What are the strangest names you have heard for kids these days...?

My sister-in-law named the newest member of the clan here....Landon....I just don't like it but some people do. ( think she was thinking Michael Landon but still)

Here are the other names of my nieces and nephews in-law...(DH's side) Faith Marie, Zoe Beatrice, Landon Peter Logan and Ashton John Patrick Micheal. Yes, she spelled Michael as ---Micheal. Isn't that a bit of a mouthful?

My nieces are Meghan (pronounced Meg-ann...We thought it should be spelled Meaghan which is the way the pronounce it) and Madisson (As you can tell, my brother's wife can't spell either)

What are the weird ones you've heard and why do you (or why do you not) dislike them? :earseek:

I have two cousins named Serena Rain and Jason Elvis.
I also have a second cousin named Heaven.

Lady at the mall today....

her DS was named "Jersey"....now it took me awhile to get used to the Dakota's and Montana's but at least those bring to mind pictures of nature, rolling vistas, etc.

Jersey just doesn't give me those scenic pictures....

I HATE trendy names.

#2 most hated = anything "geographic" -- the above mentioned Dakota, Savannah, etc.

#1 most hated = MALENA
Look up the name in the dictionary before you give it to your kids, people! It means bloody feces!!!!!!

My neice is named Cheyanne. I tell my brother all the time "Cheyanne is not a name it's a city in Wyoming"

I deal with names all the time at work. What was the weirdest one I ever saw? A girl named Auf Wiedersehen.

Just yesterday I saw on a form a woman's name: Happiness. :teeth:

And then a friend of my husband's told this story about a woman who named her baby boy Sh*thead (trying to avoid filter: *=i). Pronounced shuh-THEED. Apparently the doctor was unsuccessful in trying to get her to at least change the spelling, 'cuz nobody was gonna say shuh-THEED. I'm not kidding, either.

DD has a playmate who's name is Grantham. Coincidentally, it's also the name of the street his family lives on. I guess one could put a positive spin on it, at least he'll be the only kid in school with that name  .

:rotfl:  :rotfl:
That poor kid.....................:(

I know someone who had a dog named Sh**head as well, and they pronounced it the same way..

Personally I can't stand trendy names either.

Or "trendy" spelling.. for example, where I used to live was the capital of pretentoiouis names for pretentious children..

For example.. "Jax", --not Jack , or Jacques but Jax.

I had a girl in high school named Christy Christy, and another one named Merry Christmas...

We have a customer here at work, comes in quite a bit and we get a big kick out of seeing the name come across the desk...

Shakespeare Christmas

I couldn't make that up.

Wonder if he has a cousin named Mark Twain Groundhog Day

Let's see, these are the children I know:

Lyrica
Misty
Declen
Ganem
Danica
Kimball (boy)

I don't like any of these names, sorry

My DD has a "September Frost" in her school, no kidding

I know someone named Merrie Noel, she was born on Christmas Eve. I don't think I would call it weird, just different.

Now for some odd names that I have come across....

Orajohn
January
Arik
Damaris

I've also seen

Declan

Had a student named Quanika.
My Dad's name is Risden which is unusual.
My daughters know a girl named Chanda (full name is Crystal Chanda Leer)
I have a classmate named Sahara.
Had a student a few years ago name Josue (boy)
Had a student named Rizwan.

Liam is the Irish form of William. Its really not all that odd.

I swear these are true:

Jack Hammer
Richard Head (what's short for Richard?)
P*** Kno (not sure of the Korean spelling, but you get the drift)
Robin Robbins
Patricia and Patrick Fitspatrick (twins)

My brother in law had a patient named Semaj. The unwed mother said the boy's father was an idiot so she named the son the exact opposite-- she spelled James backward.

Another patient was Etienne - named after Etienne Aigner that makes purses, shoes etc. However the woman was soooo dumb that the pronounced Etienne the same as Aigner. Get it? So the girl pronounces Etienne the absolute wrong way.

I used to work at a software company that employed a lot of people from Asia. I always felt so sorry for the ones named Dung. I'm sure it's a nice name in their native country, but it doesn't work nearly as well in English.
