Last weekend I went to Busch Gardens (Tampa). I am a heavy lady and currently working very hard to loose this weight.
Haveing that said I am not heavy enouph that getting on ANY ride has ever been a problem.
So last weekend my son and I took a rollercoaster day. While try to reach around to fasten the seat belt on the Gwazi, the boy in the glass box that over see's the ride called out on the speaker "blubber alert", he said this 3 times. I thought I was crazy and just hearding things. When I looked around for the person to help I saw another employee (a young girl) folding her arms and shaking her head as if to say she was NOT going to help me. The boy in the "box" again said "blubber alert" 3 times. Now I knew I was not crazy.

I had to scream to the girl to come over and help me NOW, she finally did but OMG she was giving me the most nasty look the whole time. Let me make this part CLEAR the seat belt fit me FINE, I just could not reach the small part on the left to hook it to the right..... hope that made sence.

So long story short these 2 "people" ruined my and my sons day with there ignorance.

I just wonder to anyone with a weight issue, has anything like this ever happend to you ??

No, but I'd have ripped them both, PLUS PARK MANAGEMENT, a new one. That's completely uncalled for and juvenile. :grouphug:

I would have reported both these employees to their supervisor and then to the company. There is no reason for that kind of disrespect. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

Wow, that person should have had the rollercoaster rerouted on a new path right through his colon for that. Talk about OBNOXIOUS. I'd call park management!

:sad2: Nothing like that has ever happened to me. but I would have felt the same as you if anything like that happened. I can only imagine how that must have made you feel. I am so sorry for punk kids like that. It would have ruined my day too. I mean its one thing for people to think it, but to announce it in such an awful way to the public is totally humiliating and uncalled for. I would have complained to the park management. I am sure they can have a code for that without being so demeaning!!!! :furious: :furious: :furious:

:grouphug: to you....

No, I haven't had that happen to me, nor have I seen anything like that happen to anyone. How horrible!

I went to Cedar Point a few years ago and there was a tall, Pooh-sized gentleman trying to board the Mantis, a stand-up rollercoaster with some significant restraints. There was an employee trying to help him get safely locked in, but there was no use. He was just too big for the ride's design. It didn't look like anyone was out to embarrass him, they were just trying to fit him in. I'm sure it was humiliating for the poor guy that he didn't fit, but at CP they do have ride seats at the entrances of coasters that people can try before getting in line. :(

Extremely rude and uncalled for. I definately would report both of them. And if it was park policy to use that for the code, heads would roll. There is no reason for them to be like that. And I have seen thin people have issues with strapping themselves in. Most times its not a weight issue, its just a hand coordnation issue.

Well said!

:grouphug: sorry you were exposed to such nasty treatment.
would you consider sending the management a letter?
those two need sensitivity training & a Miss Manners' boot in the bottom!
Oh, yeah & most definitly the coaster re-route! :teeth:

I am so very sorry that you had something like that happen to you! I would have gotten off that ride right then and there and laid into the two of them, I would have demanded that a supervisor be brought right over! As they say, It would have been "on' !

That was so disrespectfull. We should never judge anyone or make rude remarks. Wish I could give you a real hug!

Amen...I second that!

I did go to managment at the end of the day and I must say the lady was HORRIFIED when I told her the story.
I was close to tears twice while telling her and she was so very nice to me.
As I told her, I have mirrors I know I am heavy ( 226 pounds ) but I am in no way dirty or gross.
The manager gave us 4 front of the line pass's for our next vist and she wrought up a full report.

I was shocked because I had just NEVER had such a thing happen.

I am so sorry that happened. Regardless of the reason you needed help w/ seatbelt there is NO excuse! I would call management again and request a letter stating exactly what the consequences were of the actions of those two idiots!! Heck, maybe I'd even write an op piece in the local paper of that town. What would they have done if it was a mentally handicapped person who couldn't get the seatbelt on? I can only imagine.

DUSTYSKY: I am so glad you reported that...hopefully those TWO will be getting their NOTICES at the CLOSE of work!!!

That being said: There are way too many good people out there looking for work. Busch Gardens will undoubtly find two MUCH NICER and MORE PROFESSIONAL employees sooner than later.

When you go back to use your "front of the line" passes...check out and see if those two hoodlums are still there mouthing off "blubber alert"!!

POST US!!! :thumbsup2

Thats not a bad idea I would really like to know what happend. I am sure they both denied doing anything so who knows but it would be worth looking into.

That was so, so rude. :furious: Noone, regardless of size or race, deserves to be treated like that. I've never (thank God) experienced anything like that before, and I'm kinda Pooh-sized myself. Did they think they were gonna get some kind of disease or something from helping you fasten your belt? :confused3 Their behavior was just unneccessary. :rolleyes2

I am pooh-sized, but for me, it's the width of my backside that gets me into trouble on park seats.

I don't fit into many of the coaster seats at Universal. So...LONG LIVE WDW!

You guys are all so nice. It took me a week to even have the guts to post about this happening. It was for sure hurtfull to say the least but you guys sure do help make a person feel good again :)

I'm so sory that happened to you ((hugs)) Regarding those two terrible employees, I have one word: KARMA....it will get them both sooner or later

How did you not beat them with your shoe? I would have gone through the glass, I swear! :furious: :rotfl:

More proof that WDW is the best place for my fat butt!
