Sunday's QOTD:
What is your favorite "Go To" meal that you make yourself when you are in a pinch, or the family is eating something you can't eat?

.

QOTD-2 Eggo waffles. I put a little peanut butter on them and just a little syrup. - Lisa

My meal is a whole wheat toritilla with shredded chicken with grilled onions and mushrooms, shredded cheese, chopped tomatoes, a little guaco and sour cream. YUMMO!!!

Hobbester- DH eat peanut butter and syrup on his waffles and pancakes too. I thought he was SOOO weird:crazy2: the first time he did it, but it's pretty good, and REALLY filling!

QOTD: I head to the pantry and break out a can of soup. I am usually satisfied with black bean or NE clam chowder (the mostly fat free kind).

Some of these meals sound really good. I will be expanding my repertoire!

Hello everyone!

I'm an empty nester, not too computer savy and new to this site. I don't really have a quote but have enjoyed reading the wonderful ones others have adopted.

Good luck to everyone.
I would like to add -- that I smile everytime I log out --"clear cookies" comes up on my computer -- ummmm, that's what got me in this shape in the first place !!

I

When I was a kid, my mother used to make a mixture of peanut butter and syrup mixed together in a cup with a spoon so the two became one gooey mixture. We would put it on biscuits with butter (OMG -makes me think of when I was a kid), pancakes, waffles, etc.

My motivational saying is this

"No one else is going to fix this for me. I have to fix this. I have to tell myself everyday that I'm worth fixing. I'm worth giving 100% for.

I keep this in the bathroom where I see it everyday - and I have a copy in my jacket pocket and stashed in various clothes so that I come across it and unexpected times - the old "what's this in my pocket" thing. It helps for those times when I'm out and tempted to eat something that is a red-light food or when I'm feeling down and disgusted with myself.

I really really like this one!!

I was in the Share A Dream Come True Parade, Disney Dreams Come True Parade, Spectromagic Parade, Hollywood Stars and Motorcars Parade (and the accompanying Happy Holidays Parade), Hoedown (square dance show in Frontierland), and Celebrate the Season (castle show for Christmas).

I actually got to perform in Share a Dream Come True on the day we closed it and opened Disney Dreams Come True the next day. It was one of the best two days of my life. There can be a lot of resentment toward interns who get trained in parades and shows, especially because of the role I did, but everybody was very supportive. I did hear there were grumblings across property about it, but the people who knew me went out of their way to defend me. That and Celebrate the Season were some of my happiest times there.

This is a picture from the Happy Hollydays Parade (about 30 lbs ago).

That must have been so cool and exciting!!! What a great experience!!

Question of the day.
Hmm. I will usually see if there's anything in the freezer that is easily prepared or we go to Burrito Amigos lol. Sometimes I'll throw together some tuna helper or soup. My favorite lunch/dinner before work though, if I'm working a night shift is some tostitos with fat free cheese slices. Lucky if there's some non moldy ff sour cream around and or guacamole. Oh lord-- forgot about the hummus. Was practically addicted to that stuff for awhile. Hummus and tostitos or these weird sweet chilli chips by riceworks I was getting at Costco and thank goodness they don't seem to have those anymore.

Good MOnday morning. It has gotten warmer here in jersey. It is up to 25 this morning. We had some light snow this morning but I know it is not as cold as other sections of the country.

Yesterday we took ds2 back to college and into his room. He is picking up his books today and classes start tomorrow. I know he is excited about his 2nd semester. He had a great first semester and learned alot of things that will help him in the future.

This week I am trying to finish a quilt that I have been working on for my inlaws. Their 60th anniversary is next week. They are not the type for a big party so the most we will do is a lunch on Sunday. Most of the grandkids will not be able to make it. This was planned in the last week. Ds1 is scheduled to work and ds2 is at college and I am not bringing him home just to go out to lunch. Their cousins live in Kansas so they won't make it and their other cousin lives in NC I don't think he will make it. He didn't make it for Christmas.

heart4pooh Hope everything goes welll with your surgery. Hernia is tough. Dh had one several years ago and needs another one soon. It does take a while to heal.

WorfiedoodlesCongrats on finishing the half. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Sunday's QOTD:
What is your favorite "Go To" meal that you make yourself when you are in a pinch, or the family is eating something you can't eat?

I aways have the small frozen portion of salmon in the freezer. With a little terriyake sauce and 4 minutes in the micro (after it has defrosted) add a salad and I have something for dinner.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Hey, hope everyone has had a great weekend!! Compared to all of you up north we Atlantans are weenies when it comes to cold....and it has been very cold here this weekend. I made the turkey chili from BL cookbook - I was skeptical at first but it was really good. We have had chili and a fire all weekend! Actually, this is a triumph because cold weather usually means a huge pot of loaded baked potato soup - there is nothing healthy or fat free about this soup! LOL!

QOTD Sunday - I keep grilled turkey burgers (a mixture of ground turkey, baby bellas chopped and garlic powder) in the freezer. As well as a variety of grilled chicken breasts with our favorite seasonings. Whenever I don't feel like cooking or we're in a pinch I just warm up a turkey burger or chicken breast and throw together some veggies and we're good to go.

