Week of November 27th??

Congrats on all the birthdays and anniversaries everyone is celebrating! :cheer2: Anyone else going to try MVMCP on Friday the 2nd? I know it's a Friday, but we are celebrating something that day so it would be nice to try it out. Also, will everyone have MYW with Park Hopping? If so, maybe everyone could catch Illuminations together one night? :grouphug:

I was thinking the same thing - together for Illuminations would be cool! We have the MYW hopper but will be leaving on 12/1 for the cruise. If we miss the meet, all have fun for us too!
:flower:

I am new to the boards and got wonderful Ideas from all of you. We will also be there November 24th-30th. We are staying at ASM. This is our first trip with kids (9&5)

I was actually thinking Tuesday or Wednesday would be the best day because people have different arrival days and that splits the difference from the weekend before to the weekend after. My vote is for Tuesday unless EMH throw all plans out the window!

Whoooo - let's hope we don't hit the 30 degree mark this year! We'll probaby only be bringing sweatjackets - is this not a good idea? I went once before in early Nov and it was perfect (in fact, one day was quite hot :sunny: ).

I would plan to take more than that. People I know that have been there that time of year say that even if it's warm enough to swim during the day it can get very cold in the evenings and the humidity can make it feel colder. We plan to just wear our winter coats and gloves and hats to the airport so we'll have them if we need them. If we don't need them in FL we probably will when we get off the plane at home anyway.

True - we will probably have to wear them to the airport here as well - we are in NY and late Nov ain't exactly warm most of the time! :teeth:

...in WDW during our week?? Do they have any special Christmas stuff they put out at this time, or is it pretty much the usual selection?? I have been to the holiday shop at DTD...is it just more of the same?? Never been during the holidays, so I wasn't sure if I should budget in a lot of $$ for gifts, or just get small souvenirs and save the Christmas shopping for my return home?? :confused3

I'm hoping to get some Christmas shopping done while we're there. I've told my kids they aren't getting much in the way of souvenirs from me other than letting them each pick out a Christmas ornament but since I'll get my Christmas Club check before we go I'm hoping to be able to sneak in a couple of purchases while we're out and about and have them delivered to the resort. Hopefully I'll be able to grab them while the kids are in the arcade or asleep or something and sneak them into the suitcase without being seen.

We'll be there a little later in the week...We are going from 11/30-12/7 (disregard the siggy, we added an extra day!) and are staying in the Poly!!!!

Great to see there will be so many of us there at the same time (although it's making me wonder if it is as slow a week as all the guidebooks make it out to be!!!) ;)

I WIll, I WILL!!! :cheer2: You can find me at Epcot WS buying for the holidays this year. I love the fact that you can get many things that you can't purchase anywhere in the US there. I think I'll be able to find some nice gifts.

When I was there 2 years ago they did have some great Christmas stuff. From what I remember MK and Epcot both had stores solely for holiday merchandise.

See you on line in the shops!! Anyone know where the nearest UPS store is to WDW? I think I'll need to ship some stuff home ahead of me.

Has anyone ever done a meet before at WDW? I am not sure where would be a good spot during Illuminations...any ideas?

We will probably do the MVMCP on 12/2 since we are leaving 12/4, if there is on Sat night it will probably be too much for my two kiddos and husband too!

The last time I went for the MVMCP, I guess it was 2 years ago at the same time, we went and it was the first night of the party and the fireworks did not work!!! I was so disappointed for the kids, I can't remember if there was one later that evening (too late) or they were offering the next night but we were leaving then. I'm hoping if this is the first night this year we won't experience the same problem!

Here is our plan so far if I don't change it.
Sunday-Fly in and go to Downtown Disney
Monday-Magic Kingdom then back to Epcot for the Treelighting Ceremony and Illuminations (unless we do a meet!!!!)
Tuesday-Animal Kingdom and Mickey's Christmas Party
Wednesday-My Perfectly Princess Tea Party and Downtown Disney
Thursday-Epcot including Candlelight Processional
Friday-MGM
Saturday-Magic Kingdom and hang at the Boardwalk.

I pretty much have our ps plans done too. Is anyone else staying at the Boardwalk??

Hey,
O.K. this topic is making me a little nervous now. I was kind of under the impression that up to Wed. on T-week was not so crowded. Then Wed through Sat. it was very heavy crowd wise. Sunday after and the following week I have always heard that it was very EMPTY at WDW. :confused3
We are going 11/19 - 12/5. I planed on the first 4 nights to stay at WDW (ASM)and do "disney" stuff. The next 4 "busy" days/nights at WDW we are staying at the Nick Family Suites and doing Universal,IOA. The last 8 nights we are back in WDW at the POLY and doing "disney" stuff again.
Now I am a little bit nervous of the crowds.........dangit.......And I thought I had it all figured out this time! Please reassure me that it wont be TOO crowded before and after T-week.
Thanks............Syndrome

I don't think that 15 or so of us on the Disboards going that week means it will be swamped! :teeth: After all, we are a bunch of obsessed psychos :earseek: who plan our lives around our Disney vacations instead of our vacations around our lives! :rotfl: I don't know about the others on this thread, but I booked that week precisely because it's the start of value season; I seriously doubt the average person will be able and/or willing to take another week off AFTER Thanksgiving week or even realize how much of a wonderful time and money savings it represents. Some are lucky enough to have that opportunity, but I'll bet most are not. Plus those with kids would have to pull them out of school...which does happen, but not typically too often just FOLLOWING a holiday, and probably not en masse. So that should cut down the crowds right there. From what I've read/heard, the parks are SO much less full this time of year as to be only 1/4 what they are during Christmas week. Don't know if this is true :confused3 , but it's almost certainly going to be one of the very slowest times of the year. I think us Dis'ers are just nutty enough to take advantage of that no matter what havoc it wreaks in our personal lives!! :rotfl2: What I'm trying to say in my super long-winded way is, I fully expect to see other Dis'ers there but not as many of the "regular" clueless folks who don't know what a great deal this week is.

Tinkerbellemama, I think you are exactly right! Your post made me smile and shake my head.

As for crowds, nothing compares with a holiday time at WDW. Having experienced a final walk through at MK on the day after Thanksgiving, there is no way the crowds could compare! I can't imagine what Christmas or Easter week is like.

I wouldn't worry about crazy crowds, just be prepared that you won't be alone :rotfl: in any of the parks! And besides, there is always something going on at Disney, like the following week when it is Pop Warner time.

I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo looking forward to my stay. What a way to kick off the Christmas season!

I'll be staying at the Pop Century, however I'm seriously thinking of changing the 2nd week to somewhere else at a similiar value price if the pop warner folks come en masse. Everythings set and am saving some disney for disney.

PS The economy will have a lot to do with crowd levels. I was able to get really cheap airline ticket from delta earlier in the year. The buyers remorse in me has checked a couple of times since then and the prices have gone up quite a bit each time.

PSS Hey since we're all going about this time lets stay update on any changes and surprises. For example when, if, and what time any Expedition Everest soft starts happen.

Hi...for some reason I was thinking we would miss Pop Warner...I'd better recheck dates! :earseek:
I am still looking for cheap airfare...I never like to pay much more than $100 round-trip from PVD (Rhode Island) to MCO. We don't get as many good discounts as Boston, but Logan is at least an hour away by train (including stops, etc.) and we are 3 miles down the road from T.F. Green, so the extra savings are not worth it. :sad2:
<perk> Expedition Everest soft????? It had never occurred to me that this might happen as early as our trip...when is the official opening date? For some reason I thought it was WAY into the spring...but I could be wrong!! That would be AWESOME!!
