Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Well, I'm motivated seeing my name on this weeks "WISH Superstars" list. Been a bad week so far. Went to a hockey game Friday night, and was bad. Our section won free Big Macs, and you know us accountants, we're cheap, so I couldn't "waste" it.

Then we went out to eat Saturday, and I did have dessert. And then I found my wife bought some little Hershey's Valentine's Day hearts, and decided I needed to do a taste test to make sure the peanut butter ones weren't tainted with salmonella, or whatever is going around. Then apparently, I had to make sure there was no peanut butter in the milk and dark chocolate ones as well. For the kids' safety of course. (I think this was some "bored" snacking, the peanut butter ones I understand, I like peanut butter, but I'm not much into chocolate at all, so there's really no excuse for eating the milk/dark chocolate ones.)

Excuses are over once I stepped on that scale Sunday morning. And now my goal is to get back to where I was, so I at least have a maintain this week.

DS's b-day party is Saturday, so I really need to be good between now and then, because we are having my arch-enemy, PIZZA!!!! The cake I can handle, it's that evil PIZZA that I know will be calling my name over and over again.

Congratulations Jo!

I had a much better day today (although I skipped the workout). My goal is to make the superstars this week. I would love to be in the number one spot at some point, but I doubt that will ever happen. I'll just be happy with being in the top 20 or however many we end up doing.

No one seems to be inspired by me lol. My husband is saying he's going to lose weight--but he mostly wants to because I'm not sleeping with him anymore...well daughter is 20 now and not needing her room so I'm slowly converting it and have been using it as a bedroom. Husband snooores bad. He thinks that being overweight is his only problem---it's not, he's always snored and I just can't stand it any more. I hope he does lose some weight-- it would help with his sleep apnea which is what he has but will never get diagnosed or treated. Oh well, your animals get to look like you right?? Well, maybe some of mine will skinny down a bit lol. I have a lot of chubby felines.

I know EXACTLY what you mean - I was in this same boat! But we didn't have a bedroom to spare so my DH slept on the couch! OMG - it was SO bad that I was considering getting an apartment across the hall! (REALLY!) :scared: But he finally went to the doctor on a divorce threat because I couldn't take it any more! And a CPAP machine has saved our marriage! :thumbsup2 But now he has been diagnosed w/ a fatty liver and MUST lose the weight right along w/ me.

Anyways, I just wanted to say that you guys are a HUGE inspiration for me! Thank you for all the wonderful welcomes and I'm actually looking forward to losing with all of you! :grouphug: I'm happy to report that my first WI with WW went better than I hoped - I'm down 3 pounds! Weighing in on Mondays sucks, but that's life.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Weigh to go, WISHers! We are on track for a grand time. Congratulations to everyone who posted-loss or gain! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: (and to those who didn't because they are at Disney-my 2 sisters are-:p )

Brenda, enjoy that wee one while you can. :cloud9: Lisa, getting your youngster to read labels is a real plus. :thumbsup2 I try to show my Grade 1s and 2s that "Fruit snacks" rarely have fruit. When the first three ingredients are: sugar, glucose and fructose. . . . Buzz, I know that you only had the kids' welfare in mind, but we don't want anything going to waist! :upsidedow Eeyore's Butterfly. I don't imagine that I will ever make the top 20-but I've lost every week, even if just a hair, so that is success in itself. ::yes:: Jayne, my kitty is well over 20 pounds. When (his niece??) my daughter's kitty came to visit, she was like 7 pounds, dripping wet. I said it was because he: is a long-hair (so is she), is big boned, and is all fluff. ;) Bethany, good job on the Monday weigh in! :)

Tonight is Biggest Loser. Anyone think Joelle will STILL get to stay??? :confused3

Have a great day, everyone. Stay the course. You can do this, one step at a time.

And once more, to my sisters in Florida while I brave the -17ºC temps :cold:...:p

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THE BIG LOSERS THIS WEEK!

I'm not sure if I got my weigh in , in time since I was away for the weekend. But I knew I would not be in the top last week. Working on it for this week though ...might have better luck next week getting on it.