Sunday QOTD-
For me it is my green smoothies. They take me literally 2 minutes to make and they satisfy my sweet craving while providing me the nutrition of all the greens and hemp seeds/ flax oil that are in it..really yummy ,quick and filling.

One other I like is to put some raw almond butter on a sliced banana (sometimes I even drizzle some agave on it) and then just eat, yummo

QOTD Sunday

For me it is a meal that my mom learned in WW.

Toast topped with cottage cheese and cinnamon sugar! I love it!!

I've been working on my Wii Fit (I just got it Friday PM) it is soooo kicking my butt!!! I love it!!!

Thanks MelanieC - its actually a quote from my WW leader - he's lost 120 pounds and kept it off for 7 years and he is so honest and brutal (not mean -but straightforward) - and I think it reasonated because I was looking for external ways to fix my weight problem rather than internal ways - I'm certainly still a work in progres.

QOTD - My "go to" meal is either Oatmeal with fresh fruit or 1 egg and 2 egg whites scrambled with spinach and mushrooms and a pinch of parmesean cheese and 2 slices of light dry tst. My sort of dinner/lunch one is 2 slices of weight watcher bread sprayed with olive oil mister and 1 slice of cabot 75% rf white cheddar then grilled and served with tomato soup. Its not the same as a grilled cheese but it is certainly a decent substitute.

I love the ideas so far - I'm always looking for new ones.

Good Morning all and happy MLK!

My go to food is chocolate oatmeal:
1/2c. oatmeal= 3 pt
1/2c. pumpkin = 0 pt
1/2c. water
1 packet sugar free cocoa = 1 pt
1 T. peanut butter = 2 pt
put the oatmeal, pumpkin, water, cocoa in micro. for 3 min. (use a good sized bowl, it will bubble up!) and then stir in the rest

I know it sounds weird but it is awesome and you get to count a veggie!

egg and toast for me! or a salad but it has been so darn cold in OH I really have not made that many salads lately!

Help me today!! I am getting pulled to the snacks and it's hard to resist today!! I already had a handful of chips. I don't know what's up today!!

Weighed-in this morning and am happy to report a loss of 4.2 lbs!

Karaoke on Friday was fun and I managed to have only one margarita. When I arrived a few friends were eating and, since I had just driven 2 hours, I was feeling a little hungry as well. No one was eating healthy but I ordered a salad and a diet coke and was happy. Haven't seen anyone since I started dieting and they all commented on my weight-loss which is great affirmation that what I am doing is working.

I dragged my husband to the gym with me yesterday and he worked out without complaint. DS went to the 'cool kid club' while we worked out then I took him swimming for 1/2 hour. Felt great when I left.

Coming down with a bit of a cold but I just took some OTC meds and will head to the gym around 2 today.

Good luck to all this week.

Good Martin Luther King Day to everyone!

Monday QOTD -
1. What is your favorite restaurant or type of restaurant (example -Japanese, mexican, chinese), for eating a healthy OP meal that you feel good about yourself when you leave knowing you are still on track when you leave.
2. What do you order?

For me -

Sushi - I can always eat healthy here, and when I leave I feel really good and know I'm still within my calorie range. Also another one that is good for me is Vietnamese- They use lots of veggies.

For Sushi I usually order a Seaweed Wakame salad, spicy tuna roll (with brown rice if the restaurant has it), and a salmon avocado roll (again with brown rice if I can).

For Vietnamese - I usually order Bun (rice vermicelli) with shrimp, pork or chicken.

When I eat out, I first search for that type of food online if the restaurant does not have nutritional info. I also will check my Calorie King book to see if the calories are in there. Or If I can't find calories for that food, I try to break it apart and count the calories for each componant. I am pretty good these days for gaging how many oz of meat are in a dish since I weight everything I eat anyway at home.

Help me today!! I am getting pulled to the snacks and it's hard to resist today!! I already had a handful of chips. I don't know what's up today!!

Hey Jen. I'm not sure what weight loss plan your doing, but what usually helps me is to see plan out my day. Make a list with your breakfast, lunch and dinner filled in. Then add the handful of chips.

Next you can see what is left? Plan out your snacks - if you really feel like having chips - plan it out and give yourself one serving. Or find something else that might fill the same void.

Are you hungry? Are you stressed?

Try drinking a cup or two of water first. Is it time for a meal?

You can do this. A little in moderation is fine. A healthy lifestyle isn't about giving up something forever.....it can be worked into your calorie range. Just take it one meal at a time today. What can you do to change this feeling of wanting to snack? Not sure if your at work or at home. Can you go for a walk, can you go work out? Go do something like :laundy: , or anything to take your mind off it. Do something nice for yourself. Watch a movie, paint your nails, read a book or ???

morning all...what are we supposed to post re weigh ins?

PM your weight to dare2dream ;
(how much you lost/gained and your new weight - example Lost 3 pounds, new weight 175)

You can post here if you want. There are no rules that you have to, but it usually does help if you do, especially if you gained. Something about claiming it and moving on really helps.
