Weight/Height Limitations

Last time DB was at Uni was before HP opened. But like a prior poster said, he couldn't ride most things with a test seat there. IOA especially was pretty much a waste for him (too bad since that's our fave Uni park). I have read reports of heavier individuals not fitting on the HP castle ride, but idk how big they were.

As a side note, I was ~27 weeks pregnant during our most recent trip to WDW, so I couldn't ride most things. I still had a great time. (We did skip Uni since we feel like those parks are more about thrill rides.)

Thank you so much, I know that he was mostly interested in the castle ride, hopefully he'll be okay! (crossing fingers)

I am 6' 2' 260 and have no problems. For Space Mt don't sit up front but in the back. Seems like my legs fit better. It's a little tricky getting in and out but I even can have room to put my backpack between my legs.

I never had any issues on any ride. Okay maybe goofy barnstormer (what ever it's called now) and 7dwarfs mine ride but I think that is it.

Over at uni I hard trouble on most rides but did squeeze on everything just was not comfy

My group has people in it taller than your hubby, OR similar to larger weight, but no one who was both. Both sizes complained of varying discomfort on 7 dwarfs, but could still ride it. Between us, we rode almost every single ride at WDW and everything was possible.

All ears.net has a great section called WDW At Large that describes all the ride seats and potential size issues. The great news is, the short version is "nearleverything will work out fine!" Here's the link http://www.allears.net/tp/ridsiz.htm

Like the other posters have said the only ride that has been tight is 7DMT. The restraint is a leg bar and comes down over the sides of your knees it was a little tight for my legs but we still rode it four times. Don't sit in the front car on Space Mountain there is less leg space. Oh and on Pirates don't sit in the front row. The new boats dip more in the front on the drop and you will get soaked from the splash or have a bunch of water come over the side and soak your shoes. He should have nothing to worry about.

thank you so much!!!!!

I was just at WDW with my dad, who is a similar weight but around 5'11. He was very uncomfortable on Splash (actually leg room situation, partly had to do with him having a bad knee on top of that) and he actually chose NOT to do 7DMT -- he couldn't really get into the seat very well and after a bit of a struggle just opted out.

Edited to add: He could NOT ride the Forbidden Journey (hogwarts castle ride) at Universal, but he did ride Gringotts with no problem at all. The last row of the Gringotts cars have more room, you can request to be seated there.

One we did not expect was Kali River Rapids. The harness was not big enough for my husband and he was not able to ride. This was new for us because a few years earlier, the harnesses were a little different and he was able to close it

Isn't it a seat belt? That sounds like there was something wrong with it; did you report it?

Key with seat belt rides is to pull it ALL the way out while you're still standing, then sit and clip it. Somehow that makes a big difference.

My brother is 6'6" and >400 lbs (you'd honestly never know by looking at him - he looks smaller than most people over 100# less than him)

That height helps out quite a bit. :)

We are going to Universal for one day, he is mostly interested in Harry Potter World. Did you have any troubles on going in the castle ride there?

It's truly going to depend on how he carries his weight. DH is shorter and heavier and he cannot go on Forbidden Journey at this point. If he were stretched out and lighter, he might be able to. Except that he has a very broad back and a deep back, if that makes sense, and that combo pushes him out from the back of the seat in a way heavier people who carry their weight differently aren't. Which means the shoulder restraint can't go back and down enough, which means he can't ride.

Universal is a LOT tougher for people of size and height than Disney is. I *think* he'll be OK, but I don't know how he carries his weight. Best bet is to try the test seats. And the seats for Forbidden Journey are wrong for many people, depending on how they carry weight, so even if it says "no" at the test, have him try further in the line, and even have him try on the ride. Like I said, I *think* he'll be OK with it, though. Especially with his height, he's not *that* big.

My husband is both bigger and taller than the 6'2" and 260 lbs previously referenced. He has had no problem fitting in the seats of any rides at WDW (except the front row of the boats in It's a Small World, where there's not enough room for his legs, but he's fine in any other row) but he says that Space Mountain is a bit uncomfortable to get in and out of.

At Universal, he was not able to ride the Castle ride, but that was more a height issue than a weight issue.

I'm 6-3, 350, and I didn't fit on anything at Universal. Gringotts was close, but the bar wouldn't come down and they made me get off. That sucked. I tried the Original Harry Potter ride a few years ago when I was 20 pounds lighter, and didn't fit then, either. Didn't fit on the Simpsons, didn't fit on Forbidden Journey and at that point I stopped trying.

At WDW, 7D is tight but doable. SM and BTM all are okay -- nothing is comfortable, but at MK everything is doable. I've never tried RnR or ToT, but everything else has worked okay. Not the case at Universal.

Several rides at Universal have modified seats available so you can either search for that info before your trip or ask an employee for the modified seats before you get in line.

I am about the same size as your husband...10lbs more 1 inch shorter. He will be fine. Like others said, 7DMT is my only uncomfortable ride, but it is short so I can deal.
