Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

The positive change I plan to make this week is to increase my exercise. This past week I have had a lower back which is now gone. So I plan to add more Wii time to the walking I have been doing.

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

This is a tough one for me. I need a non food reward that does not involve money. Any ideas?

You people talk to much!!! ;) As for me, I was down a little this week ( a lb or so I think), but I plan on being up by 4 or 5 lbs next week (yes you read that right). It is a requirement from my doc. Before you start a very strict diet you have to eat as much of the bad stuff as you want, enough to make you physically sick in fact. I start on his very restrictive meal plan on Friday, so this week I will be hog wild.

Saturday's question of the day: What is your first goal you are reaching for? (A smaller step toward your ultimate goal). It can be a specific weight, clothing size, behavior change, whatever you want.

My size 10 jeans. I can get them on and zip them up, but breathing is a totally different story and i dare not sit! I plan on wearing them by the end of the month.

As for the blood sugar issues, I am hypoglycemic and I know when I am having an attack as I have the incredible urge to cry. I will be in the car and just have to cry. So I feel ya! Hang in there!

As for COW questions

I got a few questions, so I will try to answer them all. My basic rule for COW is if you honestly think it fits the bill then it does. If you think caffeine free tea counts as water then count it, but don't delude yourself into thinking diet soda does. Pure filtered water is best and everyone knows that, you don't need me to lay out strict rules. The goal is that you will be drinking your water everyday for the rest of your life. The same goes for walking (and any and all other tasks I will present). If it is snowy out and you think a walk-away-the-ponds DVD counts as walking then it does. BUT BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF!

As for specifics though, I would like you to drink 8 8oz cups a day. This is what "they" say you are supposed to drink. When reporting you can simply tell me "I completed 5 days of water" or you can break it down and tell me day per day how much you drank. Your choice, but keep in mind, 6 cups one day and 10 cups the next day do not equal 2 days of 8 cups. We don't carry over here!

One positive change. Well, I started swimming at the place I just joined, I'd like to keep doing that and talk to my physical therapist tomorrow about some exercises I could do in the pool that will help my back. Swimming's a lot! I've been sort of side stroking, dog paddling, and swimming on my back as I have contacts I wear one monthly pair and am absolutely pathetically blind without them, I am trying to not get my face wet. But I'm doing it- I have done 20 minutes the last 2 days. One positive reward--going to see a movie, either a matinee or one at the $ theater. It would be really good to go see one I actually want to see regardless of critics...guilty pleasure.:lovestruc

Oh geez- I missed a question. What's one small goal? I guess to do at least minimal back exercises every day.

Jayne, you might try out swimoutlet.com as they sell prescription swim goggles very reasonably. I wear bifocals & just get my distance correction so I can see people, the clock etc, so I can swim easier. I think they have some as low as $10. Mine are speedo & have held up well.

Today may prove interesting...DS19 came home from work last night with a nasty burn on the inside of his left wrist/forearm from emptying the soup out of the steam table at work...steamtable was too full. I full expect to need to make a Dr visit this morning to get some silvadene.
Make sure your son knows to fill out Workers Comp papers at work. You should not hve any out of pocket expenses due to this injury.

A night in with girl friends? Give each other mani's & pedi's, watch a movie, gossip about the nieghbors, etc.

My basic rule for COW is if you honestly think it fits the bill then it does.
Sounds good. Since "experts" say so many things about water in-take, I will stick with the one I agree with the most. Naturally decaffinated/no-calorie beverages count ;) Since they are most water but as you said diet-coke or calorie ladden beverages (Latte's, Juice's etc) don't.

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

I think I'm going to buy a bouquet of flowers. They are frivolous, but its something I do sometimes in honour of my grandmother. I used to buy her flowers for no reason most of the time when I'd visit her. After she passed away, I told myself, that instead of buying for her, I'd buy them for me sometimes. She's been gone for 6 years now, but I still feel happy when I buy some flowers in her memory. So I hope to reach my first goal in 2 weeks and get the flowers on the kitchen table.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

This one isn't original, but like many others, I need to get to sleep earlier. I've gotten into the cycle of staying awake too late, and then tired all day. I've been sleeping in some on weekends, but that really isn't the same.

Is there someplace you like to go for a drive, that you don't often get time to? Get Bubba involved in your reward and pack a healthy lunch and go somewhere for a picnic to celebrate. Or since your jeans are your goal, take a picture wearing them when they are fitting good and put it up beside your goals at home. You could write on it "I did it! First goal reached" :flower3:

I have contacts I wear one monthly pair and am absolutely pathetically blind without them, I am trying to not get my face wet.

I wear night and days (I assume that is what you are referring too) and I go underwater and all. Just don't open your eyes. If you do get water in your eyes, it doesn't actually do anything bad (maybe sting a little), but you may lose a contact. When I do my laps I put on plain old goggles just like everybody else. I have been wearing contacts for 14 years (really need to get lasik soon!) and despite what "they" say there really are no restrictions. Trust me I have gone into chemical labs with them (a big no-no) and have never had an issue. Now, wood fires occasionally cause an irritation. Not sure why.

