We Opened Magic Kingdom With MICKEY! The Princesses First Trip 10/17/09-10/24/09

So your title sucked me right in and i'm loving your report!!!

I dont know what the odds are of getting picked to open the park but I'm guessing they arent good, so I'm thinking you guys must be super lucky!!!

We think they need to update the characters at H&V too. I say lets do a pixar theme! Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Up, Incredibles...any of those guys would be great. Our DS3 knew who JoJo was but the younger kids arent really going to know.

Anyway great report! Looking forward to more!!!

What an awesome day at MK! :thumbsup2 You seem to have a very relaxed way of touring - I admire that! :) The girls hair was so cute! I am also glad that you enjoyed 'Ohana! We loved it too! :goodvibes

Looks like a great day at MK! The girls look so excited to meet Tink!
I'm sorry you didn't get to see Spectro and Wishes, but there's always next time right?:thumbsup2

Loving your report so far!

Sorry that you didn't get a chance to see Spectro or Wishes. But also kinda nice that the 1st time you experience it you will be with your family.:goodvibes

Looking forward to more!:)

I'm new but I think your TR is great! My daughter will be almost 5 when we go, Im now thinking Pixie Hollow is a must! It looks like you had an awesome time, cant wait to hear about Ak.

I think your idea for H&V would be awsome! I think it would become a coveted ADR if they had Woody, Buzz, Sully, and Mike there.

We got alot done, but I didn't want to push them to far either. They were pretty proud of their pink hair. Ohana would a must do for us again.

They loved Tink! Ava cracks me up because she doesn't look that excited in the pics, but she was thrilled. That is how I'm trying to look at it for Spectro and Wishes. Have to have something new to look forward to!

I was bummed at the time, but I would much rather experience that with the rest of the crew!

WELCOME! If your daughter has any interest in the fairies at all I would definitely say you should make a point of going. The interactions were fantastic and worth every minute we waited.

I am so jealous that you are going soon! Is this a first trip or have you been before? Do you have any special plans?

On Thursday morning we started waking up around 6:30 again. I was so surprised that the girls never really slept any later than that. I guess it made it easier for us to get going early to the parks! We made our way to the bus and had a short wait. We arrived at AK at about 8 and took some time to take some pictures.

After we were allowed throught the turnstyles we made our way to the rope drop. Our first stop was the Safari. The opening show was OK, but from where we were standing we couldn't see Mickey up at the Tree of Life. When the rope dropped we made our way briskly to the Safari. I liked how they took the stroller and parked it for you. We made our way through the line quickly and we were on our way.

Stu got some great pictures and I will share some of the better ones.

I just loved the elephants and they were very active this morning.

disney09442.jpg

Doesn't the lion look so regal?

disney09448.jpg

After the safari we went on an adventure to find our stroller.

disney09451.jpg

The next thing on Erin's agenda was to go on Kali. She was so excited to get wet! Stu took one for the team on this one and said he would go with her. On the way we ran into to some friends. Ava wasn't excited to see them, but Miss Erin was.

disney09453.jpg

disney09454.jpg

We saw these guys waving at us and there was nobody in line!

disney09458.jpg

We arrived at Kali and there was no wait. Stu and Erin had a raft all to themselves and the CM said they could stay on if they wanted to. Ava and I took a spot on the bridge to catch a glimpse of our rafters.

disney09462.jpg

Ava had to run and see if they were OK.

disney09465.jpg

They were fine, just soaked!

disney09471.jpg

Our next adventure was Expedition Everest. The wait time was posted at 10 minutes, so we got our rider swap ticket. Erin and I went first and there was actually no wait at all. I didn't know what Erin would think, but she loved it. It was way better than I remembered. Stu and Erin went on again right away and they had a blast.

We decided to take an early lunch at this point because we wanted to catch the Lion King show at 12. We went to Pizzafari where the girls had cheese pizza, I had a pepperoni pizza, and Stu had an Italian sandwich. It must have been an OK meal because we ate everything.

Up next: Our AK day continued.