I got 3 miles in yesterday and then did another 30 minutes of toning/weights with my daughter. Got back into better eating habits and drinking my water.

Hoping this sinus headache goes away so I'm up for more of the treadmill today.

mikamah -- :thanks: for journaling with me this week! i'm holding ya too it. and thanks for the kind words :goodvibes

well i'm home pampering our injured doxie today. apparently he slid on ice or jumped wrong and has injured his lower back. doxies are famous for back issues. anyhow he's on *strict rest* which means carry him everywhere. today he seems to be better and trying to get up and walk, so i get to be the meanie and stop him. beyond that, at first we thought he was having intestinal issues ;) and our first rounds of medicine has backfired, literally :rotfl2:

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?

I
Hope your pup is feeling better. I didn't know what a doxie was so I googled it, and they look sooo cute. How big is your? They look like they stay pretty small, which must be nice, especially when you have to carry them around. How's the journalling going for you? I'm still journalling, and I'm right on track.
I did buy some 100 cal packs of hostess cupcakes, and the chocolate ones are to die for. If you only eat one pack, they are 1 ww point, but if you eat 2 they go up to 4 points. I had bought them before, and would eat 2 or 3 packs and still count it as one point each, but now I'm really trying to stay on track and be honest, so I ate 2 yesterday, and took the extra points for the second one.

The qotd- I inspire my sister-in-law, Beth. She has lost a lot of weight a couple years ago, and gained some back this year, and we visited before I went on my vacation, and I was telling her my plan to get right back on track after vacation, and she is on board with me too. We both inpire each other at different times, and that helps us not to sway too far off track. We're looking ahead to looking better this summer than last, and we will!

so, I just came back from my weigh in at the fitness center for my DH work's Biggest Loser competition. I know I wasn't really watching what I ate this weekend, but I was a bit surprised at my weigh in there! :faint: Let's just say I probably will be up this week for my weigh in.

Anyway, it is very involved. You earn points for weight loss, body fat % loss, inches lost, visits with the dietician, visits with the fitness coordinator, you have to turn in food journals and you get points for everyday you journal, and points for exercising. Lots of ways to earn points, and I am going to really try to nab every point I can get. There are 36 total competitors, don't know how many women vs. men, but the top woman and top man split the pot. I think it should be $90 per person. I so want to win that! I am going to try my hardest!
That sounds like a great challenge, and its nice it's not just the scale that you can earn points for. Good luck. Can't wait to hear you're the winner!

Good afternoon all!!!

Last week was oh so VERY frustrating. I am stuck in my weight fluctuating about a pound back and forth ugh! Hopefully this week I will get some good news on a new jobs which will def inspire some major motivation!!!

Fingers crossed and prayers said when I go to my interview tomarrow!!!
Hang in there. It's so frustrating to plateau, but be patient, and the scale will move in time. Good luck with your interview today!

Not as I can determine just yet. That does not deter me from my quest.

Procedure went well. Good news was I had to get on that scale, had my heavy boots and clothing on and it shows a loss already for this week. I'll take that and keep working toward the end of week WI.

I'm a bit tired right now from anesthesia but all went well as expected.

I'm thrilled to see the loss clippies in so many siggies here. Great job losers!

Lele, PD for your interview.
Glad your procedure went well. I work in endoscopy, and I'm glad to hear your took it easy yesterday. It makes me nervous when people say they are just fine, and you know they are going to go and get behind the wheel of a car.

My daughter is here from Seattle with her husband and 8 month old son. My grandson, what a miracle. They leave tomorrow and I will miss them terribly. I want to see him grow up and be an important part of his life. To do that I need to take care of me. Now is the time for me to win this battle once and for all.

Now is the time for me to learn how to live a healthy long life. I know this Biggest Loser Challenge can help me if I do my part. If I work my program, get accountable and get involved this challenge can help me on my journey.
.
Brenda, he is a absolute doll. And what motivation for you to hang in and stay on the healthy track of life. You can do it. :cheer2:

IAnyways, I just wanted to say that you guys are a HUGE inspiration for me! Welcome and contratulations on your loss!! Nice work.

