We have never done the DDP before and I just booked it yesterday. I have been reading posts and doing some research to figure out what ADRs I will want to make.
Now I think DH and I are going to gain weight...hope we do a lot of walking..LOL

I generally lose weight in WDW. I eat alot, but all that walking burns up those extra calories.

Don't underestimate how much you'll be walking. You might be shedding more calories than you think! ;)

I'm right there with you. I generally gain wait. When at WDW, I typically eat things I normally wouldn't, including desserts. Yup, weight gain. I need to remember to save the looser clothing for later in the trip. LOL

I would say if you do a park a day then you don't have anything to worry about! LOL Soooo much walking..........:cool1:

I always gain weight on our trips, despite all of the walking/standing/sweating/etc. Our last trip was only from July 2 - 5 and I gained 3 pounds I believe. I had told myself I wasn't going to gain any weight...

I too worried about this. I have lost extra weight for my trip because i just know i will come back 10 pounds heavier, i do like to eat and cant be good all the time. Some people say you will do alot of walking to burn it off but i worry what if its just too darn hot & humid to do all of this walking.

I was promised by a dining CM that weight gain only occurs with the Deluxe Plan! ;);)

I gained 3 pounds from our 7 day trip in March. And we did a lot of walking. It was just DS and I that went so we didn't go back to the room for rests except for 2 of the 7 days. I'm not a terribly big eater but I ate a lot that week. Most of the food was so good. So I need to do what the PP said and lose a few pounds before we go next time.

I eat a lot in WDW, but walking around in the heat I always at least break even in the weight department. I don't drink soda or sugary things either, just lots of water, so I'm sure that helps me too. You should be fine.:goodvibes

We always gain weight at the world! The walking is good, but not enough to stave off dining plan calories! Enjoy it and be prepared for the consequences when you get home. I discovered that I was ready to eat light for a couple of weeks after 9 days on dining plan!

A few years ago I would have agreed with many of the PP's that walking will keep you from gaining weight. But since I hit 40 that isn't the case! :confused3 Last year we had a nice long trip to the world and I gained several pounds (and we weren't even on DDP!). This year I plan to eat more sensibly.

The main thing is, do what you feel is right for you and your body. If you want to let loose and deal with it later, I'm sure that will work out in the end. You know best how your body will respond (and recover!).

Have fun!

Last year I lost 4 pounds during our 10 days at WDW. We ate big breakfasts (mostly character meals), snacked for lunch (ice cream or popcorn), then at an early dinner. If we got hungry we snacked again usually from one of the bakeries.

I agree depending on what you are eating. If you are just plain pigging out there is no way any amount of walking is going to do any good. If you are eating sensibly and watching what you are eating, not eating big portions you do have a chance of not gaining weight.

I do the DLXDDP and always gain between 7 to 10 pounds. I walk a lot, but I eat a lot too. It is very noticable too, I wear a size 6 and take size 8's for mid week on.

I gained maybe 2 pounds on the trip, but more when I returned home because I couldn't get out of that eating what I want mode. I vow this time will be different. When vacation is over -- it's over!!!

How long does it take for you to lose it once you return home?

I usually gain 3 or 4 pounds despite all the walking. I've found if I eat sensible right when I come home, they come off pretty fast. Watch the sodium - that will retain water.

First of all-calories don't count at WDW. (It's good to have a dream :))

Second- most people gain weight at WDW due to the amount of soduim in the food. I don't usually put any extra salt on my food, but I retain water there due to the heat and salt.
