Weight loss for Wishers and becoming Leaner Meaners!

Hi Cindy,
Thanks for asking....he came in 21st and his time was 16:34. So he's an All-Stater and he's thrilled! It was a very exciting day and we're so proud of him. The local running store reported that a freshman had not come in under 33rd in the past 7 yrs. Sorry for the "mommy brag";) . He's on :cloud9: !!!

Tracey, Congratulations to your son. What an incredible accomplishment!! You should be proud and brag all you want!!!

Good Monday morning folks! I am alive, and back to work. Boy, this GI bug was a bad one.......still have the headache that came with it though. It drained me, that's for sure.

I didn't run for three days.....or do much else. I did clean my bathroom really good, and the boys room. I got the leaves raked up too.......so actually, a pretty productive weekend being sick! I did get a 6 mile run in yesterday, which was super slow.......but it was a nice cool day on the trail.

I didn't get to catch up with everyone.......I will go back and read up and post later....

Beth

Hey you guys!!!

So...that 4/3 discount on the rooms didn't help me a bit! We're only going to be there for 4 days. I got an AP rate for January and then I did get a good price through the Disney Sports folks for the Princess Half in March (not renewing the annual pass.). I think it will all work out.

I got my 7 miler in yesterday. Overall it went well. We averaged a 15 min pace so I'll take it. My feet did ok overall, but the back of my right knee was KILLING me by the time I got done. Ouch! I iced it and it was sore all day, but it's a bit better today. Same thing happened for the Minnie 15K. Not sure what it is or how to fix it...

I got my new shoes in. They are nice, but it seems a bit more narrow at the top. I walked on the TM for 15 min and left foot went numb! ugh!!! I tried them out the next day for 20 min and seemed to do a bit better. I hemed and hawed and I've ordered a Wide pair from runningwarehouse.com (WISHD Discount!) to try out since they have free shipping both ways. I also found my previous version online (no discount) and ordered those too. I have so much trouble w/ my stupid feet!

Beth...Glad you are feeling better!

Tracey...Yay for your son!!!

Hope you all have a great day!

Stacie

Stacie

Try stretching your hamstrings and calves a bit more...usually when I get knee pain right down the back of my knee, its because I haven't concentrated on the backs of my legs...

Mike's Place:

Been afk here for a while. Had the MRI last week, but haven't heard back from my surgeon , which I guess is good. Been walking, stretching and swimming mostly, trying to stave off weight gain until training begins in earnest for the 2009 Ironman in Madison.

Mike

Good Morning Everyone,

Julie: You and me both with the Halloween candy. My solution was to eat so many of them I felt sick to my stomach, I'm not craving them any more. It's probably not the healthiest solution. Good luck finding your way back to the wagon.

Cindy, I tried your method, but it didn't work. I felt sick for a while, but then the feeling went away and more candy jumped out of the bowl and into my hands. :confused3

Thankfully, the candy is gone now and I'm really trying to avoid the kids' snack food.

Tracey - what a great accomplishment for your son! You must be so proud of him! :cool1: :thumbsup2

Hey gang can I join in here?

With marathon weekend 2 months away I would really like to take about 20 pds less of me to disney.

Good mornin' friends!
Cindy...I'll pass on the congrats to Jake! :) Thanks.
Beth...Wow, you still get alot done when you're sick. Glad you're feeling better, but hoping the headache goes away soon.
Stacie...when the back of my knee starts hurting, it's usually time for new shoes for me. I'd definitely try Mike's advice and work on stretching out those hamstrings.
Mike...keep us updated. Is the walking and swimming working? I always worry about keeping the weight off when I cut back on running.
Julie...thanks for the congrats, I'll pass it along. We are so proud of him:cool1: .
HockeyChic...join on in. We're all looking to drop some poundage.

I had the best 10 mile run ever on Sunday. I ran on the river trail and I realize that I LOVE running through fallen leaves. I managed a 10:30 pace and that was taking a 1 minute walk break every 19 min. Last night I had step class. Gotta go!