I'm so glad you said that about the biggest loser. I wasn't thinking it was tonight, and was planning to scrap book. I have a feeling joelle will make it. The preview wanted you to think the two young guys were going to be up for elimination, but I don't think they would really give that away ahead of time.
-17 degrees:scared1: How awful. We've been in the +teens and that's bad enough for me. I left work yesterday, and thought it was very comfortable out, and it was 26. We're getting used to this cold, but I don't want to. Hope it warms up soon. You must not even be able to go outside.

:cheer2: :cheer2: Congratulations Jo!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2: You are the biggest loser!!

Congrats to all the top losers!! YOu are inspiring me to keep on track and see my name up there some day.

Have a great losing day!!

WTG to all the Superstars this week and to all the others who lost:cheer2: . If you didn't lose anything or had a gain, don't let it get you down, let it serve as a motivator this week:cheer2: :cheer2: . We can all do this if we set our minds to it, stay focused and in control!!

Tiger Lily 03-Glad to hear the procedure went well and WOW, a loss with all the heavy outer-wear on...that is a sure motivator to stay on track the rest of the week.

Brenda-Thanks again for all the hard work you do in computing our numbers each week.:thanks:

Got back out for a walk yesterday and it sure did feel good, I have started to miss the days that we can't get out there. Is it possible I'm beginning to enjoy the exercising???:scratchin

Have a great day everyone, get that water in, those three servings of veggies and those 5,000 steps for the COW this week. How is everyone doing with their COW numbers?? I have reached the goal each day so far with the water, veggies and steps and even got in over 10K steps yesterday. I love how each week we add something to the previous weeks, it is more challenging but hey, isn't that what this is all about??

Off to get the kids going with their school work even though they would like to wait a little while.

I so want to win that! I am going to try my hardest!

GREAT attitude Vija!! i like there are many ways to add points each day, keep us posted on your points, we'll be your tough love!

I'm happy to say I'm sticking to my plan and am starting to see a difference in the mirror and the way my clothes are fitting. I have increased my strength and endurance and have been able to increase weights and cardio times on the bike, eliptic or treadmill. DH came with me yesterday and I'm hoping he'll continue to do so.

I do declare.....you :rockband:.....what an inspiration!

My WI last friday was down 1.4. :cheer2: which keeps me on track for my 12 week goal so I'm very happy.

FANTASTIC!!

Fingers crossed and prayers said when I go to my interview tomarrow!!!

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

procedure went well. Good news was I had to get on that scale, had my heavy boots and clothing on and it shows a loss already for this week.

Lily I'm glad to hear your through the procedure with success -- that had to feel great on that scale!

I did eat the cake and enjoyed it

cake is such a temptation for me -- i  cake -- i feel like i virtually enjoyed it with you ;)

Ididn't have time for supper before movie. So instead, we ate popcorn. With butter.:crazy2: I don't know what I was thinking.

what has happened to movie popcorn? even my DDs won't eat it anymore, it makes all of us feel sick afterwards :crazy2: bleh! i guess in the long run that's a good thing...

Then we went out to eat Saturday, and I did have dessert. And then I found my wife bought some little Hershey's Valentine's Day hearts, DS's b-day party is Saturday, we are having my arch-enemy, PIZZA!!!!

you sure do have a challenging few days ahead......:cheer2: :cheer2: i know you can make a plan and stick to it, 2 slices instead of 4 maybe? enjoy without overdoing and planning your day to do so.

