We Opened Magic Kingdom With MICKEY! The Princesses First Trip 10/17/09-10/24/09

We were up and it this morning at about 6:30. This morning we had 8:05 reservations at Hollywood and Vine. We made our way to the bus stop and waited for about 5 minutes. The funny thing is when we got on the bus it was 7:33, just like the previous morning. The ride from POP to Hollywood Studios is really short and before we knew it we were going through bag check. We made our way to the turnstyles to check in for breakfast. For some reason we were not on the list. I was glad that I brought our confirmation numbers, but I didn't need it because we were on the list inside. Here is a picture of the girls and I on an empty Hollywood Boulevard.

We checked in at the podium and we were called in about 5 minutes later. We were greeted by our server Sandy and she explained how everything worked. We went up to gather some breakfast. I was excited to have my first Mickey waffle and I made a breakfast burrito that was really good. Erin's favorite was probably the ham. Ava was happy to have a banana that she insisted that she had to open and it needed to remain whole. Does anybody else have a kid like that? Stu was just happy to have some coffee.

The first character that greeted us was JoJo. Erin knew who that was, but Ava really didn't. They really need to update the characters here. It would be nice if they brought Oso in.

disney09199.jpg

Next up was Leo from Little Einsteins. The girls both enjoy that show, but Ava was not so hot on Leo.

disney09204.jpg

After Leo, June made her way around.

disney09209.jpg

disney09210.jpg

Following June's visit they had a little song and dance session. They did the Hot Dog song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I was surprised to see Ava considering the idea of going up to Leo.

disney09211.jpg

The final character to stop by was Goliath. JoJo had signed for him earlier, so he just posed for pictures. Ava was not a fan of Goliath.

disney09215.jpg

There wasn't alot of people at this breakfast. Each character was around at least 3 times and we were done by 8:40. I really think they need to update the character selection. Since we were done early we made our way outside. There was a rope that kept us off of Hollywood Boulevard, but the CM that was there said we could go out to the main rope when the turnstyles opened! This was awsome because we ended up front and center for the rope drop.

After the little opening show they had we walked with the masses to Toy Story Mania. We basically got right on the ride after we made our way through the maze. This ride was so much fun and definitely worth the hype.

We got through so quickly that we were able to make it with plenty of time to the 9:40 Playhouse Disney Show. Ava was very excited to see this because her favorite show is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Here is Ava waiting for the show to start.

disney09216.jpg

Here are a couple of pictures from the show.

disney09226.jpg

After Playhouse Disney the girls and I went to Voyage of the Little Mermaid while Stu went on Rock n Roller Coaster. We met up with Stu after the show and went through the gift shop at the Animation Building to see what characters were there. Aren't they so cute?

disney09227.jpg

disney09229.jpg

We all did the Great Movie Ride next. About this time Ava was getting sleepy, so when we finished here she climbed into the stroller and fell asleep. Erin and I went on Tower of Terror after we got a rider swap pass. We basically walked right in and before you know it we were being loaded. Erin didn't really know what this ride involved, so she didn't know enough to be scared. She ended up loving it and quickly went back on with Stu. She is such a daredevil!

Ava slept through lunch at Backlot Express, where we had the veggie sandwich and chicken nuggets. This place was probably the busiest counter service place we encountered all week. Following lunch we made it to the 1:00 showing of High School Musical 3 show, where we had to wake up Ava because we had to park the stroller. Erin was disappointed to find out that it wasn't the "real" characters from the movie. After the show we decided to fit in the Muppet 3D movie before staking out a spot for the Block Party Bash.

To be continued...

Great DHS update!
Looks like the girls had a blast with all the playhouse festivities. :lovestruc
I loved seeing the Up characters on my trip. Just finished that part on my TR.
Have a good night!

I am sitting here crying reading about your MK day. We were there the same dates as you but we did MK on Monday and it was packed! We did HS on Sun. and that was pretty busy too. I can't wait till ds6 gets home from school tomorrow so I can read him your trip report!:)

GREAT update!! We did the Hollywood & Vine lunch on our last trip and I have to agree with you--they need to update the character selection. Ally knew all of the characters but Claire didn't. We never got to ride TSM but it is definitely on our list for next time!! And I know what you mean about the HSM show--Ally kept asking me, "Which one is Gabriella? Which one is Troy? etc. Can't wait to read more!!