My positive change today is going to be drinking my water and writing it down along with journaling my food. I think this will help me see my times of the day when I eat more. Maybe it will help break some patterns.:thumbsup2

Ok..had a very overindulgent weekend with the Eagles game and such. I was too tired this am...I'm not sleeping at night and getting up at 6am just didn't work today. Though this afternoon I came home from work and did 36 mins on the treadmill...2.07miles then I did 30mins on the wii...for a total of 66mins....and so far I have eaten correctly: oatmeal, yogurt snack, and water

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

I'm going to get back into exercise this week. I can do it, I know I can and I also know I love it. I just have to get moving a few times to remember :rolleyes1

I am here to report the need for a booty kicking! I have really been finding it hard to be disciplined! Finally, all of the "bad" food is out of the house and I am working in earnest to get the fat off!!

The good news is I have a new incentive....we booked a Disney trip for early December and I refuse to go fat and out of shape!!!!

MONDAY QUESTION: Drink 2 Liters of water a day

I have been catching up on all of the posts and you all are giving me great motivation!! Keep up the good work!! :yay:

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

I'm going to try to work out a little more.

Well, so far so good. I've made it to lunch and am still OP. Did my 200 crunches set this morning. Planning to do a WATP tape as soon as I get groceries unloaded, but first lunch!!

Well, so much for going to bed early. I just got back from the vet. One of my dogs had an allergic reaction to God only knows what. Poor thing, scared the crap out of me. But we're back and he's fine after getting a shot. I'm trying to unwind after all the excitement so I can get some sleep tonight. Oh well, maybe we'll have a snow day tomorrow and I can sleep in. (I hope, I hope.) Once again, goodnight.

Poor puppy - I hope he is ok! :wizard:

:surfweb: good morning....did ya miss me? i have been pc-free all weekend. though it probably isn't a bad idea every now and then i did miss it. but now i have a computer that actually warms up in less than 10 mins and doesn't make a horrid whirling sound :thumbsup2

i did lose a little on friday's WI - my weekend wasn't my best. just keep swimming....

QOTD -- hmmm. i have decided to incorporate yoga back into my regular exercise weekly plan. i did 20 mins yesterday and really enjoyed it, the stretching felt wonderful. my back has been achy and i think yoga will help

there was no way for me to try and catch up -- sorry --

have a wonderful OP monday everyone

I was just thinking last night -Where is Molli and Bev, lol! So yes, I did miss ya!! I agree that sometimes PC free is nice. I tried to stay mostly PC free when I was in Vegas. Was nice not to feel tied to it, but I did miss it. As for the weekend, keeping trucking. Make next week a better one :)

Hi everyone! I just joined the DIS boards and am joining the WISH and BL7 threads! This is my first post, so please bear with me!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?
I work from home, so it is easy to spend the day snacking rather than eating actual meals. I am going to the grocery store today with that in mind. Buying more things that I need to prepare a little, and less that I can just pop open and munch on. Also, I need to concentrate on getting a reasonable and consistant amount of sleep each night.

I'm really looking forward to taking this journey with you all!

Wow - just joined DIS and WISH/BL7 - Woo hoo, :welcome:
I agree it is easier to snack at home when you work there - but it's also easier to cook healthy meals. Good job on the plan for your shopping trip.

Okay I am UP 4 pounds since last week because I went off Atkins and that happens when you go off of it.

The one positive change I have made this week is to join weight watchers. I lost a lot of weight with them many years ago and whats nice is there isnt anything I cant have.

One reward I can give myself that is non food would be a good book. Preferably JD Rob or Nora Roberts.

Have you read Twilight? It's my favorite book ever

Ok, this weekend was not good; celebrated my Dad's birthday yesterday and fell into old habits, namely snacking before dinner with wine. So, today, back on the wagon.

This week, I hope I can say my positive change is more exercise; we are supposed to get socked with snow and cold, and my tendency is to hibernate; plus lots of work stress to boot:scared: So, I really need to stay focused!!

Laurie

You will do better next weekend now that you know what to watch out for. Make a plan :)
The cold is supposed to make you shiver - doesn't that burn more calories, lol?

Monday QOTD:

I'm with a few of you ... I keep saying I'm going to get more sleep. But I'm a night person, so I often have more energy after 11PM. :confused3 So this week I'm going to work harder on a more reasonable bedtime ... no more of this up until midnight stuff.

I'm a late night person too. My DH thinks I'm nuts when I stay up till 1am. The problem is, I can't get up in the morning.......but I get this surge of energy around 10pm. I need to work on this though.

Well bummer ... I knew I would have a bad weekend but I didn't think it would be THAT bad. *sigh* I'm basically back to square one where I was last Monday. My hard-fought 4 day loss was put right back on with 3 days of laziness and eating out since we were at a weekend swim meet about 2 hours from home.

