Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

What would be your favorite mode of transportation to get to the parks and major areas, if you had a car with you and were staying on the monorail? Can't decide how we will want to get around each day. Obviously we'll probably just walk to MK from CR most of the time. And we'll probably monorail to Ohana. What about getting to AK for example? Or HS? If you had a car would you drive it or is parking such a hassle that it's still better to take the bus? Does time of day affect the choices do you think? I'm trying to imagine our days and how it will go. Like when we go to HS just for Holiday Dine...bus or car?

We have both driven and taken transportation. I'd rather take Disney transportation. Much easier to get dropped off and picked up than to ride a tram and have to search for my car! Just my preference :)

We are staying at all star sports because that's what was left. I really wanted to try Pop but were too late in deciding our dates.

Hope I am not crashing in on the party. I just got excited to see a group going when we were.
Not at all, the more the merrier :) I'm glad you're jumping in!

We will be doing Ohana for the first time. We have a 5:25 and an 8:00. I'm guessing we should stick with the 5:25 so we don't end up with a long wait?

I would say the earlier would be better for wait, especially with kids. But you can always try to check in early too?

Thanks! Wish we were staying until the 3rd!

Here is our plan so far:

Saturday: arrive and hit MK with dinner at Crystal Palace

Sunday: MK with BOG at 9:20 only because I haven't been here yet and want to see the inside. Chef Mickey for dinner at 7.

Monday: HS with lunch at Sci-fi also a new one for me

Tuesday: Epcot. Girls only have lunch at Akershus. The men can beer around the world!

Wednesday: Morning at AK and Hopefully EMH at MK. We have a reservation for Coral Reef lunch but I only got it for 12 and we have 13. Not sure what will happen here. I would like to get Ohana but not sure that will happen.

Thurs back home :guilty:

Here's our plan:
11/26 - arrive early afternoon, ME to CSR, then to dinner at Boma. Depending on ROL, may try to get FP to see it after dinner.
11/27 - MK, with late lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern
11/28 - HS - will need to rope drop to sign up for Jedi Training Academy. Lunch at Sci-Fi.
11/29 - Disney Springs in morning with T-Rex lunch. MVMCP later - grabbed a BOG dinner during party - TBD whether we feel like it's a good use of party time!
11/30 - AK - late lunch at Yak and Yeti - planning on late start due to MVMCP the previous night.
12/1 - Epcot - late breakfast at Garden Grill
12/2 - MK - late breakfast at Ohana
12/3 - departure day... back to the cold and snow!

I made mostly breakfast/lunch ADRs so we can be flexible in the evenings. I'd like to catch ROL if it's up and running, and the Star Wars fireworks... but since we don't have a schedule for those yet, we'll play it by ear a bit - and we can park hop as needed.

Just got the mail, and in it was referral cards for the Disney Visa! I've had the card for years and never received these before. So, if DH signs up for the card, he can get a $200 gift card and I can get 50 reward dollars! :cool1:

Oh I hope I get this deal too!! Is the $200 reward for the fee free one still? I haven't used it since last year when I put my vacation on it for the reward points then paid it off the next day LOL. But that is an easy $250 gift for you!!

We have eaten at Pinnochio's, Pecos Bill, and Sleepy Hollow. We enjoyed the flatbreads/pizza at Pinnochio's. Pecos Bill has moved to a "Chipotle" style menu, although they did just eliminate the burrito bowl that we liked there. Sleepy Hollow has great waffles and waffle sandwiches. We would go back to any of those; they're our go-tos aside from BOG.

I think we will try Pinnochios this time and try for a seat where we can wave at small world guest. Small world is a highlight in our fam. Last year we did Cosmic Rays and Caseys hotdog place. Both were good, not spectacular but we were plenty happy. It is CS.

Here is our plan so far. I get so exciting reading what all everyone is doing. It's amazing all the options!

25- Check in to POP for RO. Swim eat in food court OOP.
26- Check in for FD. Hopefully we won't have to move rooms. HS- 4:45 Minnie's Holiday Dine Fantasmic Package
27- MK- 8:20 BOG PPO 7:00 Whispering Canyon
28- EP for the day. 5:00 Trex (OOP). DS and or swimming.
29- MK- 8:20 BOG PPO 5:00 CP Park hop to EP for Illuminations / EMH
30- HS- 12:00 Disney Junior H&V. Park hop to MK for Wishes / EMH
1- 10:35 Ohana. Then AK
2- MK. 11:00 BOG. 4:45 CRT
3- Back to reality :(

The 29 and 30 will be long days but otherwise I think we will be ok. Last year we truly went hard core all day from sun up till sun down so I am thinking this is a notch down... I hope.

DH wanted to do the Christmas Party, so to make him happy, I got tickets for Nov. 29. Now he has the bright idea to wear Santa hats, get our pictures done if front of the castle and use the Photopass photo as our Christmas card this year. I'm trying to talk him out of this, oh yeah, theme park hair, Disney tshirts and Santa hats, great family photo for a Christmas card! We normally do a more posed sort of Christmas family portrait to send out with Christmas cards. People we think we've gone senile, I think.
We actually used the picture we took with Goofy Claus at H&V for our Christmas card last year. DD and myself had on Christmas raglan shirts but I could only convince DH to wear a red t-shirt. It actually turned out to be a cute card. I personalized it with "Have yourself a Goofy Christmas".

It is for the no fee card. We started using it regularly in September when we weren't sure what would be happening with the Costco card. It'll be nice to pay for some small part of our trip with the rewards! Makes it easier to splurge a little :)

I love this! May have to steal the idea this year!

of all the QS places in MK, I like Cosmic Ray the most...not so much for the food, it's just quick service food, but the chicken portions are large enough to split between two people. I really like some of the songs that Sunny Eclipse sings...corny, yes, and they haven't changed his routine in many years, but you can usually find a spot to sit in the AC and relax for a few minutes...

Speaking of Christmas photos, I may want to do Disney Christmas shirts this year. If any of you see any popping up in stores close to trip time, please let us know!

I did look for Disney Christmas Shirts but ended up getting the raglan shirts at a local boutique. It was great because they were Christmas enough for Disney and we wore them throughout December for Christmas activities. DD had a Christmas tree and green sleeves and mine was old school santa face and red sleeves. Super adorable! I literally picked them up the day before we left for our trip. DD is super petite and still fits into all her clothes from last year. Thinking we will wear same shirts again this year but for the Christmas party.

Check out Old Navy and JC Penney for Disney Christmas shirts. They have cute ones that also go on sale... The boutique I got mine from also ships if you're interested. I'll post again if they do the shirts again this year. :)

I'm still torn on if I want to do CM this year or H&V Minnie's Holiday Dine. We didn't get CM last year but absolutely loved H&V. So many decisions!!

Love the look of the raglan shirts. Not sure the boys would though! We are definitely looking forward to Minnie's again. We've been lucky with the food. My mom is coming with us this year, so everything will be new to her, since she hasn't been for 20 years! Plus, it's definitely festive, so you can't go wrong with that in late November! :)

also check out Etsy.com - there are numerous people selling Disney design stuff, not sure if it's copyright infringement, but they have been doing it for a long time.

Thanks! DH thinks I'm nuts, but coordinating shirts look great in photos :)

Decided to make the boys a reservation at the Pirates League. I was surprised they had quite a few times available to choose from. Looks like they don't have the Jake package anymore, which is the one we chose last year. It will be fun to see what they choose this year!