Great update! I agree with you about the characters, my dd4 and ds18mo have no idea who Jojo and Goliath are and very limited of baby einsteins. On the bright side at least breakfast didn't take very long. We missed playhouse disney in Aug. but is a must for next sept. Can't wait to read more!:yay:

I'm here. So magical you got to open the park. I had tears in my eyes seeing all the characters come out. We're going back next week and now I def. think I need to get there at 7:30. I also have 2 princesses. Bummer you didn't like Chef Mickey's
Waiting for more
Subbing

What parks did you do on the other days? I wonder if we ever crossed paths. I hope your DS enjoys the report!

Wouldn't that have been amazing if all of a sudden Zac Efron popped up in the HSM show! Definitely try to do TSM next time. It was a family favorite.

Since you have little ones Playhouse Disney is a must. There was not one child that was unhappy at that show!

When I last left off we on our way to find a spot for the Block Party Bash. Ava loves Monsters Inc. so I had done some research to find a good place to sit to catch that part of the parade. We ended up sitting right outside of the Keystone Clothiers. I will let you judge by the upcoming pictures if this was a good choice. While we were waiting Erin and I did some browsing through the area shops and found the bathroom. Ava and I also did a little walk because she decided she wanted another banana. I think this kid is part monkey. Thankfully we were able to find one at a fruit stand. We also decided to partake in our first Mickey Bar. One word-delish.

While we were waiting we had a fun encounter. There were some street performers entertaining the crowd where we were. One of the women saw Ava's lanyard and wondered what the card attached said. It had Stu's name and cell number on it in case they got lost. She starts to read it and then tells Stu that if he was interested in her he didn't need to use his children to get to her. She played/flirted with him for awhile. When she left she turned to him and mimed "call me" at him. It was hilarious. Here is my competition.

disney09231.jpg

We ended up loving this parade. It was so high energy and it seemed like the performers were having alot of fun. The floats started coming our way. I noticed that the first three girls in this photo were also in the HSM 3 show. They must be pooped by the end of the day.

disney09233.jpg

The first group that came by was Toy Story.

disney09238.jpg

disney09239.jpg

Notice that beautiful blue sky again. When the parade came to its stopping point, this is who ended up in front of us.

disney09245.jpg

I would say the girls were satisfied.

disney09246.jpg

disney09248.jpg

Sully also came to greet the girls.

disney09260.jpg

Toward the end of the performance they invited all of the kids out to perform some dances. Ava chose not to, but Erin had to get in on the action and do the YMCA dance.

disney09263.jpg

disney09266.jpg

As the parade moved on we caught a glimpse of some of the Bug Life characters.

disney09273.jpg

Following the parade we went to the Beauty and the Beast show. The girls really enjoyed this and so did Stu and I. They did not move or make a peep through the entire show.

After the show Stu and Erin decided to go on Star Tours. They must have walked right in because they were back before I knew it. We decided to walk the Streets of America a little bit. We happened to go by Toy Story when we were done and the wait was 80 minutes. I really wish we had Fastpassed that ride after we rode it in the morning. I will be sure to remember that next time.

We went to Min and Bills because Stu had saw a menu showing that they had a pretzel dog that intrigued him. He got that along with a chocolate shake and four straws and we ended up having a really fun family moment. That part of the park was pretty quiet and it seemed we had it to ourselves. It was fun to have a moment to reflect on our day.

The girls and I ended up grabbing hot dogs at Fairfax Fare, which is right across from the Fantasmic entrance. We ate while we waited for the entrance to open, which happened at about 6. We were able to get awesome seats since we were there so early. Here is a pictures at 6:15.

disney09274.jpg

Here is a picture at about 7:15 and the show began at 7:30.

disney09277.jpg

We entertained ourselves while we waited with some glow sticks that we brought from home and eating our desserts from our dinner. Here is a couple of pictures of the kiddos waiting.

disney09280.jpg

disney09281.jpg

I liked Fantasmic alot more this time than I did last year. I think it was because the kids enjoyed it so much. I was shocked Ava wasn't scared at all because she usually hides behind a chair when something scares her in a movie.

disney09282.jpg

disney09283.jpg

disney09284.jpg

After the show we made our way with the masses to the bus stop. Our bus was packed, but there some generous people that allowed me to sit down with Ava and made space for Erin to lean on us. All in all it was another great day.

