Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

QOTD: Do you plan your meals ahead for the week? how does this help you?

Yes, I sit down on Friday and look at what we have in the cabinets/freezer, then look to the sale papers and then to the recipes. I do like to try and throw in a new meal every week or two because fixing the same things can get boring. If it is something that I haven't made in a while and it isn't the healthiest, I try to make some changes to it by using fat free or low fat items where I can in the recipe.

Planning ahead helps me from struggling every day deciding what to fix for lunch and dinner (yes most days, two meals - we homeschool so around). Lunch is not always a hot meal but it still takes planning. It also helps doing any prep work early so that when DH gets home we can go for our walk then come back and finish preparing dinner.

Also, the more we eat we are saving money and eating healthier.

It was a busy weekend, and I loved the snow that fell here on Saturday. I was able to get out and shovel, no really all I did was push the shovel for about an hour of walking. We had 4 inches of lovely light fluffy snow and it was lovely out there. As I was pushing that shovel another 2 inches fell. I put in a lot of steps just walking back and forth with that shovel. It was peaceful.
Lily, how much snow do you have down there. 4" of the fluffy white stuff would not be welcome here, I'm afraid. We've had over 211 cm this winter, and I'm really sick of it. Gotta admit, though, I don't mind shovelling when it isn't being whipped back in your face. (just don't tell DH that

)
Monday I'm at the surgery center for endoscopy and dilitation. I don't know if I'll be doing a lot of exercising, but I will do my best to make good eating choices.
Good luck! I love your attitude! :flower3:

Congrats to the losers (hey, Linda THIRTY pounds! Great achievement), and all the winners with what you are doing for yourself-scrapbooking, baths, time for yourself! And :welcome: Harley Mom!

Just got back. Covered the coast and mountains here in NC in one extended weekend...I'm a little tired but had a great time.
I have not been able to report my weight loss for the week but it was another 2 pounds. I'll take that!

I was fairly good while away. I did go to my favorite restaurants at the beach but ate lightly through the day and then cut back and pushed the bread to the other side of the table after having a little taste.
I ran /walked the Loop (the 3 mile loop at Wrightsville beach). It was a little windy but so beautiful and so easy to exercise there . Didn't sleep that well though so the next day i probably only got in about a mile which was to the pier and back (if there are any One Tree Hill fans out there...the cast was filming at the pier...oh, and my daughter was asked to be an extra in a scene to film this Friday...me too but I don't care to be on the TV with my weight right now. She is excited though just to get to hang out with the cast).

Anyway, that's about it for the exercise over the weekend and I was not good on the water consumption but it's a new week. I'm getting back on it today!

I haven't had time to read through the posts I missed while gone but I will. Hope everyone did well last week and has a great new week!

QOTD: What can you do for yourself next week? something indulgent, a way to de-stress, some time to walk away from all that needs to be done and spend a little time pampering yourself, or enjoying a hobby that you don't seem to have time for?

I am going to give myself a pedicure!
I did the pedicure last week before my trip, so I won't do that again til summer is close.
I am going to scrapbook. I always buy a little 5X7 scrapbook kit in disney and i printed about 100 pics, and will scrap the favorites. I have finally caught up on the laundry and completely unpacked, so now I can have a little fun.

Hello Everyone! :wave2: I just found you guys today and would be honored to be a part of this amazing group!

:welcome: Bethany to our BL7 challenge! Check out this post for basic info on our setup. :welcome:

mikamah -- :thanks: for journaling with me this week! i'm holding ya too it. and thanks for the kind words :goodvibes

THIS WEEK'S COW HERE not sure about last week's winners -- did anyone catch that yet?

well i'm home pampering our injured doxie today. apparently he slid on ice or jumped wrong and has injured his lower back. doxies are famous for back issues. anyhow he's on *strict rest* which means carry him everywhere. today he seems to be better and trying to get up and walk, so i get to be the meanie and stop him. beyond that, at first we thought he was having intestinal issues ;) and our first rounds of medicine has backfired, literally :rotfl2:

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?

