Wearing of lime green

Last September I made a cute DIS nametag with my Home Depot paint chips! It had my real name AND screen name, plus ribbons. But not a single person approached me. Made me kinda sad. I kept looking out for fellow DISers, even approached a couple who had on matching lime green shirts, but they were with their family reunion! HA! :rotfl: Anyways, keep a look out for DH and I April 17-22!!!

I've seen lime green ribbons on 2 of my last 3 trips. I'm just too shy to say anything! I'm afraid that after I ask if they are DISers, there'll be nothing else to say! So I'll make sure to wear some lime green in May, and hope that whoever sees me won't be as socially awkward as I am and actually approach me.

where ya from? where ya staying? what's your s/n? how long are ya here? once the "akward ice is broken" i'm sure the ball will be rolling.....besides, i'm sure ya won't have long to talk...you'll be too busy putting your DIS info to work. I will say something if i see someone...if not for any other reason than to say "i met a DISer!" :cool1:

Yea, I'm usually pretty friendly to every1 in line and such, its fun meeting people from all over the place. I'll be sure to say hi to ne 1 with a green tag/ribbon, etc- even if they say they haven't heard of dis i'll just say oh ok. and say something else. It'd be fun tho to see ppl in person :)

Yes, that was me wearing the lime green shirt to the parks last week. Because of the way the weather was all week I layered my clothes with a t-shirt and lime green 3/4 sleeve shirt on top. HOWEVER - I was so busy I did not stop to ask any person in any shade of green if they were from the DISboards. It was just too busy at Disney, and at Universal I just didn't. I guess once I was there, I just wanted to do the rides and have fun with the family! But, I wore the lime green to be open if approached! :earboy2:

I've had lime green ribbon somewhere (either clothing, backpack or stroller) since the color was "adopted" in....1999? I even remember the "we should all wear ribbons so we can recognize each other -- what color? thread! I've noticed and said "hi" to a bunch of people wearing the green :), and I've had people come up to me, too.

Hi!
I first met Dan Murphy ( at Epcot, in 2000) because I had my ribbon on my back pack! Totally worth it! :bounce:

Lisa (I know, I know..the siggy!) :badpc:

I remember that thread too! There was a lot of discussion on exactly what color "lime" green is. I put on a lot of miles looking for just the right color ribbons. I've been spotted many times, and I've seen others too.

It worked for me this last February trip! I met a fellow DISer while in line for Peter Pan on our very first morning. I had a HD Mickey head tied with ribbon to the back of my yellow & black backpack.

I know there were lots of other DISers there during that time frame, but was disappointed not to notice anyone else. Guess I was too wrapped up in enjoying the trip with my boys.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Look out for me and my neon-lime green shorts I just bought especially for our trip April 17-23rd!!! I would normally not be caught dead in them, but am wearing them just for our trip!!! I have my HD mickey heads on my back-pack with ribbon as well! Please feel free to say hi! I really am jealous of those of you who have met fellow DISers! I want to me you all too! :grouphug: :wave2: :lovestruc

I will be there the same time as you - April 14-23 - and I will have a green name tag hanging on me somewhere attached to a lime green ribbon- hope to see you!!!

Ice breakers for DISers:
"Weren't you on the February Mug Thread?"
"Did I just see you pool hopping?"
"Have you seen any codes lately?"
or just start talking in acronyms:
"Here at the MK, have you ridden BTMRR yet?"
"We're staying at POFQ, are you at WL?"
"I saw where AKL has a zero entry pool."

IMHO your reply was great! It had me ROTFLOL :rotfl2:

I put lime green ribbons on the family's matching hats for our first trip (easy to spot each other that way, too) and ran into another DISer outside MGM on our last full day. Unfortunately, I was so tired I couldn't speak in full sentences, lol - my apologies!

Hehe, I went shopping for a swimsuit last week - and excitedly bought the one with a lime green stripe across the middle. Then I found a lime green suitcase - sold! I suspect I've crossed that line into obsession...

Looks like lots of people will be wearing lime green when we are there April 16-20th.. gonna try to get to HD to get my lime green mickey heads to laminate. Will be putting my kids names on them and attatching them to the bottom of my girls lanyards, on my diaper bag and maybe somewhere on our double stroller. I'm not a good conversationalist either but it's still fun to say you met someone from the DIS.

When I had just hurt my back right before a disney trip, I rented a ecv from Walker and tied some lime green ribbon around the basket. I can't remember his name, but when we were at the Boardwalk, one of the Illumination cruise captains noticed the ribbon and said he was DIS too.

And on another occation, one again can't remember the name, but we knew a fellow DIS was staying at our hotel on her first ever solo trip. She was wearing her badge with her user name when we saw her getting on a bus on night going back to the hotel. Got to chat for a few minutes.
