OK so I started the group here for the same reason why I'm starting a group. My reason why I'm losing wait.

I joined weight watchers 2 weeks ago. Thats when my friends and I decided were going to Gay Days.

Weight watchers is helping me immensely , but I just don't want to tell my group the reason why I joined. That is , last time I was at Gay Days I had promised myself I was NOT going to be this big next time I come to Gay Days . Guess what , I am !!!!

Two weeks ago I started out at ( Psstt DON'T TELL ANYONE !!!! ) 280 pounds and 5 ' 11 " . I've since lost 11 1/2 pounds and would love to be at or below 250 when I get to Gay Days , you know all slinky and svelte ! I want to finally fit into that perfect swimsuit I bought to recuperate from Pleasure Island by the pool in.

SO I will continue to go to weight watchers and come back here and share my hints and tips and feelings with anyone else here . Feel Free to do the same

At WW I can't say " I know I'm looking better because that guy I sit across from at work won't stop looking at me " <G>

I like being a big boy , just not can't breathe need to rest big!

Lots of love and best of luck to all those out there trying to lose too!!!!
It ain't easy being pretty

Good Luck Boston! It must be hard up there with all that great food!

Looks like I'll have to call the Lodge and tell them one less bear, and add an otter for gay days! :rotfl2:

Yeah, I know where you're coming from. I was about 257 this January, and I decided to do something about it.

Three months later, I'm down 42 pounds. I'm below 220 for the first time since... man, I can't remember.

Even though I've been a big bear for a long time, I've decided I'm done with that part of my life. I'm hoping to hit 180 by August, and to maintain that weight for good.

If you're interested, I've been putting up regular updates on my blog, with the most recent being from a couple of days ago:
http://meanwhileelsewhere.com/2007/04/09/three-months-of-dieting/

Once you get into the flow of the diet, it's not tough. And in August, I'm going to get to increase my calorie count, gradually but significantly. Which is when I plan to (cautiously) renew my long-term relationship with both Ben and Jerry.

Keep at it. It's definitely worth it.

I'm always trying to lose weight, so I'll hang on this thread.

For breakfast I just has a lean cuisine chicken and broccoli meal for 220 cals.

I'm now on my way to the gym for 20 minutes of elliptical and 60 minutes of spinning, which is strength training this week, week four of our annual periodization training.

I never lose weight, but at least with this training, so far, I've lost .5% more of body fat, down - over the last year - from 49% to 41%.

So, that's right, no one messes with me, Mike! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Have a great day!

My DP hits the gym daily.........I just need to convince him that stopping on the way home for "Chineese Take away" is not the best thing to do!

Hello everyone!! I noticed this thread as I was scrolling down...just wanted to mention that there's a great support group right here...its W.I.S.H, and I just signed up for some of the challenges they have...its a great place to vent and get support! I'm also on the "lose weight before I go to disney" kick...actually I need to change my life, cause I'm way too heavy. Anyway, just wanted to mention W.I.S.H!

OrlandoMike--I noticed you're a Cedar Point fan. That's about 10 minutes from my house...:thumbsup2

I understand. I turn 30, 6 months from today and I am trying to drop a bunch of weight before then. Currently at 263 nd would love to get down to 230 by my 30th. THe other goal is to lose the weight before my Disney trip at the beginnnig of December. I want ot look better and feel better on this trip. I realized this past October how much more difficult Disney is with this much more weight.

Good luck in your goals! Together we can all do it... Damn, what happen to the Pixie Dust Weght Loss Plan?

I just had an appt with my Dr. last night...I need to lose about 50 lbs...I think my cholesterol is at a record high...Yikes! So at Gay Days, I am going to have to stick to the salad side of things...

Hurray to everyone who has lost weight , and Hurray for everyone else who is going to lose weight.

It is not easy ! I know in the past I always get to a place that I feel like quitting. With all of us here cheering each other on , hopefully each and every one of us will make it through for the amount we need to lose.