I am on going in hopes that my examples of healthy choices/exercising will be an influence on my daughters. I have seen snips of that hope becoming real in that my oldest DD has joined our Fitness Center and is working out 1-2 a week with me; also both of DD have developed a distaste for most fast food, most of the time. My youngest still gets a hankering for McD's, but once in a while that's fine. Normally quick meals on the road they will ask for Taco Bell (which I believe is a 'better' fast food) or Subway. My youngest has even ordered salad take-out. it was chicken caeser but she can afford a little extra fat calories still :thumbsup2

Welcome Bethany! This is a great group, and so glad you could join us!:welcome:

I hope all goes well for you!:flower3:

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?

I have read that my challenge for no chips and Mcdonalds has inspired others here on our BL thread!:goodvibes :grouphug: that is wonderful! I hope that my kids get inspired as well, and someday I want to loose so much I am featured in a magazine so that I can inspire others as well!

so, I just came back from my weigh in at the fitness center for my DH work's Biggest Loser competition. I know I wasn't really watching what I ate this weekend, but I was a bit surprised at my weigh in there! :faint: Let's just say I probably will be up this week for my weigh in.

Anyway, it is very involved. You earn points for weight loss, body fat % loss, inches lost, visits with the dietician, visits with the fitness coordinator, you have to turn in food journals and you get points for everyday you journal, and points for exercising. Lots of ways to earn points, and I am going to really try to nab every point I can get. There are 36 total competitors, don't know how many women vs. men, but the top woman and top man split the pot. I think it should be $90 per person. I so want to win that! I am going to try my hardest!

Hello all you Losers. Haven't posted in a while although I'm happy to say I'm sticking to my plan and am starting to see a difference in the mirror and the way my clothes are fitting. Weighed-in this morning and am down another 1.4 lbs (not my biggest loss, but I'll take it!)
Am proud that I've continued my daily trips to the gym and weekly workouts with my trainer. I have increased my strength and endurance and have been able to increase weights and cardio times on the bike, eliptic or treadmill. DH came with me yesterday and I'm hoping he'll continue to do so.
Keep up the great work, y'all! I'm looking forward to seeing a new list of names this week.

Sarah

Sorry to hear you have to be the meanie today with the pup but we know it's for his own good. Your a good mom!!!:thumbsup2

QOTD: I can see DD & DS making different choices on snacks and how much they are eating. DS did go walking with DH while I was away this weekend. I'm hoping he will come along with us today. DD has no interest in the walking but hope that it will be catching soon.

WTG on your loss this week and being consistent with your workouts...keep up the great work!!!:cool1:

Good Monday morning!

I did better this weekend than I have been, though when I wrote down and figured out points I was still amazed how much it added up to.

QOTD: Last year I did the Disneyland 1/2 Marathon. I decided I would just do the 5k this year and my brother, niece and nephew have all decided to join me. Hopefully I was a bit of an inspiration.

Happy Friday to my fellow Losers.

I have been MIA for a while. I need to go back and check out some of the QOD's. I have been very busy with work. My assistant is out for a couple of week for surgery. So I am very busy. We also had out of town guest for the weekend. They came up to celebrate my birthday. It was an Awesome weekend. Maybe the best birthday EVER. But now, back to reality.

My WI last friday was down 1.4. :cheer2: which keeps me on track for my 12 week goal so I'm very happy.

Now I will try to go back some to see how you all are doing.

Wishingpixiedust: everyone a great week.

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?
Not as I can determine just yet. That does not deter me from my quest.

Procedure went well. Good news was I had to get on that scale, had my heavy boots and clothing on and it shows a loss already for this week. I'll take that and keep working toward the end of week WI.

I'm a bit tired right now from anesthesia but all went well as expected.

I'm thrilled to see the loss clippies in so many siggies here. Great job losers!

Lele, PD for your interview.

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?