You guys have seen a lot already and it's just lunch time! I do believe that Miss Erin is going to be your little daredevil.;)

Joining in! I know you have already done a lot on your trip, but it seems like everything has been at a nice, relaxing pace. I may have to copy your touring for our next trip ;)

I'm subscribed now, haven't read, I just HAD to look at your pictures from the first few pages and I'm sitting here with tears on my cheeks!! I LOVE it--how very magical!! I can't wait to come back and read all about it! :goodvibes

The girls hair looks so cute and how sweet that Ava tried to show it to Peter Pan :goodvibes

AK looks so empty, you got so much done so quickly :thumbsup2

I'm just loving this report! Ds6 wanted to go to pixie hollow but the wait was to long on Monday and we didn't even check it on Thursday :confused3. I hope he still wants to do this next year but who knows he will be a 7 year old boy, I could always tell him well mommy wants to go so you have to too;). It looks like it was alot of fun.
Also looks like you had a great time at dinner.
ds loved Everest too. I chickened out! I'll see if I can get my nerve up next year. Looks like you guys are having a wonderful trip!

Oh wow!! Your AK day is shaping up nicely!! It looks like you got a lot done already!! LOVE the character pics!!!

They both turned out so adorable!

Unfortunately he took the camera with him because Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella showed up. They started yelling at everyone sitting in the garden that they needed to get out. You couldn't tell if it was all a gag or if they were serious. Well, they were serious. One little girl was crying her eyes out because they were going so crazy.

Yikes! :scared1: Poor kid!

So sweet! :lovestruc

Erin seems to be so in awe of everything she has experienced so far!

After meeting the fairies Stu said he was glad that I talked him into waiting. It was definitely another highlight of our trip.

:thumbsup2

My sweeties after a great meal.

disney09415-2.jpg

Glad you enjoyed your meal!

This evening we had planned to go to Spectro and Wishes, but the girls were just done. Stu said I could go ahead and he would take the girls back to POP. I thought long and hard and decided to go. I made my way into MK and found a spot in front of the castle. I looked up and saw the lit up castle and the wire for Tink and got very sad. I decided to leave because it just wouldn't be the same without my family. I got back to the hotel and Stu was surprised to see me, but he also wasn't. It just gives us something new and exicting to look forward to in the future!

I did the same exact thing. Just couldn't watch with the kids...

Sounds like your Animal Kingdom is going well so far, too!

We really got a lot done this day and we were not rushed at all. I was in shock by Erin's reaction to the rides! She wasn't scared one bit.

The crowd levels really helped us stay relaxed. It was awesome to be able to do so much.

I am so happy that you stopped by!

Peter Pan was really cute with them about their hair. He wanted to know if Tinker Bell did that to them!

You got to meet so many characters so early on each time! Great pics!

I couldn't believe how many characters we saw out and about on this trip. I don't remember ever seeing so many. Maybe I was more aware since the girls were with.

Pixie Hollow was so much fun! My husband and I said if they ever do a live action Tinker Bell movie this gal would have gotten the part hands down. I hope you can convince yourself to do Everest. It is one of my faves!

Oh wow!! Your AK day is shaping up nicely!! It looks like you got a lot done already!! LOVE the character pics!!!

I didn't have a lot of expectations for AK, but it ended up being one of our best days. The crowd levels and weather helped us have a great day. There were so many characters that I didn't expect to see. It was a great day!

I did the same exact thing. Just couldn't watch with the kids...

I was so set to go and watch Spectro and Wishes-until I got there. I just knew how excited the kids would have been to see Tink fly and to see the fireworks. Next time, right?

After Pizzafari we decided to head in the direction of Lion King. We had to stop and take some silly pictures.

disney09475.jpg

disney09477.jpg

We saw Lilo and Stitch while we were taking these pictures, but the girls did not want to see them. We continued down the path towards Lion King and ran into Pocahontas! Ava was willing to let her sign her autograph book, but still no pictures.

disney09481.jpg

We made our way to the theater and waited outside for about 15 minutes before we were let in. We made our way inside and sat in the lowest row of the risers. Looking back I wish we had sit up just a little higher, but it was still fine.