Hope your pup is feeling better. I didn't know what a doxie was so I googled it, and they look sooo cute. How big is your? They look like they stay pretty small, which must be nice, especially when you have to carry them around. How's the journalling going for you? I'm still journalling, and I'm right on track.

thanks for asking about our doggie, he is my favorite of our 3 and spoiled rotten! i may have a pic i can post...anyhow, he is actually a 'large' miniature wirehaired dachshund weighing in at 13.5 lb. He was my DD first show dog, though it technically is 'overweight' the judges never weighed him to see b/c he is all muscle and doesn't look that big. our other doxie is 7 lbs. had a recheck late yesterday afternoon and all is going well, other than intestinal issues from steroids.....i swear it's like having perpetual toddlers...dog are

success for me journaling yesterday! thanks for the support i think of our challenge often! anyone else interested in commiting to journaling everyday through Friday with us?

time has gotten away from me so i need to be productive here at home :guilty: again :thanks: Brenda for all your time and work! your grandson is adorable...

oops almost forgot ---

QOTD: Who is your favorite author and what type of books does he/she write?

this is kinda a self-motivated question :) i love to read and have been taking some time in the afternoon when i normally crave a treat or snack, a good book and hot tea is my plan. so i need help! i've run out of authors to read!!

My favorate author is Janet Evanovich -- her books are technically a mystery but they are hilarious!! One for the Money is the first book in the series....check it out if you want to laugh out aloud!

found one ...here is Eli

I have been Mia the last week or so. Internet is out at home. I HATE Comcast! and the wont be able to fix it till next week! Today is the big Board of Directors meeting to determine the timeline of our shutdown, so not really a good day. And the last few days we have been prepping for it at work, so no dis time. I did lose this week, so not so bad.

I SURE COULD USE SOME SUGGESTIONS!

I am worred about 79 days from now. I have given up McDonalds and chips for 100 days, I am at 22 so far, but what happens at 101 days? I am so worried about falling back into the pattern of eating chips by the family size bag full, and McDonalds mutliple times a day. :sad2: I have given this stuff up for 100 days before, only to QUICKLY fall back into the previous destructive patterns. I don't want to say I can never have them again, but neither does "have it in moderation" work, because I KNOW me, I start with one chip and it snowballs, I can't seem to be able to resist that temptation. My one thought was that for 1 day, say at 101 days I can have the chips and mcDonalds and then start another 100 days challenge on the very next day.

Why not use it as a reward? I can have a kids meal (yup just the smallest bit) when I lose 10 lbs. As long as you don't cave it works well. I have one of those chocolate reindeer sitting on my fridge from Christmas. He looks at me every time I walk into the kitchen. I cant eat him until March and the little bugger knows it!

QOTD: What can you do for yourself next week? something indulgent, a way to de-stress, some time to walk away from all that needs to be done and spend a little time pampering yourself, or enjoying a hobby that you don't seem to have time for?

Not sure about this one. I tend to build in me time to almost every day. I am a scrapbooker too, so i try to spend at least a half on hour in my room a day or that much time shopping for scrap supplies. If I am not in a scrapping mood I take a bath.

THIS WEEK'S COW HERE not sure about last week's winners -- did anyone catch that yet?

I don't post them till Thursday when i post the new COW so it doesn't get so lost. :) Look for it Thursday morning sometime.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
To all the biggest losers this week. Great job.

:wave2: Shannon...way to go on making the top ten. You go girl.

I am so behind on the QOTD and since I just saw this I'll start with this one

QOTD: Who is your favorite author and what type of books does he/she write?
lavyrle spencer was my all time favorite. I had read all of her books save one, her last one. I just have not been able to read it since there are to be no more. currently I think Linda Lael Miller is my favorite, but I'm really into harlequin historicals. I also belong to paperbackswap.com which is really great in finding some of the older books.

I know waht you mean about never making the top loser list Debbie. I lose so slowly. But I don;t really care- as long as I'm losing, I'm good!

I'll be nejoying the cold with you for the next couple of days, but then it's off to sunny Florida for me!

Wow! I have just been totally motivated, and it is good because I pretty much lost it this weekend and I've been looking for it!

Congratulations and Commiseration to everyone, we will all get there eventually, some of us just take roads with more twists and turns. I think I'm on a highway with alot of 4leaf clovers!

Maria

Hi Everyone!

I am SO far behind I am not going to try to catch up, just jump in.

Went to Cleveland for the USFSA National Championships and there's no other way to put it. I was BAD!

Today's a new day and I am back on track. Out of town again, but I went to the grocery and stocked up so that I don't have as many excuses. Plus this morning I got up and did a five mile jog.

