We are planning to arrive this Thursday for a four-day trip and the weather forecast according to weather.com is not looking promising- thunderstorms all day and night until Sunday. Accuweather is giving a much more positive looking forecast with the possibility of some rain. What to believe?

Having lived in FL for over 20 years (almost 20 years ago!) I know it rains this time of year. But, it would be super helpful if someone could tell me if there is a more reliable online weather service out there. What do the locals use (besides watching the local TV station's weather report)?

I apologize if this is the wrong forum! Thanks for the help.

It's a "tropical system" so it will be more than your average daily rain. It also depends on where Invest 90L goes at this point as it could never get there.

I posted in a different thread what our local weather man reported this morning.
We have the same system moving here.
Right now, it's too early.
They honestly do not know, which is why you see different reports.
However, thunderstorms are not likely period. Rain yes, but not storms. This is rain maker not a storm maker.
That said, what our guy said this morning, and why he won't commit to a forecast yet is, 50 miles one direction or another will make a huge difference in the amount of rain.
And they simply can not predict within a 50 mile range any accurate path of the system yet.
It hasn't even formed yet. It has to make it past a wind shear at the mouth of the gulf. Once it does that and hits the warmer waters in the upper areas of the gulf they'll have a much better idea of what it will be doing, where it will be heading and how much rain may or may not be in the forecast. It may be a little or may be a lot.

I think we'll know more Thursday... that'll be the telltale day I believe. Stay tuned.

WESH is calling for 80% - 90% chance of thunderstorms for this weekend from Saturday to Tuesday. Anything tropical in nature will have lightning and thunder with it usually as well as the possibility for some strong winds. Let's all hope it goes elsewhere or doesn't even form at all!!

Just reporting what the weather man reported he thought was happening, just rain and the amount is what's in question based on path
I believe it depends on what forecast model they follow.
Last I heard the models don't agree on the future of the system once it hits the gulf but I didn't check today

Thanks, everyone for your replies. The weather forecast has me so freaking bummed :( :( :( We were at Disney last September when the hurricane hit and now this :( :( :(

Let's all will it away - think with me INVEST 90L go away go away - do not form do not form.