Where the heck is that darn wagon and why did I let it run me over :rotfl:?

Bringing the wagon back by your house and picking you up. Don't let what you've done derail you - you can do this. If you had a flat tire - would you deflate the other 3 ? Nope, you would fix the flat and move on - Hang in there!

I've been good about not having anything caffeine at all when I've been starting this. So I did count the 1 cup of water I put in my oatmeal the first day, haven't had oatmeal since then. Was this ok? My thinking was that the water was still there, but just absorbed into the oatmeal - I won't count it any more since I'm not drinking it. But I still think I did well considering that was my first day and I have managed those 8 glasses without pain from my interstitial cysitis. I have learned that at the end of the day when cold water feels like it's not going to go down that a cup of hot water with lemon juice added really goes down much easier. I can get 16 oz in one of my large mugs and it's much easier to get that down than a bottle of water at that time of day.

Ok..had a very overindulgent weekend with the Eagles game and such. I was too tired this am...I'm not sleeping at night and getting up at 6am just didn't work today. Eagles - YUCK, lol! I'm from near Philly and we are Dallas fans :rolleyes1 We have decided that if the Eagles make it to the SuperBowl, we are going to the movies and out to dinner to have Sushi - :rolleyes1 Sorry I can't wish them luck. I haven't even wanted to watch my local newstation since they won this weekend, lol!
Great job on your exercise. I keep thinking how you rock the exercise but it still hasn't motivated me yet. It will......cuz I keep thinking - if
Zurgswife can get out of bed in the morning - why can't I, lol!

I am here to report the need for a booty kicking! I have really been finding it hard to be disciplined! Finally, all of the "bad" food is out of the house and I am working in earnest to get the fat off!!

Consider this your booty kicking !! pirate:

Great job on the bad food being out. :thumbsup2 Nothing like a trip to Disney to put the fear of losing weight into you. I'm going in March and in August - the August one is the one that I better be fitting into my shorts - cuz I'm not buying new ones, lol (unless I need smaller ones)!!

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

For me it is moving up my bedtime and getting enough sleep. I haven't done well readjusting to a normal schedule after break, adn I know this will be much easier if I am well rested. So, heigh-ho, heigh-ho, it's off to bed I go. I hope everybody has a wonderful OP day tomorrow!

The one positive change I can make this week is to wear my bopdybugg all week long. I love this thing! So far, it is like a beacon of hope for me.... I'm thinking I can do this.... I think I can, I think I can...........

MelanieC - I love your statement: "Bringing the wagon back by your house and picking you up. Don't let what you've done derail you - you can do this. If you had a flat tire - would you deflate the other 3 ? Nope, you would fix the flat and move on - Hang in there!" The flat tire analogy is such a great visual.

To those of you who suggested the Weight Control Oatmeal, I must say thanks! I got some of the cinamon and it tastes good. One package is a nice start to the day.:thumbsup2

What testing are you doing Vija? If you don't mind telling, that is. :cutie:

It is for my TaeKwonDo testing. Every 3 months we test to promote to our next colored belt. right now I am a purple belt, in March I should test for Blue belt. Part of testing includes a certain time frame to stay in push up position (plank position). I think it will be 5 minutes. It is tough to do! anyone up for trying how long they can stay up in the plank position?

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?[\QUOTE]

I really hadn't thought of any reward. I think I will just be so happy that just reaching the goal will be the reward itself. DH and I are trying to be careful of our spending and I don't want to really spend any money right now. Maybe a bubble bath... we'll see.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

I think what I am going to work on is brushing my teeth before bedtime and then only drinking water. I usually would drink a diet soda right up until I turned off the lights. I think that would be another great thing to add to my positive changes I've made.

I have been doing pretty good. Really curbed my snacking as compared to pre- biggest Loser Wish round 7. I am so proud of that. I find myself craving the snacks, but since I am not "allowed" to have the chips for 100 days it actually helps me through this time. I am not tempted to just "have a little". I just can't have any. And any other snacks just don't seem worth it to me. and I am very commited right now, so I don't want to break that streak right now.

On Saturday we will be helping with my Mom and Dad's anniversary party and we have to bring the chips. that is going to be such a temptation!!! Maybe I'll ask DH or my sister to deal with the chips. In fact I think I will email my sister right now.

Have a losing day everyone!

Sunday's Question of the Day: What is a non food reward you can give yourself when you make that first goal?

Not sure, I was sort of thinking that reaching my goal was the reward. However, after reading everyone's posts I think once I reach my goal I will go on a date with my husband.

Monday Question of the Day: What is one positive change you can make this week?

Once I get home from work I have a tendency to fall over and veg out in front of the televison. This week I will come home a be more active around the house. Even if it is just vacuuming or doing one more trip up and down the stairs. I need to create an active lifestyle. Bonus would be not having all the housework built up for the weekend.
