I'm back, I'm back, I'm back. All my issues with the computer and the DIS aren't resolved, but it's much, much better. As normal as the DIS gets. So I'm back to posting on my first home, rather than relying on FB to give me the skinny of some of you.
Jeff: As usual, I love all the pictures: Princess #1's triathlon is great. She looks like she's having lots of fun this year. Your pictures of the clinic really highlight what a community of runners your group is. Like you, though, I'm puzzled that the Queen and Princess #2 didn't collect lots of pictures of their encounter with Maya Sorento-Ng. I'm not sure they're related to you.
Beth: Congratulations on your 1/2 marathon. DOOD just found out there's an ultramarathon in Lehigh Valley that he might want to do sometime. His friend is pushing it, but I don't think he can do it this year. Your performance on the race was more than respectable, especially given the rain and your hip! All that training is paying off. I didn't realize you're doing the Philly Distance Run--when is that? How long, a 1/2?
And woo hoo for getting back to the 2x a day workouts. That's my goal for June, to work up to double-dipping regularly. (That's when DOOD is gone, so it's a good time to change up the routine.) And Jillian's DVD are in my Netflix queue for June, too!
About diet Coke...I give it up for a while, then go right back to drinking it. Abandoning the diet soda for good is a Holy Grail of healthy habits for me. And it sounds like I need to read up on Jillian's position on a lot of things, both exercise AND nutrition, and even read
Master Your Metabolism? I'll be interested in how your experiment with the eating/diet Coke goes over the whole week. The 4 pounds you lost is QUITE the incentive.
Maria: I replied on the 'Ohana thread, but I picked up the
Beck Diet Solution at the library yesterday. I was at the Carnegie Main (the main Pgh public library, not my local one), saw it on the shelf, thought of you, and grabbed it. How are you adjusting to your lower points category? I'm not on WW, but I know how disgusted I get when I lose weight so that must means I need to eat even fewer calories. Doesn't seem quite fair, KWIM?
I'm glad you're doing so well between WW, your switched-up WO routine, the
Beck Diet book, and your timeline. I like the way you use the word "milestone" too, as it sounds so much better than thinking about it as a deadline.

(The way I think.) And a big woo hoo for the 3 pound loss going into Mother's Day.

I know there were many indulgences yesterday, but also know you're not going to let that day of decadence (well deserved, you great mom) derail your week.
Vicky: Did you pick up flaxseed? I quite like it, now that I'm eating it regularly. And uh, yeah. I forgot to tell you what ratatouille looks like. I had the same reaction and it was hard to work myself around its appearance to appreciate the taste. I'm very driven by the visual. Congrats on your 10-mile LR! And your 5K sounds really, really cool. You'll be flying for it, I'm sure. (Nope, couldn't resist the pun.)
Cindy: Yay for the consistent eating during the week. It sounds like a second WW meeting might be just the support you need. That and a switched-up Friday routine, where a trip to the library sounds like a great compromise! The weekends are a danger time for me, too, especially Friday. (Take-out night.)
I try to balance out my regular groceries with organic when possible. It's so much easier during the summer, what with all the local farmer's markets. But like everyone, cost IS a factor for us.
Tracey: Did you take pictures of the tea? Is so, I'd like to see it, as that event sounds like so much fun. I know what you mean by journalling. I dislike doing it because I don't want "to be that girl." Unfortunately, I'm being to realize what happens to me if I don't journal (I gain weight, lots of it and quickly). So if I don't journal I'm going "to be that other girl," the one 50 pounds heavier and tired all the time (which I was). And that's less acceptable to me. *sigh*
Anyway, how is DS's ankle? Will he be able to compete? And your Girls on the Run 5K is this weekend, right? I haven't missed it yet? Are you excited??
As for me: DOOD's relay marathon--yes I know it's been ages ago--went well. It's still not a course either of us recommend. The hills would be hard to PR on, it goes through some broken-down neighborhoods as well as picturesque ones, and the crowds seemed really small. Plus, the water stops were all but useless. Some stops were literally one 6-foot table set up with styrofoam cups that you can't pinch to pour water into your mouth. And I saw water-stop volunteers who were texting instead of paying attention to the runners. I think the race will improve, but it's not of a caliber yet to justify traveling far to run/walk it. That said, DOOD did very well on his relay--ran 3/4 of the race for a little over 19 miles in 3 hours. Just to keep his teammates company. He felt strong enough to 14 miles this Saturday.
Okay, that's not really about me. About me. Did the RftC, untimed because I'm not paying extra for the chip for that race (too crowded). I was somewhere between 35-40 minutes, as I wasn't paying close attention myself. It was more about being there and thinking of Nancy.

That's the good news. The bad news is that I've been totally off schedule with working out and eating. I'm up a pound this week. And that's without being incredibly irresponsible with the eating/exercise combo. Just a little less focused.

It turns out you're my primary accountability system and without you (and with DOOD home all the time) my schedule has been thrown off. I'm back here, and with your help

, hopefully this week will be better.
