wedding

have you got any other ideas for songs? Im just wondering because we dont really have the whole father daughter / son mother and all those dances in the UK...! wierd eh!

I wish they didnt here either....

Um,
You are the sunshine of my life

Its hard because, most of them are about people loving eachother always lol

Let me think

Oh Jen another dilema lol

Like Stacey said we dont do that here just a first dance for the couple I had never even heard of mother son dance until i read it on these boards.

I would like to have a father daughter dance as dad is paying for it :D

Why does Vin really not want a mother son dance and would she take offence if you and your dad did and they didnt

We decided we are going to do it together. We will dance to "What a wonderful world" with my dad and his mom.... Quick and easy fix!!:banana:

WARNING! WARNING!
MOMZILLA on the loose...

So, as much as I wanted to come on here last night I couldnt. See, in the middle of me trying to figure out wedding things my mother began her "maze" of a conversation...

You know...

Those onees where she wants you to be a mind reader and understand what she is trying to say by not saying it?

And hers started off... "Jenny... do you really think my dress is okay for your wedding?"

Followed by a hour screaming match of "YOU ARE CRAZY" by, yours truely.

See, Last week I made the horrid mistake of telling my mother that vinnies family wears long dressy dresses to everything. Now although my mothers dress is nice, it is also not what I would have chosen for her, as the mother of the bride...

However, if that is what SHE wanted to wear, I WAS NOT going to tell her otherwise! I just wanted her comfortable and happy...

So, after the first 20 minutes she got to her "Secret" wording and said "But would you have picked this dress for me?"

And, sadly, I fell into the trap saying "No, i wouldn't have, I would have chosen something more fancy since you are the MOB"

That was it. The arguing began. Because, see, I didn't know if :

A) she actually wants to wear the dress she chose but thought I didnt want her to
B) she actually feels uncomfortable in her dress and wants a n ew one but wanted me to say she should get a new one
or
C) she likes her dress, wants to wear it but thinks i want her to wear something diffferent and then when she heard vins mom is wearing something dressy decided she wanted to be dressy too...

::Phew::

So the Verdict:

Saturday (The most beautiful day of the season where I Planned on begining to work on my tan) will be spent inside a mall working on finding my mother...
A second dress....

:sad2:

Does it ever stop?

Hey there girl! Dave is excited too, (I mean what sensible boy wouldn't be excited to go to WDW lol) he thinks it will be a nice long weekend where we can relax and enjoy the nice November weather! I am super excited too!

Now onto the dress, who knows maybe she will find something she likes even better on Sat! And quickly so you can still sun a bit lol! Start early and hit the big stores 1st... actually the Macy's and Lord and Taylor by me have some great MOB dresses right now, very nice and elegent for a summer wedding. Good luck with it all, keep us posted!

Oh and I checked out the kids earth day party! Very cute, and creative as well! Great idea! I did my part for earth day yesterday and bought my tickets to see Disney's "Earth" on friday night with Dave (they plant a tree in yoru honor if you buy a ticket to opening week). Plus that commercial with the little duck is just too flippin cute!

Good plan, you will find something I am sure! They make MOB look very matronly which my mom isn't a fan of eithier... but an elegent younger looking dress would work for your mom I bet:thumbsup2

Just trick him into going lol! I bought the tickets online so Dave has to go lol!:lmao:

Let the Mood Begin!

I figured I would add this to my pj since I already added it to my ptr :)

April 29 is vins birthday. I had posted awhile back the disney cake I made last year... Yum-o chocolate covered strawberries!

Well, this year, it won't exactly be SO technical...

We went to the brown derby last year and vin got the grapefruit cake. So I of course had to ask for the recipe...

And...this years Mission...

GRAPEFRUIT HIDDEN MICKEY:confused3

The recipe is harder than i thought though...

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups sifted cake flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs (separated)
3 tablespoons grapefruit juice
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 350º F. Sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt into mixing bowl. Make a well in center of dry ingredients.

2. Add water, oil, egg yolks, grapefruit juice, and lemon rind. Beat until smooth.

3. Beat egg whites and cream of tartar separately, until whites are stiff but not dry.

4. Gradually fold egg whites into the cake batter, folding gently with a rubber spatula until just blended. Do not stir the mixture.

5. Pour into an ungreased 10-inch cake pan. Bake at 350º degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, or until cake springs back when lightly touched with a finger. Invert pan on cake rack until cool. Run spatula around edge of cake. Carefully remove from pan. With a serrated knife, gently cut layer in half.

Grapefruit Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients:

2 six-ounce packages of cream cheese
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon grated lemon rind
3/4 cup powdered sugar (sifted)
6 to 8 drops yellow food coloring
1 one-pound can grapefruit sections (well-drained), reserving 2 tablespoons of juice OR 3 fresh grapefruits, peeled, sectioned, and drained, reserving 2 tablespoons of juice.

Method:

1. Let cream cheese soften at room temperature. Beat cheese until fluffy.

2. Add lemon juice and rind.

3. Gradually blend in sugar. Beat until well blended. Add food coloring.

4. Add reserved grapefruit and blend into frosting.

5. Divide the frosting evenly into two bowls. Roughly chop 2/3 of the grapefruit sections and add them to half the frosting. Spread this mixture on the bottom half of cake. Top with several grapefruit sections. Cover with second layer of cake. Frost top and sides. Garnish with remaining grapefruit sections.

So, step one of getting into the disney mood begins on his birthday....

of course, his presents will add to that (The gepettos workshop snowglobe and pinnochio mug) and on our anniversary of getting engaged(may3) I plan on making some kind of crazy disney logo on a snapple bottle ( :scared1: ) Am I crazy?

Tuesday will be the big cooking day... I promise... to post pics... whether it be good or not lol:rotfl:

Oh Jen

I got behind again (the story of my life) I think it's harder to post when you have a crazy 2 year old running around.

ANYWAY, I love your wedding favors. They are adorable. You did a wonderful job as always.

Oh, and if I was back in school, I would totally want to be in your class!
