Websites selling dining reservations!!

I had no ides this was such and problem and wonder if this is why we were having so many problems making reservations for our June vacation of this year. I just signed on to the DVC Member's website and sent a e-mail about this. I know it probably will not help but at least it made me feel better...smjj

We all know that Disney's IT systems are not that great and having companies looking for reservations when guests are doing the same thing cannot be good. I don't know if this is affecting the system, but has surprised me that for the last two trips and the upcoming post Thanksgiving trip, I was not able to get a BOG reservation at the 180 day mark or later. I keep hoping that the closer we get to our reservation something will open during the 11 days we are there in December. But I have little hope as some reservations are still impossible to get for whatever reason.

I have to say this is the FIRST trip in a long list of trips where I havent been able to get what I wanted at 180 +10 .... Some places I could get but both BOG and 'Ohana were fully booked, and we are going mid September. Cannot even imagine trying to plan for Xmas or Spring break

Hopefully something will be done about this

In the near future I wouldn't be surprised to hear you will have to have a resort reservation to link your dining reservation. Sorry for those not staying on site. I don't see any other way they are going to do this.

I think it's horrible. They block out reservations that then stop the average guest from reserving. I hope Disney puts a fast stop to this.

Maybe it was set up by IT employees who had been fired and had to train their replacements from India.

I never thought of that :). Yes, that WOULD be insidious :).

I WAS impressed with the efficiency of the scraper that I looked at... but I was also very concerned. The engine clearly had to be wacking WDW fairly hard - and required no account to LAUCH that check. Put 2 and 2 together, and one realizes quickly that the scraper I looked at COULD, itself, be the victim of a third party engine.... and hence, be hijacked to perform a DOS attack. Disney should be VERY worried about it - and not just from the standpoint of lost revenue :(.

I could see them doing it like FP+. You would have to have ticket media for each guest attached to the reservation. They could even make that restriction apply to in-park restaurants only. If they did something like that, I would like to see the ADR window reduced to 60 or 90 days. For us AP holders, it would be no big deal. This would at least allow off-site people to make reservations inside the parks.

Maybe it is off base but I think DVC members and AP pass holders who have proven their loyalty by spending many thousands of dollars on their resort purchases ought to be given a priority of some type. Say 185 days out instead of 180. Or offsite can only book say 30 or 60 days out to ensure those willing to spend a of time at Disney and are a proven fans by becoming DVC Members or AP holders will be assured of getting a ADR. We are true fans and each time we go we spend and spend and I am sure this makes Disney very happy..smjj

The part I don't quite understand is how they are "transferring the reservation to the guest's name" and linking to MDE? Is that not a dead giveaway if they are following the trail to determine which reservations are legitimate and which are being sold?

I would definitely be supportive of this. This upcoming trip has just been frustrating from a planning standpoint due to Fastpass + now on top at ADR's and I wasn't able to get either of my top from dining and fastpass and I'm not giving my hard earned money to anybody whether is $2 or $200 to anyone that Is manipulating the system just to get what I want.

Bump - Too important and I would like more time for people to respond. There are at least two active threads on Facebook on this...smjj

Keep trying occasionally.

I read this thread and it reminded me I hadn't booked anything.

Got on and couldn't get anything I wanted Sat or Sun.

Just picked up a 5:15pm at Ohana which was requested by my family.

Did BOG a couple of times and I'm kinda over it.

Yes its very hard to do Fastpass+ and dining. I usually try to book my meals from the parks I'm doing that day. So you have no choice but to do park hopper or annual passes.

To alleviate "fake" MDE accounts, Disney could require ID when you check in for your reservation...just a thought!

Good news, I am on a couple of DVC boards on Facebook and there are a couple of articles posted and even a screen shot from one of the companies stating Disney is shutting these companies down...smjj
