What a weekend! In addition to the DIS being down, my computer mouse stopped working this weekend. Amazing how much more difficult it is to type lots of responses without the mouse. And I always think those things should cost about $5 to replace.

Anyway, now I have a new mouse to play with and I'm not sharing it with my cats. Too bad the DIS is slower than ever.
Beth: Thanks for the compliments about DOOD and me. I do think he's cute and I like to think we complement one another. Maybe we'll even grow to look alike. But the minute we buy matching sweaters, I'm outta here.
I'm so glad to know I wasn't the only person who wasn't athletically gifted at a young age. I can't claim to have a lot of traumatic memories--I was mostly resigned to the fact--but there was one time....I was chosen by some girls to be on their relay team. Then I got yelled at because "with your long legs you should have been able to run faster." Yep. Fond memories. No wonder I was a drama queen.
I think we all have junk in the food receipts, especially when we have other people to shop for. Today I picked up Nestle pre-made cookie dough. It was on sale and DOOD loves them. Guess what I'm baking tonight. So I'm just happy when I have days where I can see we're eating mostly healthy.
Big, big congrats on the weight loss!

I can't believe you ate a blizzard and lost weight. Not that you haven't worked it all off with all the working out you do. I mean, that makes sense. Just that's not the way it would work for me. Or DOOD, for that matter. We still haven't had any ice cream in the house since the half, since it's his trigger food. (Apparently, it's okay to have brownies and cookies and candies, oh my! in the house. They're my trigger foods. Harumph.)
And I have to say that I was all disgruntled with the weather this weekend. I want spring to come. Or at least a steady temperature. I find 40 degree weather much colder after a 60 degree day. And it makes me less motivated to work out both indoors and outdoors. So your keeping to your streak demonstrates your own super strong willpower.
Chris: What half marathon did you sign up for? And did it help bring you out of your funk? I hope so!
Julie: I'm particularly proud of you for passing up the Lucky Charms. I don't know if I could have passed by my favorites on sale. (In fact, I tend to avoid the aisle of some of my favorites for that very reason.) I'm sorry you're having a tough time with it, but don't avoid us, please. It makes things worse--I know, from personal experience--plus it makes me think I've said or done something to offend you. I'll try showering right after my WO, I promise!
Aloha Jeff: What kind of chores do they assign you in paradise? Keeping us riffraff off the island? Are you assigned to the Dharma initiative?
Tracey: Yes, something about the caffeine inhibiting absorption of the vitamins. I can't remember exactly why or how, or perhaps Reno doesn't say. It's one of the things that annoys me about the books; it makes all these claims with "studies show" etc., but doesn't offer any works cited. (I'm such an academic!

)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to DS #2!

(How old, again?) I hope you all have a great day, and have to say that I'm impressed with your schedule. I wonder if driving, running, reading count as some sort of mom's sprint tri?
As for me: Guess what I did this weekend? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Other than working out, of course. I napped a lot and pretended to read, which just led to more naps. I'm so, so boring. But I feel much better today.
Oh, I guess I did do something. Although I ate leftover lasagna, I did make DOOD the pork tenderloin with plum salsa recipe that was in the most recent issue of
Runner's World. He loved it. Of course, I think he tells me that whenever I attempt to cook meat, just to keep me cooking. On the other hand, I did have some of the plum salsa (it's more like a plum/red onion salad) and it was pretty darned good. I guess the flavors really work with pork. The salsa is really easy & quick to make, too.
Say, does anyone here have good suggestions/recipes for increasing the amount of wheat germ or flaxseed in one's diet? Or walnuts? I'm trying to up the amounts of these things in our diet. The flaxseed and walnuts are supposed to be particularly good for joint pain.