Not expecting good results on Friday, but....

wow! i can't believe i made the list!! :) that gives me more motivation :) good job everyone!! :)
I also ordered my wedding gown this weekend..so THAT is motivation as well!!

QOTD: Who is your favorite author and what type of books does he/she write?

I have enjoyed reading the Yada Yada Prayer Group series by Neta Jackson. This is a Christian Fiction series but deals with a lot of real life issues.

Oh man, I don't even know how many QOTD's I've skipped. I think I've found them all. This is one of the things I have really enjoyed about this thread so far - I love reading everyone's QOTD answers!

QOTD: Do you plan your meals ahead for the week? how does this help you?

When I do, it can make all the difference in the world. I hate that feeling of not knowing what we're doing for dinner at 4pm, and do we have the right groceries, etc. etc. Planning is no fun, but it's condensed no-fun, rather than spread over the week no-fun. I need to make meal planning a habit again.

QOTD: What can you do for yourself next week? something indulgent, a way to de-stress, some time to walk away from all that needs to be done and spend a little time pampering yourself, or enjoying a hobby that you don't seem to have time for?

I just read a little bit about this in a weight loss book. It suggests this as a way of not delaying your happiness until you are at goal. I think it's a reinforcement of the idea that you have to nurture yourself to health - you can't anger or disappoint yourself to health!!!

The book suggested focusing on one body part that you like and doing everything you can for a week to take care of that part and make it all it can be. For instance, legs - daily moisturizing and massage, wearing skirts that show off your legs, etc. I am not wearing skirts this week, but I did put on some yummy smelling lotion the other night. :)

QOTD: Has your success/attitude/determination during this challenge influenced or inspired a friend or family member?

I am not sure anyone outside of WISH knows I'm doing this challenge at all. My adult onset running seems to have inspired a few people, though it's impossible to say if it was me or other events in their lives. I have a couple of friends who are doing C25K at my suggestion, though, so I suppose that counts! I think it was maybe my 1/2 marathon medal rather than my attitude, though, that inspired one of them.

My DH also has sleep apnea and also has weight to lose, which he wants to lose but has always felt resentful about needing to lose. He got diagnosed 8 years ago and it has made a huge world of difference to him on a daily basis. If he even goes one night without the machine, he is useless the next day. I'm glad it has improved his functioning so much and that the CPAP protects his health (Sleep Apnea causes terrible stress on the body, especially the heart) but it would be great if he didn't need the machine so desperately. Last week, he got himself a bodybugg - he is a gadget guy - and it seems like he is really enjoying it and finding it motivating. They are on sale now at Amazon, plus you can save an extra $50 before January 1st, so if anyone was considering a Body Bugg, this might be a good time!

QOTD: Who is your favorite author and what type of books does he/she write?

I am torn - I do love Jerome K. Jerome, a turn of the last century author of humorous books. I am also a fan of Robert A. Heinline (Science Fiction) and Tamora Pierce (YA fantasy - just brilliant). If anyone enjoys retold fairy tales, I can heartily recommend Robin McKinley. She has several plus the excellent books The Blue Sword and The Hero and the Crown.

This week for me is going OK - I am doing my best to use my Flex points in a responsible manner. I am at rehearsals for Cabaret most nights, and in the past week there have been two birthdays - which means cakes and cookies and cupcakes and candies. The week before that was a potluck and there are still chips and things from that. It's like a temptation every single night, it feels like. So I am approaching it like that. I don't really want one of those grocery store mini-cupcakes. It's not worth it. I don't actually want to blow points on a little candy when I could have a banana and peanut butter after I get home. I did have a clementine last night when rehearsal ran late. I feel like that was worth it, and it was so good. I had a small brownie at the church potluck on Sunday (seriously, it's been constant!!) and it was VERY worth it. It was a little struggle not to eat more sugar the rest of the day, though. I managed, but it is easier if I stay two or three steps away from the slippery slope instead of just one.

Oh, and I am so in for the journaling every day this week. This month. This year. :) It is the thing that makes the biggest difference for me.