The show began and Stu took a picture of this fellow.

disney09485.jpg

He had a big, booming laugh and he told Stu he was going to pay for that. He proceeded to take him up in front of our group and Stu had to teach our group how to sound like elephants. Here is the leader of the elephants!

disney09492.jpg

The girls thought that was hilarious! Following the lessons on animal sounds there was just a flurry of activity. This show had such high energy and was very entertaining.

We headed out of the show and found our stroller. Ava was ready for some sleep. This girl loves her nap! I think she is making up for her sister.

Continued in the next post.

Our plan was to go to the Nemo show at 2, so we had some time to kill. We decided that since Ava was sleeping we would let Erin blow off some steam at the Boneyard. On the way we noticed that Pooh was going to be out at 1:15. I asked Erin if she wanted to see him and she said yes. She played for a little bit and then it was time for the characters to come out. Stu sat with Ava in Dinoland while she slept and Erin and I went to see Pooh. I was a little disappointed that Ava wouldn't get to see Pooh, but she needed her rest.

Erin and I quickly made our way through line and first up was Pooh.

disney09522.jpg

The next friend was Eeyore.

disney09524.jpg

Last up was silly Tigger.

disney09527.jpg

After the character meet we headed back to Dinoland to grab Stu and Ava. We made our way to the Nemo theater and I was glad we were able to go right in for a seat. It was a nice and cool chance to relax.

After the show we decided Ava needed a chance to blow off some steam too. We headed back to The Boneyard and let the girls run free. Stu decided to go check out the Dinosaur ride while the girls played and was back before I knew it.

We decided it was time to stake out a spot for the parade. We wanted to see the It's Tough To Be a Bug movie after the parade and we were able to get a spot for the parade right at the entrance to the movie. While we waited I went to get some snacks. We had a strawberry bar, a jalapeno cheese pretzel, and a frozen lemonade. I loved that pretzel!

Erin had fun checking out the ducks while we were waiting

disney09529.jpg

Ava named these two Donald and Daisy. She kept yelling at them that they needed to go and get ready for the parade.

disney09532.jpg

Before we knew it the parade was on its way.

disney09530.jpg

disney09531.jpg

I loved the spot we sat in. It was a small space so it was only us and three other people. Almost all of the characters that were walking approached the girls.

Minnie always looks so cute.

disney09539.jpg

Ava was a champ at this parade!

After the parade we went directly to It's Tough To Be a Bug. This movie was my favorite 3D movie of the week. When we got out of the movie it seemed like a lot of people had left. We had dinner reservations at Boma, but they weren't until 5:40. We decided we might as well stay and see what else we could see. We headed back to Dinoland and we rode Tricera Top Spin. When we were done it was about 4:30. Stu and Erin wanted to see if they could get one more ride in on Everest. They headed off and Ava and I were going to take our time making our way to the front. As we made our way past the character landing the CM outside said he had time for one more family if we were interested. I asked Ava if she wanted to see Pooh and she said yes! I was so excited!

I don't know what came over her, but she was very brave this afternoon. All of Ava's pictures crack me up because she doesn't look excited, but she was.

disney09559.jpg

disney09560.jpg

disney09563.jpg

After we were done we made our way to the turnstyles. About ten minutes later Stu and Erin showed up. They were excited to share that they got on Everest two more times and Ava was excited to tell them about Pooh.

We found the bus to AKL and were quickly on our way to Boma. We checked in and were seated within five minutes. This reservation was because Stu and I wanted to eat here, but the girls loved it. It was cool because when Erin was getting her food one of the chefs came out and introduced himself to her. He told her to let him know if there was anything she wanted. She was more than satisfied with what was there.

My three sweeties after another satisfying meal.

disney09564.jpg

After dinner we went to check out the pool, animals and playground. We decided we didn't want to deal with taking the bus back to POP and we took a cab back. Within minutes we were back and decided to take a short swim before bed. Definitely another great day.

Up next: Back to Epcot and DTD
