Weight loss for Wishers and becoming Leaner Meaners!

Mornin' friends!
Beth.....WTG on the 1 1/2 lbs.:cool1: I'm starting the book tonight! I hope your little guy is feeling better.
Stacie....Hope the foot is feeling better.
Vicky....hope the PT went well.
Howard....congrats on that 20lbs...WOW!
Lynn...how was ToT? It always amazes me that we get in so many miles at WDW.

My October goal was 5lbs...looks like I lost 3.5. I feel like I should be losing more quickly and unfortunately, I'm becoming a slave to the scale. I would understand it if I were within 10lbs of goal, but I'm about 18 lbs away:confused3 . Oh well, my November goal is 5 lbs again! slow and steady, slow and steady:) :)
****does anyone have ab exercises that they swear by? I'm looking to target the obliques.
I did my 9 miles on Sunday and it was ok, nothing stellar, and to be honest, I'm not even sure of the time. I started on the River Trail with 5 miles and then had to get back home and did 4 miles there. I was worried about breaking it up, but my son said that as long as I got the miles in, that's all that counts:cloud9: he's my hero. He also placed 2nd in Sectionals this weekend, so on Saturday, he's running at the State Meet for XC....he's so nervous (and I'm nervous for him). Have a great day all!:flower3:

Hi Lean Meaners!

I have just a minute to post, so I wanted to stop by and say hi. :wave2:

Sadly, I must report that I dove off of the healthy eating wagon and right into a big pile of Halloween candy. :sad2: Since DH has taken most of the Halloween candy to work, I am trying to get back on the wagon, but it's hard since Kit Kats have become part of my daily routine.

Congrats to those of you who are keeping the pounds off. I am hoping to join your ranks soon. :thumbsup2

Good Morning Everyone,

Julie: You and me both with the Halloween candy. My solution was to eat so many of them I felt sick to my stomach, I'm not craving them any more. It's probably not the healthiest solution. Good luck finding your way back to the wagon.

Tracey: 3.5 lbs is awesome. Hopefully you'll get 5 for November. Huge congrats to your son for his awesome finish. I can't wait to hear how he does at states. Good job on your 9 miles. I think if you have to break it up every once in a while it's no big deal. It's better than doing just 1/2 of your workout then stopping.

Lynn: Glad you were able to get a lot of walking in at WDW, and not gaining any weight is terrific. I'm sorry those candy corns were so attracted to your cart. They sell the gourmet locally made candy corn in my grocery store. I put off buying them until right before Halloween, but by then the candy corn was sold out and they only had the Indian corn. It's good, but I like the candy corn better. I guess I'll have to wait until next year. Once I've had the gourmet stuff, it's hard to go back to the Brach's.

Beth: Sorry to hear your son is sick. I hope you haven't gotten it. I'm glad you enjoyed the cookie, you do have to treat yourself every once in a while. My problem is that one tastes like having more.

Howard: Great job on your 20 lb weight loss. It really will help your running. Do you plan on running hard at the Philly Marathon?

Vicky: Sorry about the weight loss. If I ate out a lot I'd gain too. I love having someone else cook for me. Yum! Hope you get out for your runs this week. Enjoy the nice weather while it lasts.

Stacie: Seems strange that you would be getting the chills. Sounds like you were hydrated and having a pack of beans sounds like it should be plenty of electrolytes. Maybe you're coming down with a cold? Hope not.

Jeff: Sorry to hear about the pulled muscle, I hope you recover soon.

Maria, Connie, Wendy, Jeanne, Mike, Lisa and all the others: Hello, how are things?

I made it back to a WW meeting this week. It's just the thing I needed. The group leader is fantastic. She had a quote written down something like: If your goal is important enough you'll find a way, if not you'll find an excuse. I'm going to remind myself of that. My short term goal is to track all of my food and stay within my points every day until Thanksgiving. So far I've done 2 days, 22 more to go. That way when I have a piece of pumpkin pie I won't feel guilty about it. My longer term goal will be to lose 13 lbs before my marathon. I plan to post my results here to keep me accountable.

I got out for an easy 5 miles yesterday. I'll run one more easy run, then get back to some higher intensity stuff next week. Then I'll have 15 weeks until my race. That should give me plenty of time to get ready.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

13 lbs to go to reach my goal.

