Wedding Weight Loss - Disney Style

Yay I am here. As I said on the locked down thread I lost 8 pounds and I am on my 6th week in weight watchers. My DF and I play with the Wii Fit. Doing the Hula Hoops on there really gets you sweating so that seems to be working. Plus, luckily, my DF cooks low fat meals for us during the week then, on saturday after we get weighed in, we have our cheat day!

Our Cheat Day is the night after our weigh in too! LOL :rotfl:

:offtopic: Ok your hula hoop reference made me think of a video on YouTube!

I'm not sure if I can post a link to it...as it could be considered "suggestive."

Just search for "Why every guy should buy their girlfriend Wii Fit."

I think it was a joke ad thing...so it's not actually real.

Hey girls :) Glad we found a new home...still can't believe the thread got locked.

I'm in the beginning of my weight loss. I actually used to work at Jenny Craig (I was the lady that you met with on your first day that explained everything). I went from 170 to 150 on Jenny while I was there. Then left and lost access to the foods. Slowly over the last 5 months (and one week long cruise later) I've gone back to 162 (as of this morning). I want to be at 150 by my Bachelorette cruis Sept 18th, and 140 by our wedding in December. I have a lot of time, so I don't want to do it in a drastic way, rather a sensible slow way.

I'm doing the WW points on my own (no meetings too close by, and my BMI is healthy, so they won't really help me out too much). I'm loving it so far, and love the whole point system.

No exercise yet..we have a new elliptical DF got me specifically to get in shape for the wedding. I've used it 3 times in 2 months lol! I'm going to start this week with 3 - 15min sessions! (hold me to that!!!) and one weight training session (20-30 min) focusing on my arms/chest/back (since my dress is strapless!).

My weigh in days are going to be Mondays (since I'm starting on a Monday!) so you can harrass me :thumbsup2

I can't wait to see everyone's progress!!!!

(btw..I have no prob telling everyone my actual weight versus 'how much weight i want to/have lost'. But I totally understand everyone has their personal preference...so please don't feel obligated to tell me your actual numbers on the scale! :) )

That is a good Idea about the threadmill. My sister has one. I hate walking...Yet love WDW. :lmao: Water Arobics has been great because you don't feel like you are working hard. LOL
Have you noticed much difference with water aerobics? I thought about doing it. My trim and tone class is very intense. It's hard to cut out carbs when most meals have carbs as the filler with them. I have increased my water intake though:thumbsup2

Hey Girls! I'm glad you got this thread going over here. I was sad when I got on this morning and saw the thread was locked. Pretty soon we'll have one thread in each forum of the dis for DISBrides!

Lisa -- Thank you so much for telling me where to find you!

As I said on the other thread, I am a long-time Weight Watcher. Here is a picture of me in July 2004, before I gained another 20 pounds or so, right before my 4th heart surgery in January 2005:

After my heart condition was cured, I started on a journey to lose weight and get fit. Most importantly, I started and have kept up a journal here on the WISH forum of the DISBoards. My WISH journal is here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=720698

I have been right around 70 pounds lost for a while, though I continue to lose inches as I tone, even if I am not dropping pounds. I work out 5-7x/week, running, doing the recumbent bike & elliptical. Last week, I started working on upper body strength training with a personal trainer. Here is a picture of me from about 7 weeks ago. My clothes have gotten looser on me since then, so hopefully the pix from our PS will show a smaller Cam ;)

I still follow WW and I go to meetings on Thursday mornings. My goal is to fit into the gown that I ordered 2 sizes smaller by the time it arrives in October. LOL!

I'll join in too! I lost 45 pounds on ww since last year. I joined right after we got engaged. Last weekend I made it to lifetime status. I'm still hoping to lse another 10 pounds before our wedding but I seem to have lost my motivation. Hopefully maybe this thread will get me jumpstarted again!

I have noticed a big differance. I lost less weight the two weeks the pool was closed. My friend goes with me and she only weighs like 170 pounds and has lost about 10 pounds since we started going! It is intense, we even sweat in the water!

Cam you look great!!!!!!!!!

I'm not in Weight Watchers or Jenny Craig or anything like that, but I have been trying to lose weight and tone up before our wedding (in 11 days! :hyper: ) I have cut out most junk food like potato chips, although I still need my first love, chocolate, sometimes.

I have a DVD that I do every night, called Buff Brides. I have been doing the arm workout religiously, and I have definitely noticed a difference! It only takes like 10 minutes, so I really don't have any excuse to skip it (anything much longer than that and I'll find a way to weasel out of it. :rotfl2: ) The exercises are nice because while working your arms, they also work your abs. I've even got DF doing it with me!

I've lost about 9 pounds since last November, and I want to lose 5 more. I initially lost weight by doing the Couch to 5K running program: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml

This worked really well for, so far I've done three 5Ks. I also do power yoga once a week. I want to step things up by running faster and for longer periods, and also by taking up another form of exercise to change things up...but I really don't like gyms, and I don't have a bike. I do have a weights at home, I just need to use them more... (I want to strengthen and tone my arms up). So maybe I'll get a bike or join a gym or pool, not sure yet. I have a pretty busy work schedule, so it's hard to fit things in, but lately I've really liked running in the morning before work - it's too hot here (and stormy) in the evenings to run!

As far as diet, I already eat pretty healthy - I'm vegetarian and eat a lot of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and drink a lot of water. But I am trying to cut down on carbs and increase the protein. And also cut down on alcohol!:drinking1

Good luck to everyone! My WI is Fridays.

Buff Brides....Where did you get it???

I got mine at Borders. Here is a link to it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Buff-Brides-Count-Down-Workout/dp/B000JU8HKG/ref=pd_sim_b_1

I also recommend Cardio Pilates...you will definitely feel it when you are finished! The great thing about this DVD is the pilates come first, followed by the cardio, so if you are short on time you can just do one or the other. It really, really works your abs, without doing crunches. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Cardio-Pilate...ef=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1214263277&sr=1-1

I noticed your location and that you like to run in the mornings. Be careful outside running..I've been following the jogger murder (nicole) and its so sad. I live about 1.5 hours away from Orlando, and all the girls here are scared to go out to the tracks. One of my BM's won't even go to the recycling station right now. Just be careful!!!:thumbsup2

OMG, what? It's only Orlando? Nothing down here in Miami, right?

Yeah, I heard about her! Really sad and scary. I live and run in a pretty well-populated area (there are a lot of people out and about at 6am!) but I know that you never know...I am going to get pepper spray. I have friends who live near UCF and used to always run on that trail, but now have had to stop. It stinks.

That's incredible!! :thumbsup2 The weight loss and the working out! What did you start out doing?? What did you find was best to get you into a consistent workout schedule??

:yay: Yay you!! It will be awhile til I make lifetime...that is such an achievement!

I MUST get this!!! Is the entire workout only 10 minutes?? I get so overwhelmed by super long workouts...but even I could handle 10 minutes!!

There are three separate workouts on the DVD. One is a cardio segment, one is back/arms, and one is abs/legs. The back/arms is the one I do everyday and it takes 10 minutes. :thumbsup2 If I have extra time, I'll add the others in too, but how can you really say no to just 10 minutes?? That's why it works for me! I do push-ups after the arm workout but that only takes like one or two minutes, tops.

Thanks! I started in early 2005 just walking on a treadmill and late that summer started following John Bingham's Marathoning for Mortals "Walk a Half Marathon" plan to walk the WDW 1/2 Marathon in January 2006, exactly one year and one day to the day of my 4th heart surgery. After the half, I trained to do several more races that year and walked and finished the WDW Full Marathon in 2007, and again in 2008. This year, starting in April I started following the Couch to 5k plan and trained with my friend Patty (pjstevens). Now, I do short runs 3 mornings a week 1-3 miles and a longer run on Saturdays. The other mornings I either bike or use the elliptical. I get up at 5:30 every weekday morning to go to the Y. On Saturdays, I get up at 6:00 or 6:15 to go. On Sundays, I tend to go late afternoon, and just typically ride the bike for up to an hour while I browse the latest bridal magazines. :goodvibes

Cam you look great!!!!!!!!!

Thank you, sweetie! It is really hard to stay motivated when I look at the scale, but I realize it is more important to be fit than to be thin. Now, I really have to kick in the weight loss efforts so that the gown will fit.

I have to check out that Buff Brides workout DVD and the plan on the WW board, too! Thanks for all the advice everyone! It is great to hear what is working for everyone. I am much older than almost everyone here, so it is MUCH harder to lose. :(

As for Buff Brides -- the woman who does that vid and wrote that book has developed Buff Brides for WW! (You can get her step by step moves on the WW website - for members)! She does a 12 week bootcamp workout and it tells you what to do every day ... it's pretty awesome but it looks really intense and I'm scared! :worried:

WTG gals -- we're all well on our ways!!! :woohoo: So many determined disbrides!!
