Hi Everyone!

Okay, I know we don't want to admit it, but the truth is that you've probably put on a pound or two (or more) during the 09/10 holiday season. :rolleyes1

I know I've gained 10 lbs. since Thanksgiving, but it was definitely worth it.

A lot of people tend to put weight-loss on their list of New Year's resolutions; I definitely am. I'm just wondering what you plan on doing to lose those holiday pounds. We can all share tips and suggestions to start the year off happy and healthy. :goodvibes

Personally, I'm gonna try to get more exercise. I'm shooting for a high-impact, 1-hour workout, 3 or more times per week. I'm also cutting back on sweets, which is my weakness at this time of year. :thumbsup2

What are your plans to drop a few pounds and get in shape for a fun, fantastic 2010? :)

Simon

my resolution is to move more - I want to me able to move more easily and often. To that end I need to drop pounds, stretch, get stronger, and develop more stamina. I like the thought for me that those things are just a means to an end - for some reason that helps me do those things. So I am on a 30 day experiment of no wine or other booze. And I am on my 6 th nite so far. Also am walking a lot more and restarted my yoga practice. Just planned my South Beach menus for the next week and shopped for the groceries, plus threw out all the not allowed food I had on hand. I feel pretty good about all this. Could use a support group!

Wow...my resolution for this year also was to 'MOVE MORE'.
I just recently had a birthday and my dh got me a Wii. I have been using that playing baseball, bowling, boxing, sword fighting etc and I feel good that I am off the couch and moving. I am also going to try other things to "move" other then the Wii.

I guess as time goes on and I start feeling better, I will advance and maybe cut things out that I truely love...like the wine, beer, chocolate etc.

I have a short term goal so far to lose some weight before my trip to Universal the end of April.

Move more.
Eat less.

Eat colorful foods.
Eat real meals and real snacks.
No mindless eating and grazing.
Again, no mindless eating!

Not sure what my plan is yet...but I need to loose weight!!

I started 6 months ago in June. I am walking 5-6 times a week, though I have taken a couple of weeks off through the holidays. I need to get back into my routine. I am trying to move more and hope to add more to my routine, to keep from getting stuck at a plateau. In 6 months, I am 1/3 of the way to my total weight loss goal. My target is to be at my goal weight by the Podcast Cruise in December. I am not changing much what I am eating (as I have tried that in the past only to gain back everything lost and then some more), though I am trying to watch portions better.

Good Luck Everyone. Start out slow and gradually build your routine into a habit. The advise I started with was Walk a short distance, such as walk to the next driveway then turn around a go back, then the next day go to the next driveway, adding a driveway a day until you are getting a good work out.
I listen to the Podcast while I walk, so on long shows I usually listen over a couple of days. I also go back an pull shows from the archives to listen to, when we don't have a show or I am caught up with the current shows.

For anyone who may be interested in starting a running program, there is an amazing website called www.coolrunning.com. They have a Couch to 5K training program that lasts for 9 wks, allowing you to go from no activity whatsoever to running a 5K (seriously, I was a skeptic and it worked for me!). You do a combination of jogging and walking three times per wk and it is totally doable. I have tried running in the past and always suffered some type of injury (foot pain, hip pain, etc.). This program works you so slowly/gradually that it's easy to do without injury.
I am now, unbelievably, up to 4 miles three to four days per wk. My husband was reminding me yest. that a year ago I claimed that I could never run one mile! I am a big girl and I have never been athletic. I know it is such a cliche, but if I can do it ANYONE can!!! I have never felt healthier.

I lost 18 lbs last summer/fall and managed to keep it off during the winter Holidays. :)

I now need to tone. I bought some DVDs and will start with that. :) I do need some tips on staying motivated to exercise.

I used a nutritional cleansing program to lose the weight. It was quick and easy. I don't know if I can post it here -but if anyone wants more info PM - I am happy to share.

I've mentioned this a few times before, but feel the need to do it again. In just under a year I lost 119 pounds using the Jenny Craig program. To date, I have kept it off for almost two years (my two year anniversary is in April).

I like to keep a "Disney buffer" and stay about 5 pounds under my goal weight. This helps so I don't have to worry about watching what I eat while at WDW (or soon to be DLR!!!!). My goal is to keep this buffer going strong. I gained a few pounds during the holidays and winter break, but they are almost all gone.

The Wii Fit Plus has definitely helped me through this. I absolutely DETEST exercising. When I lost that large amount of weight, it was found that I am so active in my daily work day that I didn't need to exercise each week to shed the pounds. The only time I found myself doing so was during the summer when I am off from school and sitting on my rear.

I honestly cannot say enough about the Jenny Craig program. It really works miracles.

I'm still amazed at that number....119! Good for you! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Paul. Sometimes it can be embarrassing to say because I was that big. I'm really proud of myself for doing it though. :)

Thanks for this info. I think I might try it. It is too cold here right now to begin an outdoor running program. My DH will certainly be surprised when I dust off the treadmill. :)

I am starting to run "slowly" but run on the treadmill and also outside when the weather is permitting. Also bought a bunch of low fat diet recipe books and trying new recipes every week. I lost 30 pounds so far and my goal is to be fit enough to sign-up for marathons. Locally first and then try one of Disney's marathons.

Do the disboards have meets during the marathons? Someday I would like to participate, if they do.

another vote for the Couch to 5K (C25K) program on CoolRunning.com! i'm on week 4, and i haven't had any pain in my shins, which is HUGE for me. i haven't seen any weight loss yet, because i have major problems with over-eating, but i can definitely tell that my physical fitness is getting better.

the new blog in my siggie is my weight-loss blog...i'm not *too* on top of keeping it updated, but hopefully as i see more results i'll be more motivated to post.

DD15 and I have started with the low carb low sugar. Not really a "diet" just a new way of eating.

My dh had been diagnosed with type 2 a few years back and just cut WAY back on the carbs and sugar and he lost like 80lbs.

By reading labels now I see how many carbs I would eat on a daily basis!! OH MY!!!

Between that and moving more...we are planning on dropping some lbs!

I have a goal to move more too!

I don't really need to lose weight, I am pretty much on the button for my height and age, but I have been told I need to exercise by my doctor for my anxiety issues. Exercising is a great way of getting rid of extra adrenaline, so I plan to do more jogging and less sleeping!!

Good Luck everyone!

:tinker:

Well something just clicked in my head this New Years Eve, so my New Years Res is to slim down by eating better and exercise. (cut out surgar) I hate to do both, but I have stuck with it thus far and lost about 10lbs. The best of all is I don't feel like I am being torchered.

I need to lose about a good 30-40lbs so I am on the right track. We are planning a Disney trip for May and then Nov. I would love it if I can fit in my summer clothes from last year and maybe even the clothes from the year before. I hate the fact that almost every year I have to buy new clothes because I constantly gain weight but I love food and not exercise. That is changing and I am so glad.