So on Monday I told my PT about my weight gain. He thought it might be fluid retention from eating out ... until I told him that some of my shirts felt too tight and I had a jacket that wasn't comfortable being buttoned up. He looked disappointed and said "But you were doing so well..." Then I felt really bad that I let him down. We did a tougher workout and he asked me to keep a food journal which he's going to check on. So I'm back on track and hoping to lose weight or inches by January :)

Btw, does anyone have any ideas for warm breakfast items? Last month, I had swapped out my hardboiled egg for a bowl of instant oatmeal. My PT suggested I switch back to the egg. Thing is... I eat my breakfast at work. So I'm pretty much limited to the kettle or the microwave.

That's it for me. Congrats to everyone who's losing! Keep up the great work :)

Vicky,

I have made egg/cheese souffles ahead of time and then just reheat them at work. I don't remember the exact recipe, I think it's from the South Beach Diet cookbook, but basically it's eggs, skim milk, cottage cheese and some low-fat cheddar cheese. You whip it up and pour it into a casserole dish. It bakes at 350oF until firm ~45 minutes I'm guessing. You can bake it in small single serving dishes or a larger one, then just scoop it into a container for reheating. They are yummy. I'll try to find the amounts of each ingredient and post that later.

I've also just made a scrambled egg in the microwave. Just heat it in a bowl for 15 sec. at a time and then stir and repeat until it's cooked.

Cindy

I make my egg at home (any way you want) and heat it up in the microwave at work. Easiest for me, and saves alot of money!

Cindy: Sounds like things are on track for you! Training ebbs and flows with me.....right now I am getting my time and miles in, without worrying about how fast I am doing it. It's really working for me right now......for the longest time I was strictly worried about getting faster, and when I do that I lose the joy of what I am doing!

Mike: Sorry to hear about the workout......very frustrating indeed! Keep to it though, and things will get better soon!

Things seem quiet around here......maybe the wagon needs to go check up on some people! Big Vic, Tracey, Stacie, Jeanne, Wendy, and all those I forgot........get in an update soon!

Beth

Hi everyone!

Congrats to all the losers of excess poundage ...of which I am one! I have lost a pound a week for the last three weeks. At this rate, I will be wonderful by this time next year!!! :rotfl:

I have had some kind of bug and spent daze (sic) in bed feeling like I could just throw up and never actually doing it.

Breakfast at work.....How about a Jimmy Dean Delite Sandwich? They ar eonly 300 calories with egg white, lite cheese, turkey sausage and something which resembles a croissant. I think they are pretty good and are less than a $1 each. Or you can make your own sandwiches and freeze ahead. Use about 9 eggs scrambled, cheese, any vegetables, and any breakfast meat you like and bake in a square pan (sprayed with Pam) at 350 until set. Cut into 9 pieces and and place on a lightly toasted English Muffin (whole wheat!), wrap tightly and freeze. Just rewarm in a paper towel for a couple minutes and eat!

Howard: Great job on your 20 lb weight loss. It really will help your running. Do you plan on running hard at the Philly Marathon?

Cindy~ Thanks! The weight loss has certainly made my running a little easier and my overall "zone" pace has dropped considerably. I seem to run somewhere around an 8:30 pace naturally these days. Everything else seems slow to me... I know it is fast though. For marathons, I need to slow it down and pace myself. I am indeed running the Philadelphia Marathon on 11/23. I just ran the Marine Corps Marathon (10/26) with an overall time of 4:10:39 (9:27 pace). I am currently trying to fight off some plantar fasciitis (FP) in my left foot. I am taking a few days off to see if it helps. After the Philadelphia Marathon, I'll be running the Family 5K, Half Marathon and Marathon in Disney World in January.  Hopefully I'll be able to drop a few more pounds between now and January... tough to do with Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays coming up.

Hi to everyone else! :wave2:

:grouphug:

Howard

Just a quick "Hi" today -- I won't be at my desk all day at work, so I'd better post now!

Congratulations to all those losing weight! I was on a great tear, and then I gained 1.4 in Oct. Sigh. I'm not sure what's up with that. Anyway, I'm determined to get the scale moving in the opposite direction this month, just as soon as that Halloween candy is really gone...

I made myself do 3 mi last night, even though I was dead tired from being up too late Tuesday night. I'm on track with my Half training, so I figure eventually the lbs will either leave or become muscle.

Everyone have a great, Lean Mean Day!
Maria

Tomorrow should be dead at work, so I'm looking forward to catching up on the DIS!

Good mornin' leaners.
Connie...sorry you're feeling icky...get well soon.
Howard....Awesome time on the MCM!!!:cheer2: You rock!
Julie.....Halloween candy....those Reese's cups call my name...I'll be glad when they're gone.
Cindy...I think WW meetings are the way to go, they give you that extra motivation. Right now, it just seems like one more thing to squeeze into a busy week. You are so awesome for always giving words of encouragement, thank you!:flower3:
Vicky...sorry about the weight gain, but it sounds like your PT is getting you back on track. I'm a peanut butter toast eater for breakfast, I know it's not "hot", but it's not really "cold" either:lmao: .
Maria...sorry about the weight gain. The good news is that you're keeping track and getting right back on the wagon:yay: . I'm trying really hard to stay away from the Halloween candy, but I have had a couple of PB cups. My DH had made a bet with DS15 that if he set a new PR then DH would give up Halloween candy. Well, at this point, DH is not eating chips, cookies, or candy until Christmas. We are all very proud of him!:)
Beth...I started The Lightning Thief. You're right, it's really good.
I'm staying strong with eating and training and I'm hoping to see (and feel) results this month! Take care all and stay strong.:cheer2:

Poppin in on the Meanies to drop off some breakfast ideas. These are from the flat belly diet book and don't require lots of work. Most can be cooked at home and heated at work.

1 toasted whole wheat English muffin drizzled with 1 Tbsp olive oil anf filled with 1 lg poached egg, 2 slice reduced fat swiss cheese and 1/2 medium tomato sliced. This is 387 calories

100% whole wheat wrap filled wtih 1/2 cup scrambled egg whites, 1 oz feta cheese, 1 diced plum tomato and 10 lg sliced black olives. This is 364 calories

1 toasted whole wheat bagel with 2 T natural cashew butter and a clementine. This is 400 calories.

3 soft corn tortillas filled with 1/2 cup scrambled egg whites, 1/3 cup avocado, 1/4 cup low fat cheddar cheese and 1/4 cup salsa verde. This is 363 calories.

Hope this helps on the warm breakfast choices. I usually stick with 1 cup of oatmeal with some fruit and sliced almonds for my warm breakfast. The souffles sound yummy too!!!

Keep up the great work everyone. And, Howard, jealous of the natural 8:30 pace. I am only down to about a 9:30 on short distances (8-10 miles).

Hey Meannies! lol!

I've been code watching over on the Resorts thread. Supposed to be some HUGE deal coming out around 5 pm today.

Did I mentioned I'm getting pulled into doing the Princess Half in March? 8 weeks after my FIRST Half in January??? I hope I can handle it. SIL wants to make a girls trip out of it. :goodvibes

Yeah...so I'm code watching for our dates. From what I can see, it won't be of soo much benefit to us since we're going for less than a week.

Off to plan...

Have a great day!
Stacie

Wow! Thanks so much for all of the great breakfast suggestions!! I will definitely give some of those a try on the weekend! We still have another day or so left of warmish weather so I'm not feeling too chilly in the morning.

Connie - We don't have Jimmy Dean - the joys of living in Canada. We usually miss out on the good stuff but I like your idea of freezing sandwiches!

Howard - I'm wishing I could run that fast naturally :) I think that's awesome!

Tracey - PB is one of my weakness! Natural PB is my favourite but a little messy sometimes.

Lisa - I was eating oatmeal with nuts but my PT said I should stick to my egg instead. I thought it was a good choice but I think he wants me to cut down on the carbs.

Maria - WTG on getting out there for your 3 miler!

Stacie - Good luck on getting a code for January! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I'm on the fence for the Princess 1/2. I'm wondering if I can do two 1/2 marathons so close together.

Make it a great day everyone!!

Hi!

Vicky - I used to make those sandwiches every week and keep them on hand for the kidlets and hubby who were in a hurry getting out the door. They loved them. You can also use biscuits but they have lots of fat and canned are usually full of trams fats!