Welcome :welcome: HockeyChic! Everyone is welcome here! What kind of plan are you on for weight loss? That is always helpful to us to lend support.....so many different plans here, you will be sure to find a 'buddy'!

Tracey: Congrats to your son! Great job! You must be so proud!

Julie: I know how it is with temptation.......I am just SO glad I avoided the whole Halloween candy thing......the sugar cravings are the worst to kick. I hope things are going better!

Mike: I hope your MRI results are positive! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Stacie: I hope the new shoes are a help to you...... I love  new shoes!

So, I am getting slowly back to normal.....it was a tough bug to get over. I got Pilates in last night.....boy I missed it! I will be sore later though..... :scared1: I also got 3.5 miles in on the elliptical trainer, which I am glad for. The whole family went to the gym, so I could squeeze in an extra 30 min after class. Dinner was way late though.......I had some cranky boys before dinner was done! :sad2:

I am down 12 pounds so far......it was a little more after being sick, but I had a couple rebound pounds come back on after I started to eat and drink again. Let's keep this party going!

Beth

Hey Lean Meaners!

Today did not get off to the best start. Theoretically, I was going to be on the TM around 5, and then do half an hour on the bike. But my brain knew it was a holiday (Veteran's Day in the US, for our friends North of the Border)...so I slept 'til almost 7. I've finally dragged myself to work (I'm making a guest appearance, not really doing anything too stressful since most of my co-irkers are holidaying). I'm leaving at 2:30, and I'll do my workout as soon as I get home. I just wanted to have it out of the way like I usually do.

We discovered yesterday that DH and I had different expectations for the Disney Half. I expected it to be on Jan. 10th and he expected it on the 17th. :rolleyes1 Good thing I make all the travel arrangements. On the down side, I let him make the training schedule, so now we have to cut a week. I'm cutting next week, because I figure it's easier to do nearer the beginning. So, next week my short wogs will be 4 miles instead of 3.5. It's going to be interesting to see how much sleep I need next week!

Kim -- :welcome: So glad you found your way here! The Lean Meaners are awesome, and full of good advice. I just need to take some of it...

Julie -- I am with you, so glad the candy has moved on. For some reason, Thanksgiving is just easier to handle. I think it's because I can't sit and mindlessly eat stuffing...:thumbsup2

Mike -- All the things you are doing will pay off. I know you are impatient now, but you have your eyes on the Ironman prize, and I know you will get there! :wizard:

Stacie -- I'm not an expert shoe fitter -- but if your foot went numb I think that's a very bad sign...I hope you are able to settle into a pair that fit you like a glove.

Beth -- I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. We were raking leaves this weekend, too. They just keep falling...Let yourself ease back into your training schedule. Your body has been through alot! :grouphug:

Tracey -- Congratulations on your son's fantastic finish! I know you are bursting with pride! :woohoo:

Shout outs to Cindy, Wendy, Connie, AmyK, Jeanne, Howard, Debra -- yes, we miss you!, Vicky, and lurkers!

Maria :upsidedow

Here's WISHing all our women & men in the Armed Forces, and those who have served our country, happy Veteran's Day.

We thank you for your honor and dedication.

Thank you all for the welcome. Not currently following any particular plan except I think I have picked up the flu....so that might help:sick:

Will be back to post when I can sit upright for more then 10 mins;)

Hi y'all.

We are watching "Kung Fu Panda". Love that movie.

Kimmer sorry you are feeling puny, we can blame Robert, he likes to sneeze on the keyboard and spread cyber flu.

I just saw the previews of the movie Madagascar 2 and now I have tha frog flippin song, "I like to move it, move it", stuck in my head.

Hi Maria, I read the thread everyday but don't post alot since most of what I had to say would have been on my blog anyway.

Winter is here. It dropped to 85 degrees in the shade. We took our chances, and ventured outdoors. :lmao:

Jeff -- I would say you are not allowed to torture the other Meaners, but actually it is so nice to see a warm sunny place, just keep 'em coming!

Your girls are too cute. Just wait until the boys notice... :)

I just did my 3.5 mi for today. It feels good to be all worked out and ready to go sit at a conference all day, knowing I've already "moved it".

Maria
