Weight Loss Support Group

Hi NISA Charlotte NC guy here close but not that close.
Over a year ago i maid a bet with two guys at work on who could lose the most weight in 4 months. I came in 2nd at 27lb top guy lost 47lb.
So to keep me from getting it all back i went to the gym.
My goal was 185 what i was in HS. A year later and i,am 195 (I know i went the wrong way) but when i got in there I like the Muscle look better.
It's not been a fun road but the pay off has been worth It.
So all of you keep up the good work and remember it's not all good days.
There will be weeks that no matter how hard you work you get nowhere
and the next week it just falls off.

MY payoff was in a store one day buying some beer and and the girl told me i look damn good to be 40.

You guys are doing amazing.. keep up the good work.. :)

The BF and I keep on meaning to go on a diet, or start working out but with the summer here, its on birthday party after the next, bbq's and more reasons to eat than not.. but we are trying starting next week...

so here gos nothing :)

This is the perfect thread for me today!! I’ve started a healthy way of eating/living this week. The last two years of my life were spent working and taking care of my terminally ill mother… and I didn’t had the strength to deal with my weight and in fact gained a few pounds more.
Right now I’m not following a strict diet, just portion/calorie; my partner is a yoga instructor so she’s helping me with my asanas and I’m walking an hour a day.
I’m trying to make this process “fun” for me. Any tips?

I'm sorry about your mom. I'm glad you are now focusing on YOU! Not that I have fun changing how/what I am eating but one thing I HAD TO DO to not give up was not over do it.

People told me I should walk 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. I never got off my butt to walk , HOW WILL I HANDLE ALL THIS WALKING? I didn't I was also told to eat 5 Fruits and Veggies a day, YEAH RIGHT!!!! I was lucky if I had french fries every day .

What I DID DO was start small so I didn't feel like I was overwhelmed I promised myself 5 minutes a day 3 times a week and only 3 fruits and veggies a day

I found out it wasn't so bad to do so little and worry about just a bit more. This was the end of March and now I LOVE walking just about every day , and I do 2 miles in 28 minutes( when I first did 2 miles it was at 39 minutes ) not to fast but speedily comfortable <?> and NOW I do eat 5 fruits and veggies most days cause I took the time to find things I liked , a little at a time.

Good Luck and keep coming back to give and get support :grouphug:

:hippie:

As for tips...

Playing Music really makes the hour on the Elliptical go by really fast....

I started my diet back in January, and cut my calories down to 1500 per day. Simple, straightforward, no nonsense. I could eat anything I wanted, as long as I stayed within that limit. It forced me to eat a bit healthier, as you get a lot more salad for your calories than you do, say, ice cream, but I did eat ice cream. And fast food. And frozen dinners.

Here it is, seven months later, and I've dropped from 258 to 185. I was shooting for 180, but everyone is telling me I'm too thin already. I spent this month coasting down slowly to end the diet, and have added eight hundred calories back in to my daily routine. 2300 calories is a lot of food. But it's what I should be eating to maintain a stable weight.

I'm going to track my calories at this level for another year, to get my body into the habit of staying weight-stable and to get me intimately familiar with what I can eat. After that, I monitor my weight daily, and if it's trending upwards, I start monitoring again.

I thought I'd let you all know, now that I'm all svelte and stuff. It can be done. Check out The Hacker's Diet for all the details (totally free, no nonsense, great read) and know that it's definitely worth the effort.

I have abs again. Abs! I didn't have those in high school. My doctor was so impressed with me, he's checking out the diet himself. And now my mother no longer worries about me being overweight.

Now she's worried about me being too skinny.

Sigh. :sad2:
