Websites selling dining reservations!!

I would say this only adds to the problem of not being able to find times. I doubt there is only one places selling reservations and therefore that's however many reservations that are no longer available to you. However, I could see Disney adopting something like this...prime time reservation fee or some other junk.

I really can't believe this. My sis is trying to change up some things for her first time trip in Dec. and I'm running out of ideas for her maybe this is the problem everything is so booked.

For reference - this very BASIC Disney Website Scrapping Hack is the responsibility of Susan O'Day, current CIO. Any competent 14 year old, that gets the Web, could have put a stop to it.

is it wrong YES... how much does Disney care, I don't know their restaurants are full... eventually they will do something,,,, when they figure out how to put that money in their own pockets.... and I love Disney.... just seems like it's more about profits everyday.....

I'm going against the grain, so please don't shoot me for having a different opinion.

I actually don't mind it. It's a fairly time and labor intensive process for whoever is operating this site. I don't think they make *that* much money for the amount of work it likely takes.

If I had a reservation that I really wanted, I would have been grateful for this site. Luckily, I have everything I want right now.

I guess I see it as a part of capitalism, and admire the labor it must take to secure reservations EVERY DAY at certain restaurants, or to notify people if a reservation can be had. Very proactive.

There was a free DVC availability website that popped up and Disney shut him down. A guy that was making DVC reservations for DVC renters as an associate and Disney changed the associate rules to shut his business down. They went after a husband and wife who did parities dressed in a mouse looking costume that looked more like a rat than Mickey and they sued them and won in court.

You don't mess with the mouse.

I must apologize for my earlier post, think I was a little cynical, and snarky... thought back to our last trip in Jan.. after having ADR for BOG, when our 60 days came for fast passes there was no way to make that ADR, my wife tried 3 to 4 times every day to make a new one... finally two weeks before trip she got one.... For this years Oct trip couldn't get BOG at 180 days... was again trying 3 to 4 times a day,,, finally got on Dining Buddy( not quite sure if thats what its called) but a week and a half later got one.... so guess it was a good thing she didnt have to check every day

Eh, it doesn't bother me and I'd pay money to have someone else make my reservation and guarantee I get them. I'd pay Disney if they'd take money for it. It is convenient and Disney is a place that I go to where I want to do certain things and I'll pay a premium to guarantee my family gets to do them. That's why I'd gladly pay for more fp.

It's super super annoying it's like the people hiring people with disabilities to skip lines. The problem is they are making fake name reservations then selling them so I take it they keep an inventory to sell and that is the sucky part If I paid someone to make them for who plays be all the same rules so be it but if I use a computer to book up times away from everyone else to hold and sell later that needs to be stopped.

I dont agree with it either..Look at it another way.. What if there was a broker service similar to the rentals that people booked reservations legally then in turn sold those reservations to someone else who wanted them. Would you be ok with that?

I don't think it is like that, but more like stub hub buying up tickets and then reselling them for a higher price.

I'm just mad I didn't think of the idea first, and if you admitted it, some of you thought exactly the same thing. :D

Places like Dining Buddy operate like this: "Our service doesn't book reservations, but watches for availability and alerts customers when something opens up. It's up to the customer to then book the reservation. " I don't see any issue with that. The end customer has to book it so the company is acting like a travel agent.

But, if a business is booking reservations under fakes names and selling, I wonder how they were getting around the credit card hold requirement. Wouldn't they have to use their own card? Would think it would be risky if they "sold" a reservation of 4 for $15 and that person didn't show up. They would be out $40 - $15?

its not at all like that.......have you ever tried to get a BOG at 6 months plus 10.....on the phone or online? a human can't move fast enough in order book more then 1 or maybe 2 in a given day. also you can't over lap in the same disney account so they have to log in and log out over various accounts.....also they would need a active reservation in order to get the early booking....needless to say its a computer program just like the ones the scalpers use to hit ticketmaster.......disney needs to put the word box up or something else to make sure its a human at least booking it.....

Disney has issues with automated scripts or applications accessing their data and we should also. The system can only support x amount of searches at one time and automated searches may be keeping others from making their ADR's.

A press release from Disney:
Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler spoke with the Orlando Sentinel and said, “We are currently reviewing the situation involving third party website dining services. Disney has no affiliation with these third-party services which can interfere with the guest experience we strive to create.”
