Friday 12th August
Chef Mickey!
We all got up at 7 and had brekkie in the Villa: - cereal, bagels, juice and fruit. Today was planned as a non-park day because I new that the novelty of having a villa with our own pool was going to bug Gianni all day long if he didnt spend some time in it TODAY!
At 8 we had a visit from a really grumpy woman from the villa management company to take our deposit and to read us a list of rules. She was supposed to show us how to use things like the air con, washer and cooker but just said there are instructions for everything. Misery guts.
We spent a couple of hours in the pool then showered and headed out for the day.
Our first stop was the Wal Mart Supercentre on the US27. Gianni was after a Robots game for his DS (there wasnt one) and some Pokemon cards. This shop is HUGE I prefer Publix I didnt know which way to turn!
By the time we left it was mid-day so we headed to a Subway on the 192 very good as ususal. We werent very hungry but as we were dining with Chef Mickey at 5pm I didnt want the kids deciding they needed food a couple of hours before our reservation. Being creatures of habit my family had what they always have at Subway be it in Florida or in Leicester! Enz had a meatball sub, Gab a tuna sub and Gianni a roast chicken sub. I pushed the boat out and went for something different and had a chicken and spinach salad. The subs, 2 bags of Doritos and 3 drinks came to $21.03 the nice man let me off the 3 cents
We were going to go to the Florida Mall but as it was now nearly 1 pm and we had a date at 5 with Chef Mickey we stopped at the Orlando Premium Outlets.
The kids both needed new trainers. Over the last couple of months my reply to the kids cries of I need .. trainers ..bag ...jeans etc etc has been where are we going soon? Well get it there. Gianni has been moaning that his feet hurt it wasnt until I looked at his trainers today that I realised why BAD MOTHER ALERT the sole of his trainers were as flat as a pancake and very hard! Not my fault he shouldnt run around in them then theyd still be cushiony and airy!
After traipsing through all the sports shops they finally found some trainers that they liked at the Adidas shop. Gabs even treated herself to some of the boxing type of trainers on my credit card again of course! We left the shop $96 poorer but the kids were happy and I was looking forward to getting my $30 back off my daughter so the $96 didnt seem so bad after all (I can always find a way of justifying a money spend).
It started to rain, rain and rain whilst were shopping. Loads of thunder and lightening but fear not, I had my brolly so I kept dry
Did I mention that we had a 5pm reservation at Chef Mickeys? Well it was time to make our way to the Contemporary Resort and were arrived there at 4.15 so could have a nosey around. As soon as we walked into the humongous lobby we were greeted by a really chatty CM who gave the kids stickers and told us where to go to eat with The Chef. Oooo I love Disney!
There was a bit of doubt in my mind about the meal as Id read reports that dinner wasnt that good here. So I did keep saying to Enz to remember that we were here for the Characters rather than the food. Maybe were easy to please we really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere here. The food was really well cooked, the Character interaction was excellent and we had a great server.
We all joined in with napkin twirling as you do.
We didnt feel at all rushed to leave and left feeling nicely podged and $100 lighter.
We hopped ok waddled onto the Monorail and went to have a look at the Polynesian Resort which was gorgeous. From here we caught the boat to the Magic Kingdom then walked back to the Contemporary to collect the car.
We were all pooped by this time so headed back to the villa via the Sherberth Road. Its because of this short-cut which I casually mentioned as if Id used it thousands of times - that my beloved one is now accepting of the amount of time I spend perusing Disney sites and reading the Brit's Guide
Bed by 10 ready to actually hit a park tomorrow!
