Well this weekend has turned out crappy so far. First Im not in Disney where I should be. Then dh and I get into about being a secret santa for our neighbor. Then we talk to Dh's parents and ask them about keeping the kids overnight tonight instead of us picking them up after dh's Christmas Party which wont end untill midnight and they said NOPE!! Now they have to wake the kids up at about 12:30 when we get to their condo, trek them downstairs, and then we have to try and get them back to sleep when we get home!! We were more than willing to pick them up very very early tomorrow morning so that we didnt mess up their church schedule but no go. I guess I should be happy that they are watching them at all but still geez. Im almost tempted just not to go to the party. (the only angry smiliey I could find)

Maybe your DH should talk to his parents and ask them nicely(?) After all, aren't they [your children] your in-laws' grandkids???? What was the reason behind them not allowing the kids to stay over? (BTW ~ how old are your children?) Maybe you should seek a sleep-in babysitter for that night...just a thought!

I just saw the cutest topper on Ebay.....it is a Mickey with a safari hat on.....very cute!!! I do have an expert keeping a close eye out for them!! I will let you know what she is able to find!!

Karen called and she has arrived in the World. It is a bit overcast and kinda cool.....a chilly 65......I guess the order I palced for perfectweather has not yet arrived!! Maybe tomorow!!

Not much going on here....decided NOT to put up the tree. I am in a bit of a bah humbug kind of mood. Karen I feel your pain! Wish I was there and not here!

Off to get some cleaning and some laundry done. Maybe that will help me feel better......

Kimmar dh did talk to them and they said no to him.

Yep they are their grandkids.


My kids are almost 11 and 6.5.

As late as we are dropping them off....the party doesnt start until 8:00 and we are dropping them off at 7:00.....they really will only have a short time with them up before they have to give meds and the kids would be asleep. It isn't about the meds either because they will still have to give them. We cannot give them when we get them home as it would be too late.

We dont ask them to watch the kids all that often. Dh and I have been alone together exactly twice in 6.5 years. Once we went to my office christmas party after my boss passed away and we were over to pick them up by 10:00 and once last year they watched them all night at Disney because it was our 20th anniversary and they took them after the vow renewal and reception. It's not like we ask them all the time to take care of our kids. We rarely ask them. It would have been nice to have one whole night to go out and reconnect with each other.

My kids are ADHD but well controlled on meds and they behave for their grandparents....either that or the grandparents are lying to us when we ask them.

My IL's do take the kids on a few hour basis occasionally but on a one on two basis so we always have one child with us. This is their idea because they want our kids to have one on one time with them.

Having a sleep in sitter would defete the purpose of wanting alone time with dh unless we went to a hotel and it's just too late now to try and find one. We really didnt think dh's parents would say no. It threw the both of us completely.

Karen I think its crappy they said no. My grandmother is like that. I can count on 1 hand the number of time I ever asked her to watch the little ones and there always seems to be a problem with it. She has a lot to do. What?? She has been retired for years so I think if I needed a babysitter she might could put of dusting for a hour or 2. Whatever. I learned I cant rely on anyone but dh and I.
Sorry your not getting any alone time and even more sorry you had to miss Disney.

Dh and I have both decided that if something like this comes up again we will ask one of our friends from church, who have kids, if they could stay with them the night. I am sure they would watch them. I should have thought to ask them a few days ago. We just didnt think it would be a big deal with the IL's.

Jane, our friend, took my youngest for a few hours the other night on a seconds notice when she found out we were going to try and take him with us to the Magnet School Showcase for my eldest son. She knew it would be wild and crazy there and even though she was super super busy directing and running the Team Kid Party that was that night she TOLD me to leave him with her.

Oh and dh told me what the problem is with them. They are afraid we will not pick the kids up in time for them to get to church tomorrow. We are NOT kids, we are 43 and 42 and I think we can be trusted to be someplace at a certain time. My kids were upset with us that they cannot spend the night at their grandparents house and we honestly told them it wasnt us that was saying no it was them. We are not gonna sugar coat it or take the blame here.

Dh just said to me a few minutes ago that he wishes we hadn't cancelled out on Disney for this weekend. SIGH........ I so wish we were there right now instead of here. I think that's another reason tonight is bothering me so much. His exact comment was "So finances would have been a little tighter.....I wish now we had not cancelled out on Disney for this weekend. The weekend here is turning into a shambles."

No luck Nancy...they ran out of them about 3 months ago But I did hear there was at least 1 new one we haven't seen.......but I have a feeling we will once these YaYa's get back....unless they have to use them in exchange for bail..........

Well we are just about ready to go. I feel like a tubby Tilly in fancy garb. UGH. Oh well. Dh said I looked nice. I guess I will loosen up once we get to the party and probably enjoy myself.

Since we have ben left high and dry by so many YaYa's and Pammy is nowhere to be found.....would it be fun to move and see if anybody would find us? Just think of all the fun we could have with ALL of the cabana boys!!!!!! That will teach 'em for leaving us here all alone, without supervison!!

DH took Jordan to the ER. He's had a cough the past few days and the medicine I've been giving him isn't working. Today, while out at the store, he started a wheezy cough, so we figured we better get him seen tonight, instead of waiting to try to be squeezed in on Monday at the dr.

I'm starting to feel icky, too. I think I'm catching a cold.

Karen, sorry your IL's screwed up your plans. We don't even bother to ask my MIL to watch our boys. Long story there.