I think it has inspired my older son. He has been trying to eat better and has even been taking his lunch from home to work,

Crazy week for me. Yesterday we celebrated inlaws 60th anniversary. We had a fairly big lunch but I didn't eat dinner then. I did eat the cake and enjoyed it but did not offer to take any home. Exams start for the kids on Friday and they are predicting snow for tomorrow into Wednesday. I have pile of papers that need to be graded so the kids know where they stand before they go into their exam. Here at home I just came home from grocery shopping and am getting ready to make some dinner and sit and quilt while I watch some tv.

How is everyone doing on the COW. I think it has helped me to focus. I have been working hard to complete all the tasks. I can't wait to see what she throws at us this week.

Have a great evening everyone.

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?

One of my friends from work has started her diet this week after hearing about my success. We used to share an office together, so we know all about each others diet history. We have said "gonna start Monday" a thousand times!:rotfl: Last week she told me "I really think this is your time. You seem really motivated." It wasn't long until she decided to get serious also!

I have been good today, but this weekend, not so good. We went to the movies Sat. night. We were upgrading cell phones which took forever and then didn't have time for supper before movie. So instead, we ate popcorn. With butter.:crazy2: I don't know what I was thinking. Then Sunday evening we had grilled shrimp which was yummo, but then when I went back to the kitchen to clean, I ended up eating a ton more.:sad2:

Oh, well. Like I said, today has been a good day. Donuts were brought to work, and I didn't touch them! Have chicken in the oven baking right now. I won't allow myself to slip into the habit of eating like I used to again. It isn't worth it.

I am gonna try to spend more time on the dis this week instead of in kitchen. You guys are all great inspiration to me. Thank you all.:thumbsup2

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

Losers we are moving along on our Biggest Loser journey. How goes your travels? Do you remember why we are here? Are you losing motivation? I am but I am recommitting because of this:

DSC_0039.JPG

My daughter is here from Seattle with her husband and 8 month old son. My grandson, what a miracle. They leave tomorrow and I will miss them terribly. I want to see him grow up and be an important part of his life. To do that I need to take care of me. Now is the time for me to win this battle once and for all.

Now is the time for me to learn how to live a healthy long life. I know this Biggest Loser Challenge can help me if I do my part. If I work my program, get accountable and get involved this challenge can help me on my journey.

OK enough about me. How about you? I know we have discussed why we are here but maybe it's time to recommit and review our motives again. Are you REALLY doing everything you can to be the Biggest Loser? I know some of you are. I see your numbers. I hear the enthusiasm in your reports. I rejoice with you. You inspire me.

I am struggling and I know I am not alone. Losers let's get together this week and really work hard. One day at a time, one bite at a time. With hard work you will be a superstar.

Now we will look at the weekly stats

beginning participants--139

not reporting 2 week----19

Wish Biggest Loser 7 Week 3
weekly net loss 109.6 pounds
Cumulative net loss 545.7 pounds
week 3 average percentage of weight lost 0.67%

I never got any work done in the office last week. Baby Wesley just came for his good night kiss so it will soon be time for our last evening to visit with DD and her husband while they are here. So let's move on to our superstar list.

Before the weekly superstar list comes the disclaimers.

**I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference this is the magic percentage of weight lost formula - weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week times 100, that gives us the percentage.

**If you miss a week and return with a loss your percentage is adjusted to reflect missing one week.

**If you gain and then post a loss your percentage is adjusted. If your loss is less than last week's gain then you are not named a superstar because you are still working to lose the gain.

Congratulations to our week 3 superstars. They had weight losses of 1% and more this week. Could you have made the list? Let's see.

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?

My 9 year old son is really getting on the bandwagon with me, I am so happy! After school we went grocery shopping and he was reading labels, and choosing fruits and vegetables and even overcame the siren's call of Kosmic Brownies all on his own. He has been using his pedometer at school and getting good numbers. Now we are talking about a couch to 5K program for us to train. We hope to bring DH to the dark side next . . . :darth:
