Week After Turkey Day Shenanigans

Our flights dropped $2, then climbed white a bit.

We had a lap infant last time (22 months! Woo!) so adding that extra flight sucks this year.

Looks like May 19th is when SW opens for dates after Nov 4th. I say on their website and refreshed until the schedule showed up and booked right away.

We flew Southwest as well last year. Got an awesome deal. Didn't book til July. Hoping this year will not be awful considering we need to fly out the Saturday after Thanksgiving (fingers crossed). Def hoping Southwest will pull through again for us. The no baggage fees is an awesome perk.

Huge perk! But they are decreasing their nonstop flights from the airports near me, and I keep reading about rate hikes coming. We had a great experience so I am hoping to use them again.

Also, flying thanksgiving weekend maybe wasn't my best plan o_O

Looks like Google flights is showing SW flight schedules, but not prices. There is exactly 1 nonstop out of the airport we prefer, and 1 flight with a plane change. That nonstop is probably going to be expensive, especially on a holiday weekend. Blah.

I was originally planning a Sun-Sat trip like last year, but then saw flight prices for Sunday after thanksgiving and about died!

Come on SW!

500 posts apparently makes you a Dis Veteran...woo!!

Yes, this is why we are arriving on Monday. I'm still concerned about flight prices for that day, but they should be significantly better than Sunday.

Thanks for the update. I had June 2 written down too. Whew! We are flying in Sat hoping that is better than Sunday or Monday of thanksgiving weekend. Also considering getting a room only ressie for Friday night if those flights are cheaper. Last year we extended our stay a day earlier and a day later and saved over $600 on our flights. This year isn't as flexible so I'm a bit nervous!

Oh my goodness... someone talk me down! We're currently planning to be at wdw for 8 nights (11/28-12/6) w/ 7-day ph tickets. We're planning to do a MVMCP but beyond that we'll just wait and see what other extras are available before we can decide any more things to do (like EMM, DAH, etc...). I find myself longing to add just.one.more.day! But where does it end? If I add one more day, we would be able to do each park twice, but really I'm wishing we could be there long enough that I would feel we could take a day off and do something else. How do you decide enough is enough? How do you stop yourself from adding one more day (which could lead to yet one more day after that, and then one more day, etc... until you're there for 2 weeks and taking out a second mortgage!)?

Haha!!! I think seven days is ALOT. We don't spend more than a few hours at HS. I don't know what I would do with two whole days there! Of course, I have a two year old. Five days n the parks is plenty for us :)

You're right! It's very helpful to hear from people who are content with far fewer days. Our 4 kids will range from 8-almost 17 when we go, so there are a lot more varied interests in our group. I do think most of us will be content with just one day at HS (though we are a major Star Wars family, and ToT is probably the favorite ride of 2-3 of us and Star Tours ranks right up there as well and the FIREWORKS! I can't forget those! Oh, who am I kidding?! I'm hopeless).

I think my biggest hangup is what to do on Saturday, December 3. Touringplans has Epcot, DHS, and AK all tied at crowd level 4. I see that and imagine they'll all end up being 8's or more by the time the day is done (sure seems like that's the way the crowds have been these last couple years anyway). I feel like Saturday would be a great day to just head to Disney Springs for awhile or go do a 1900 Park Fare breakfast or something. Maybe it'd be a great swimming day, too. However, with our plans the way they are now, I feel like we really need to hit a park that day, but which one do I pick? I only know I want to avoid MK because that seems to always get slammed on Saturdays. The rest are all a toss-up. Maybe Josh's calendar will provide some clarity when it comes out next month. Ugh...

We always do Epcot on Saturdays. Even when it is super busy, the park is spread out more and tolerable. World showcase will get a little congested sometimes but it is easy to duck in somewhere to get some relief from it.

We have found that having 1 day at AK, 1 day at DHS, 2days at MK, and 2 days at Epcot is plenty for us-along with one rest day where we lounge around and recharge our batteries! And, I must say, the DHS/AK days are not long days at all. Certainly never as long as the other two parks.

I'd love to stay at Disney for two weeks, but I've found that we're just DONE after 7-8 days. We miss home and our cats too much. :p

We are very relaxed in our touring, though, and just don't get to see and do a lot. But, it works for us. :) We always say-we'll just do it next time. :D
