Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

We have found that having 1 day at AK, 1 day at DHS, 2days at MK, and 2 days at Epcot is plenty for us-along with one rest day where we lounge around and recharge our batteries! And, I must say, the DHS/AK days are not long days at all. Certainly never as long as the other two parks.

I'd love to stay at Disney for two weeks, but I've found that we're just DONE after 7-8 days. We miss home and our cats too much. :p

We are very relaxed in our touring, though, and just don't get to see and do a lot. But, it works for us. :) We always say-we'll just do it next time. :D

Oh yes, the cats! We will miss ours as well. :)

Last time we went for 10 nights but we did so much moving around that it kind of messed up our days. We were also there with a big group for part of the trip so our time wasn't always our own, kwim? Anyway, we're very much looking forward to spending more time at AK and Epcot because those were the two parks we saw the least last time. We spent far too much time at MK (walked through the gates on 4 separate days!). We were at HS three times, but only one of those days was almost a full day spent there. Epcot only got one full day and a few partial days (we were staying at Beach Club for part of the trip so we went to Epcot for an hour or so on a couple days other than our full day there, but it's really hard to do much in that short amount of time!). Anyway, I just want to feel like we've had plenty of time to see more of those parks we neglected last time. We're currently planning 2 days at MK (both party days, we'll go to the party on the first day and leave around 5 on the second visit), 2 days at Epcot, 1 full day each at AK and HS, and then our last day will probably be split between AK and HS. Hope it works out! At least we won't be moving from resort to resort this time. That should help with the fatigue and stress. :)

You're right! It's very helpful to hear from people who are content with far fewer days. Our 4 kids will range from 8-almost 17 when we go, so there are a lot more varied interests in our group. I do think most of us will be content with just one day at HS (though we are a major Star Wars family, and ToT is probably the favorite ride of 2-3 of us and Star Tours ranks right up there as well and the FIREWORKS! I can't forget those! Oh, who am I kidding?! I'm hopeless).

I feel your pain. Last year we went for 5 park days. This year we are going for 6 park days but I still want MORE! Also hubby says I can't kill him like I did last year. I have to plans more breaks which is hard bc I like to go go go. U guys will have to help ground me.

Yay! I have company! :D

This is out exact schedule except we hop to mk or Epcot after a morning at HS.

This sounds so familiar! Hubby said I put him on a death march through magic kingdom. I refuse to acknowledge that happened lol.

I think my biggest hangup is what to do on Saturday, December 3. Touringplans has Epcot, DHS, and AK all tied at crowd level 4. I see that and imagine they'll all end up being 8's or more by the time the day is done (sure seems like that's the way the crowds have been these last couple years anyway). I feel like Saturday would be a great day to just head to Disney Springs for awhile or go do a 1900 Park Fare breakfast or something. Maybe it'd be a great swimming day, too. However, with our plans the way they are now, I feel like we really need to hit a park that day, but which one do I pick? I only know I want to avoid MK because that seems to always get slammed on Saturdays. The rest are all a toss-up. Maybe Josh's calendar will provide some clarity when it comes out next month. Ugh...

Chances are good they'll be filming the Christmas Day broadcast parade on Dec 3. They traditionally film the first weekend of Dec, but last year they moved it to Nov for some reason. No dates published yet for this year that I could find.

I thought they did the Christmas parade taping Tuesday-Friday. Guess we'll find out when we get closer.

What kind of weather are you all planning for? I've seen average highs seem to be mid-70's. I don't recall what the average low is though. I assume we should bring jackets, hats, gloves just in case (probably don't need coats though). We probably also need shorts and t-shirts. Hmm... good thing SW allows 2 checked bags each! Oh wait, we don't have 12 suitcases! :rotfl:

Ha

My husband for real popped his hip out of place on the 7DMT the last day of our trip. Instead of the stroller I pushed him around in a wheelchair that day. Haha. No injury is going to stop our fun! But hoping we don't have a repeat this year.

Curious about this filming stuff. We were there during the Christmas Show taping in front of the castle last year. I hope we miss all that jazz this year.

How was the rest of the park that day? Jam-packed or manageable?

:scared1: I'm almost afraid to ask, but how on earth did he do that?!

We did 1 Day at each park, and 2 days at MK. We plan to do the same this trip, but I honestly never priced out the difference in adding a 6th day to our tickets...and we could, since I was planning Sunday to be a hang out/Disney Springs day. Hmmmmm. I just planned to avoid any park on the weekend days, but I may need to reconsider.

Oh my god that sounds painful!

Last time we did 6 park days (2 EP, 2 MK, 1 each AK and HS) with a mid-week resort/pool/Downtown Disney day. It was so nice to have that break. This time we have 6 park days but we're there for less time and I feel like I can't cut a park day out to take that mid-week break - I hope we don't regret it, but there's so much I want to do! I'm worried "only" 6 park days won't be enough.

Oh my gosh!! I hope he recovered and you don't have to deal with that again.

Via Napoli...is it as good as everyone makes it out to be? We did Biergarten last year at Epcot and looking for something different this year, assuming I can get it haha. What's everyone's favorite Epcot TS?

Dh was just home for lunch and we were discussing this. I suggested we take a vote about adding a day and dh said we could do an "Extra day 'preference poll' but the 'super-delegates' (meaning the parents) get the final call." :rotfl::rotfl:

I'm planning 70s during day and cold maybe even mid 40s at night. This was our experience in January and February. We don't bring real coats except for the baby. I got away with a tank, long sleeve shirt and thick fleece at night. Of course, I think it's a little warmer in November. I've never needed hats or gloves. My kid refuses to wear mittens or a hat. I did bring him a thick blanket when he was ten months and wrapped it around him in the stroller when he slept one night.

I'm from MI, so 50's still flip flop and shorts weather :P

I figure we will pack a hoodie/fleece jacket for all and a pair of long pants to change into if it gets too chilly. I'm hoping mid 70's weather is true because that would be perfect for us! the man/boys in my family are sweaty beasts and last october was high 80's...they were such whiners.

We loved via Napoli!! It was a last minute change to our February trip. The pizza was really good and they do specials on splits of wine. The restaurant was loud which was perfect for us because my toddler took a little bit to settle. We had an amazing waitress too at that meal who told us a lot about the food from the region she was from. Our absolute favorite in world showcase is Rose and Crown. We have really good memories there of my sons first trip where he danced in his high chair to the piano player all the way through dinner. The food has always been great as well.