I just had a Root Beer Float it was delicious . I used Diet root beer , and fat free cool whip. Really low in calories , no fat. Lots of taste!

If anyone is interested, the diet that I've been on is free, online, and geared toward, well, smart people. I found the book fascinating, and I'm ecstatic with the results.

It's called The Hacker's Diet.

Please keep in mind that going below about 1400 calories per day is dangerous, folks. Talk to your doctor before starting any major weight loss. (Umm... no, I haven't, myself, but I really should have.) And drink lots of water during weight loss; your body is flushing a lot of toxins out. Your kidneys will thank you.

I really can't recommend this diet enough. Not only is it great at breaking down the mechanics of fat loss, but it's got a good solid plan for keeping the weight off too.

check out bodyforlife.com, workout 6 days a week, but man do you tone up quickly.

check it out, not for the faint of heart.

My exgf and I were doing body for life for about 1.5 months before one disney trip. We went out the first night and ate the way we always ate at Disney - we both thought we would die! We had to go back to the hotel & sleep for 10 hours. Now a days if I don't gain more than 2lbs at Disney it's a win.

The "Smart Ones" meals are GREAT. I'm a big fan of the Sante Fe beans and rice, and the deserts are great too.

There is also a great fat-free brownie mix by Krustease that tastes really good. Whole grain pasta is great on WW, and if you get the Thomas light whole grain english muffins, they are only a point a piece on WW so you can have 2 and still be ahead on points :)

I just found caramel pudding made by Jello and its low fat and no sugar and 1 point each . It taste sooooo goooood! I was expecting to not enjoy it , and was very surprised how good it did taste.

On another note. I get an hour for lunch at work. I use 1/2 to eat and the other 1/2 to walk now. Sometimes during my walk I do not want to be doing it , but I think about how I will feel AFTER I do my walk and it makes me keep going. I feel like not doing it, only while doing it , but I fell good about walking for the rest of the day.

Is anyone else getting on the scale and knowing they are losing weight , but not feel like you are?
I look at myself and don't see any change yet! Hopefully that will change before I get to Gay Days

Thanks everyone , good luck !!!

:hippie:

So inspired by this thread, I decided to check the scale this morning. I found that after the holiday food (wich I never entirely got rid of), my B-day, and easter, I've GAINED 15 pounds :(

Time to go back on carrot sticks and hummus!!

After reading the Hack guide to weight loss I just enjoyed 1/2 bag of light popcorn (130 calories).

It was tasty and I can now delay lunch a bit while I work in the old sermon for tomorrow.

Working AND watching what you eat , nice job!

I hope the sermon is as easy as the bag of popcorn .

Boston, glad you started this thread. I have been trying to apply to the local police academy...however in speaking to the recruiters my weight has prevented me from continuing with the process. So...I'm down 21 pounds in the last six weeks. But it has been rough. And 230 is still enough to slow ya down on the 2-mile run...trust me...:scared:

So...I think I shall set a goal for myself. If I can hit 200 (safely) by the end of the summer, I shall throw in an extra vacation this fall. If I lose and maintain, a week-long stay at POR shall be mine. I figure I can afford it what with all the money I'll be saving on fast food

One quick question for Boston and CochKahuna: on what site did you guys find the picture of the rainbow flag with 'Disney'? I LOVE IT! :thumbsup2 It must be made into my new bumper sticker.

This will be our third GayDays and I am determined to lose weight before this event. Just weighed in at 206 (and I'm 6'2") but my goal is to be well under 200 by June 1st. Time to stop using Bowflex as an expensive coat rack!:cool1:

Good Luck . It is quite doable to lose 6 pounds by end of this month ( if your just starting to lose weight ) and then lose even more in May.

My niece came into the living room the other night and asked me when I got the treadmill that was in the corner. Uuhhmmm 2 years ago! I just unfolded it and set it up to use .
