week at the cabin.

We have some storms coming through that should dump about a foot of snow on us for Christmas. Then Christmas itself will be warm with highs in the single digits... lows below zero. And my sweetie won't move south :p

Bethie, tell them to quit working you so hard!!! ;)

Tara, sounds like a heck of a day for you! I do hope today is a better one for you  And Happy Crack??? If you find out where she got it from, can ya share with the rest of us? :teeth:

Caroline, that is unbelievable what they are doing!! I do hope that they will find it all soon! Does fed ex have some sort of tracking you can use to prove it was sent? Good luck!

Nancy, enjoy your time with your DS! I bet you are thrilled with that!!! And sorry about the frustrations with the computer :( I hope it will be fixed up soon.

Karen, hope you turn the corner soon. Take it easy if you can!

Was hoping to go home early because of the snow, but my manager came in..no going home early now.
