Weirdest names for people...(Inspired by the cat name thread)

I like hearing the ones that come from a first hand report because so many are just from jokes where you heard that *Someone* had this name such as:

Female - Fee Mahlee
the twins CY-phillis and GOnorrah
or the famous twins Orangejello and Lemonjello (li mahnjillo)
Pajama - Pah jha mah
Nosmo King (No smoking)

A few that I new personally were
Curtis Mathis
Harley Davidson (boy)

When I was pregnant with my first, we went to the drug store to get some prenatal pills. The older lady in front of us asked if this was our first baby. We said yes. She asked if we had any names picked out--we said no we were only 3 mos. pregnant. She told us to pick out names of things that made us happy. She then went on to explain that here daughters name was Candy--for her love of Chocolate and her sons name was Peter for her of her husband's *****!!! I kid you not when I tell this story! My Dh and I left the store laughing so hard, I swear I almost wet my pants!!

My kids names are either uncommon or spelled different:

Caeleh (Kay-lee)
Kayd
Cullen
Kelton

I forgot...There was a girl at my high school (two years ahead of me) named Silver.

2 kids, same family in Georgia:

Lemonjello (La mon' gillo)

Orangejello (Oh ran' gillo)

really

I almost forgot - my poor father used to get in alot of fights in the 50's with his name - Cornelius Dominic (Irish can you tell?)

Why my grandmother named him this with 3 other brothers with regulars names like Steven, Brian and John has always bothered him.

See I TOLD y'all this would come up. Do you know these kids personally? ;)

Not intended to sound as snide as it did...really!

When I worked at a resort timeshare we had plenty of odd names come through. The ones that come to mind right now are Rapunzel Secret and Johny John Johnson (were those parents fond of their own last name or what?!). I once had a boyfriend (lasted about two days) named Forrest Groves. One of my neices has a sort of different name, Jessye Zane. I think both were family names from my BIL, I know Zane is from where they are related to Zane Gray the writer. I kind of like the Jessie spelled Jessye thing but some of the odd spelling can get a little out of control, like once I saw Carol spelled Karoul.

I can tell you as a resident of Georgia, that's the oldest story in the book. :p

I know a girl named Princess. Who would do that to their daughter? That's what my mom used to call me when she was mad at me. :teeth:

Oh, I forgot, I have a friend whose father's name is Richard Adcock, he always went by the short form of Richard. Yep, that's right D*ck Adcock. How bad is that?

Everyone always tell me that my name is different....

Then they REMEMBER it different too..I am forever being called Mallory, Melanie, or some other Mel name... 9 times out of 10 when I tell someone my name they say Oh Hi Laura..Im wondering if they think I have a stutter.. Most of the time I let it go but if I say no its MA-lora they say WOW thats pretty and so different.

My mom also thought she was doing me a service by giving me an odd middle name.... Perie. (Pronouced pier (like a dock) ee)

Its Persian for Princess and she loved how it sounded with my first name.

Personally I hated it. I would NEVER tell anyone my middle name and then they would try to guess (knowing it began with P would almost always guess Penelope...) I think I would have preferred that!!

On the odd names I have heard...

There was a Darius while I was growing up and as I kid I always thought Darius Diarrhea.....

I knew a Michelene (mish-a-lean). Perhaps the feminine version of the Michelen man.

I knew a Love... actual first name

Moms good friend was Ted E Behr (middle name Edward..no kidding!)

Also knew a Darling. (girl luckily)

Oh I forgot one. I have a cousin named Precious. I wanted to know what drug her mother was smoking when she tought of this one. Imagine the name "Precious" as an adult

I have heard the Lemon jello/Orange Jello ones, as well the Female one and I just heard the S***head one last year in the teacher's lounge.

The following are ones I have known personally:

-Adidas
-Heaven
-Fisher
-Nadira

At one school I taught in there were two beautiful little girls (another sister at home) whose last name was spelled Urin. My friend tried to help the poor girls out and asked the mom "Is it pronounced 'yur-een" to which she said, "No, it's yur-in"

Some aren't that weird sounding (okay, maybe they are), but they are spelled completely different than they sound, like:

-Koax (pronouced Kwi-uh with a long i sound)
-Quanna (kee-o-nuh, short o sound) This poor child was called kwa-nah for the entire year by the other fourth grade teacher, even after I told her how to pronounce it. SHe said "It's spelled kwa-nah, I'm going to pronounce it kwa-nah "

I think one of the funniest last names I've heard was one I saw when keeping stats for baseball in high school. One boy on the other team had the last name "Astrop enis" (Had to put the space to write his name without being blocked) I would hope it was pronounced as-trop-in-us, but it sure looked funny written down.

Lori P. :)

These are too funny so I'm adding my two cents.......

I taught a kid named "female" - pronounced 'feh - mah - lee'
- a kid named "margarine" - pronounced 'mar - gar - reen'
- a kid named "tara" - whose last name was Paige.
- a kid named "barbie" - whose last name was Kues.

What were these people thinking? !!!

I worked in child care for many many years before having my son:

Over the years I had kids named:

Precious
Prima
Honor
September
Forrest
Axel
Philip (which isn't too bad expect his full name was Philip Philip Phillips  )
Winston
Heaven Angel (first & middle name)

I don't know what some of these parents were thinking of!!!!

My DH and I once knew a couple who named their boy Dilton (a family name I think) and named their daughter Elora Danon (after the character in a movie - I think it was the name of the baby princess).

Michele

My dad was principal of a high school in Kansas City. He had as students several of the names that have been mentioned. I won't go over them again.

I roomed with a girl in college whose brother was E. Z. Million.

I went to church with kids (all from one family) named Dusty, Misty, and Stormy. Actually, there was at least one other, but the name escapes me. I always wondered if one of the parents was employed by the national weather service.

:teeth: :teeth: Oh....I think I still have you all beat with my story on page 3!! Sure do!! ::yes:: :teeth:

I knew a family who named their daughter Amber Coon. (Coon (middle name) was a family name they said... but what a terrible name!)

Also knew a black boy whose mom named him Simian. Now I may be wrong but I can't imagine being a black parent and naming my child after a monkey! I'm not being racist or any such thing but it was always weird to me that someone wouldnt think that the kid might not want be associated that. Maybe kids today do not know that Simians are monkeys so they wouldnt make fun of him, but when he grew up...

And we have a winner....Mishetta with her patient, ******.(Vageena) That is the funniest thing I've read in a long time.::yes::
