What will the weather be like on our cruise in January 2003? Should I be shopping at the summer sales for shorts and bathing suits? We went through the Panama Canal in January several years ago and it was 80 degrees and humid. Is that about "normal?"

Our last cruise was in Feb and once we left Port Canaveral we were in shorts and typical summer wear. It was breezy at port but not cold. (Hey, we're from Michigan so 50 would feel warm to us that time of year)

Also friends who go to Cozumel often in the winter report that summerwear is the way to go! The main reason it is such a popular spot that time of year probably!

Thanks! I think I saw on the Disney website that it averages 72 degree high at WDW in January. It will be a little warmer on the cruise I guess.

You'll have to pack for two seasons since there seems to be at least one cold snap in Florida every winter where the temperature drops to the 30's/40's. You wouldn't want to be there with only summer clothes when the temperatures drop that low. But you'll definitely want summer clothes for Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

is extremely unpredictable so you may want to pack a few cold-weather clothes with your shorts and swim suits. Hubby and I cruised in 1/01 and we had GREAT weather on the ship, warm temps, warm breezes, no rain, it was perfect. I don't think we wore a sweatshirt the entire time. In fact, shopping in St. Martin I was too warm even in shorts and t-shirt. We spent 4 nights at WDW before our cruise and we were told it was the coldest winter in Florida in 50 years. During the day we were in shorts and t-shirts (we're from Michigan so we were just thankful there was no snow on the ground!) but at night we changed to jeans and sweatshirts. I remember on e-ticket night at the Magic Kingdom I kind of wished I would have had gloves as my hands did get cold, and we could see our breath, but we still had a great time!! :D

we have done the western ports in January, and always thought that the weather was warm. Never a problem with swimming either. We are from Iowa, so this is like a eighty degree difference for us, so that may be part of the reason we don't think it too cold for any activities on a cruise at all.
