Weather - What to Pack?

My DW is having trouble knowing what to pack. We fly next week and I have looked at the forecasts and it does seem extreme so her questions are:

Does she need a warm coat, or will a fleece do when waiting round at night for parades etc.
Is it warm enough in the day for shorts and swimming?

We will be leaving next week and their until the new year.

I can only speak from my visit in 1997. Most mornings we had frost and wearing a Tshirt, and 2 jumpers under my fleece was NOT enough. At times we were miserable as we were so cold and we spent a fortune buying extra warm things. On about 4-5 days out of 19 we had weather warm enough to wear shorts. We did swim but it was freezing in the pools, even though Disney claimed they were well heated. The jacuzzis were nice and warm though.

If you have warm, short jackets I would take them. Also take gloves and hats. But you might also need shorts etc. If you're flying scheduled you won't have a problem with weight, if you're on a charter you might struggle a bit. Wear the coats to travel and that will help. You might be lucky with the weather but I always feel it's best to be prepared.

I can't emphasise enough the need to go into the parks EARLY. On Christmas Day and New Years Day they closed the parks to everyone by about 9.30am, and once you're in you need to stay in or you might not be able to get back. Expect HUGE crowds and queues and make good use of Fastpass. Look around the resorts for the decorations and have a great time.

Forgot to add you might need your coats during the day, not just at night.

Many Thanks, we are early birds into the parks, I hate queues so I make them get up, have no breakfast and then we eat about 11 when it gets busier and we have been on all the major rides and secured fast passes for later.

The problem I think we will have, is carrying the bulk around during the day, ie shorts to jackets etc.
Do they still have lockers on site as I am sure we won't be able to leave on Christmas day etc to go change

Its just a flydrive and the kids are now generously classified as adults with Virgin so no problem with weight allowances.

We did the same trip last year from 17th Dec to 1st Jan. The weather was very cold when we arrived - needed hat, scaves, gloves and lots of layers at night as it was VERY cold standing around for the parades/fireworks etc. Day time was cold but sunny which took the edge off. As the holiday progressed it got warmer and warmer, by the time we left on 1st Jan it was 82 degrees! We had no rain at all.

Yes, there are still lockers in the parks, be sure to get one as soon as you go in as they seemed to get taken quickly.

We are stuck at home this year but have already booked for Christmas 2005 - yes it is busy but try to do the Disney parks during your first week - we found 17th to 23rd to be very quiet, no queues for many of the big rides at all. The second week was busy but we still managed to do lots of rides by getting in really early and then spending the afternoons shopping or by the pool (when it hotted up!).

Enjoy yourselves, the Christmas decorations are wonderful.