Hey, Leaner-Sweeties ('cause there's not a mean one among you ;) )

I haven't really fallen off the edge of the earth -- just the edge of the wagon. Not bad binge eating, just that not-being-too-careful eating that results in slow and steady little gains. Definitely out of Onederland, but I can see its borders and could re-enter within 3 weeks, I think.

Loved the WW saying about goals and excuses. Whne I was gearing up for Disneyland, nothing could stop me from sticking to my program. Now that I'd just "like to lose some" before Disney and my next Goofy attempt, I'm having a hard time getting started and everything seems to cry, "Oh, start tomorrow. You've got time." In fact, I have precious little time and I KNOW for a fact that weight loss really does make going faster easier.

Tonight I am going to spend some time thinking about my goal and about what it will require from me. If my goal is important enough, I will find a way... right?

I've missed you guys. Loved all the breakfast suggestions too!

Well, I wasn't lucky avoiding the stomach yuck......my ds passed it on to me, but good! Spent the whole day in bed in misery......finally feeling somewhat better but really scared to eat!

Glad to see some of you checking in. Good to hear from Howard and Wendy. Wendy, don't worry about the little lapse....you will get your mojo back. Onederland is right around the corner...... It happens to all of us. Remember, this is a lifetime journey, and it doesn't happen all at once.

I haven't been able to workout the last two days because of being sick, but I hope I am better for tomorrow.

Beth

hey everyone...

Just been super super super busy with DD. I did another 5K last weekend (same time as last time 33:45!), and got in my LR, 7 miles yesterday pushing DD in the stroller. More of a wog, but at least I got it done. I've got a girls weekend planned with a friend to visit another friend in west palm.

Scale has been bouncing all over. I am now finally back to within 2 pounds of pre-TOT weight. I lost 3.5 pounds in the last week!! Hopefully it will continue in that direction.

 to everyone!

Howdy Lean Meaners!

Ok, still on track with the training. I just have to do 30 min on the bike today, so that's a no-brainer. I'm still waiting for it not to make my seat sore, but I've accepted that's the price I pay for just doing it once a week...:thumbsup2

AmyK -- It seems you are busier now than before! That's excellent, it means you are really enjoying the time with DD, and I'm sure she's thriving. princess:

Beth -- Feel better! :wizard: I'm sorry, it is really hard to avoid it when the whole house gets

Wendy -- You had great words of wisdom. It is all about choices, and I make the wrong ones far too often. :headache:

Vicky -- You have Aero bars! That has to be one of the best joys of living in Canada! :cloud9: I love the dark ones, and of course they don't stock them here. I can get mint and milk, but stumbling upon the dark ones is always a cause for mini celebration!

Stacie -- Does the code deal help you? It does nothing for us because we won't buy 4 days of park tickets, but it seems great for people planning a week in the parks. :thumbsup2

Lisa -- The whole wheat wrap with the black olives sounds incredible! I am definitely trying that! :cool1:

Tracey -- PB is ridiculously yummy, isn't it? I just try to stay away, but somehow it always finds its way into our home :confused3

Howard, Cindy, Connie, Jeanne, Mike -- :wave2: Hang in there, guys!

Happy Weekend!
Maria :tilt:

Hi Y'all! Just a quick run-by....DS is running in the state champs tomorrow and I've gotta get everything ready.
Lisa, how was you WDW b'day? Stacie, did the code work for you? I would love to do the Princess 1/2, maybe next year. Vicky, did your weather turn cold? Ours sure did. Connie, how's the shoulder? Wendy, I saw the GORGEOUS picture that you posted on the weekly thread. If I lived in NC, I would have to buy a pass for the Biltmore Estate...I'd love to explore the property. Beth, so sorry you're sick. Hope you're feeling better today. Amy, pushing the stroller is a tough job isn't it? But, it does help with speed. Maria, the code didn't help us either. Although, it might be enough to convince DH to take all the kiddos in June.:yay: :yay: :yay:
My run was pushed off the calendar yesterday and today is my 5 miler and I still haven't made the time. looks like it's gonna be an evening run for me. Take care all and have a great weekend.

Tracey: I need an update. How did DS do in the States? I googled it, but since I don't know his name or the HS he runs for or the class he competes in I didn't find out any info. Inquiring minds......