Up next: Early Extra Magic Hour at Epcot and lunch at Akershus

Great update! The parade looks like so much fun! It's on my list of things to do. Good job finding the right place for monster's inc. :thumbsup2 My girls love Toy Story so, do you know where they stop?
Fantasmic looks like a blast. I think you got there at a great time! How were the crowds at around 6:45/7 ish? The night I'm going to see they have a 6:00 show and an 8. We'll see the 8, I just don't know what time to get there!
So funny about the girl flirting with Stu!:rotfl:
But to tell you the truth you have no competition.
Have a good night.
Hope you all are doing well!

:goodvibesGreat update! TSM is so much fun, but what a long wait! The 1st day we went it was 95min,so we skip it. We learned are lesson and I had my DH run and get fastpasses while dd and I went on Tot. We love this park so much, perfect for pre schoolers and adults. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip!

Your girls are real troopers to make it through the whole day at the park!!! It sounds like you had a really good day!

Great trip report! I love seeing that you guys got to do so much with two little ones. :goodvibes I see a lot of TRs where they don't do that much. Can't wait to read more!

What a fun trip you had!

I LOVED your pictures from opening the park. That picture with all the characters is just pricesless - that should be your Christmas card this year! :thumbsup2

Looks like you're having a great time so far! Can't wait to read more about it!

WOW!! :) What a great day at DHS!!! :thumbsup2 I might need to go back and take another look at our DHS day plan! Those parade pics look so good! I think my girls would enjoy that parade as well! :goodvibes

Looks like you had a lovely day at DHS and your girls are so good too :goodvibes

ok caught up. It's so funny how your trip and our trip are mirroring each other. I don't remember seeing you at Chef Mickey's but do remember the Raggedy Ann in your picture. lol

Also we were ON the monorail when it went down. We managed to get off at the COntemporary and then they were dropping everyone else off at the TCC. I think the EPCOT monorail was having an issue.

The playhouse Disney breakfast looked so empty! We had an ADR there but ended up cancelling it. IF we would have gone I'm sure we would have run into you! The rest of your mourning was just like ours though. We did Toy Story, Playhouse Disney, Mermaid. lol I think you were just in front of us in the Playhouse Disney show.

Sounds like a great day at DHS loved the pics.
I read ds6-River your report on your MK day adn the first thing he said was "ooh can we get there first thing in the mourning?"
We were there the same dates we did DHS on Sun., MK on Mon. (packed), Epcot and Chip and Dales campfire on Tues., Epcot on Wed., Chef Mickeys, MK and the Halloween party on Thurs., and AK on Fri.
Can't wait to hear more:)

My girls love Toy Story so, do you know where they stop?

This was the info I found: if you want to see the Toy Story floats, you will need to be located in front of Mickeys of Hollywood (Hollywood Boulevard) or in front of Sounds Dangerous (Echo lake). Hopefully that helps and is accurate!

We didn't know what to expect, but this ended up being one of our favorite days.

Your girls are real troopers to make it through the whole day at the park!!! It sounds like you had a really good day!

Thankfully Ava just sleeps when she needs to. She would climb into the stroller and say "time for a snoozie."

It looks like you guys had a fantastic time at Hollywood Studios. Your pictures are awesome!

We really did have a great day.

Great trip report. What a wonderful vacation! :cheer2:

Thank you!

Great trip report! I love seeing that you guys got to do so much with two little ones. :goodvibes I see a lot of TRs where they don't do that much. Can't wait to read more!

We really did get to do alot. As long as the kids were happy we just kept going.

That picture with all the characters is just pricesless - that should be your Christmas card this year! :thumbsup2

That is a good idea!

WOW!! :) What a great day at DHS!!! :thumbsup2 I might need to go back and take another look at our DHS day plan! Those parade pics look so good! I think my girls would enjoy that parade as well! :goodvibes

We thought it was fun because there was so much energy. It also helped that Sully and Boo were by us quite a bit.

Looks like you had a lovely day at DHS and your girls are so good too :goodvibes

They were really good that day. It could have been a nightmare while we waited for Fantasmic!

I just read your updates and we were probably within inches of each other at Animal Kingdom too! It was kind of hard to miss Raggedy Ann, wasn't it?

Sounds like a great day at DHS loved the pics.

We were at Epcot on Tuesday as well. That was the only day we may have crossed paths. Is River an early riser? If not, you may have to remind him what he said!

I've never been able to stay in the parks all day. Not even when it's just been Dh and I.

I agree they really need to update the characters at breakfast but at least you had a good burito.
