We Opened Magic Kingdom With MICKEY! The Princesses First Trip 10/17/09-10/24/09

Today was an early Extra Magic Hours day at Epcot. I was probably awake at about 6:00, so I decided to go down to the food court and get breakfast for my crew. Since it was so early there was only one station open. It made the choice pretty easy-we had waffles. I brought it back to the room where we had a fun little picnic.

We made it to Epcot in time for the rope drop and headed directly to Test Track. While Stu and Erin rode the first time, Ava and I went to Soarin' and got fastpasses. By the time we got back they were waiting for us. Erin and I used the rider swap pass and got right back onto Test Track. The CM didn't even take our pass because there was nobody waiting. Erin LOVED this ride. She really enjoyed the part where you burst through the doors to the outside.

Next up Erin and Stu went to Mars. Ava and I waited in the gift shop where she tried on some hats.

Ava was really admiring the pins here. We ended up striking up a conversation with a CM and another visitor. The visitor thought it was neat how interested that Ava was in the pins. She proceeded to take out a lanyard and asked who she liked and she said Tink. The woman said that Tink was her favorite too and gave her a pin! I thought that was so sweet.

Next we did Spaceship Earth and walked right on. It was about 9 at this point. After we played some games at the end of the ride we headed to The Land. I had to try out the Strawberry Shortcake at Sunshine Seasons and it did not disappoint. Following our snack Stu and Erin rode Soarin'. Ava and I were going to ride Living with the Land, but it shut down right before we got there. I ended up riding Soarin' by myself because Erin didn't want to go back on it. Stu took them over to The Seas while they waited and they were entertained by the mine, mine seagulls.

We rode Nemo next and then went to see the Crush show. That was pretty entertaining. A little boy asked him how to make quarters and Crush asked him if he was at the right show.

We headed to World Showcase at about 11 and rode the Gran Fiesta Tour. We headed to Norway after the ride because we had an 11:55 ADR at Akershus. We checked in and were seated within 5 minutes. First up we got to meet Belle. Erin was so excited, Ava not so much.

disney09292.jpg

Our servers name was Christian. He explained a couple of the meals to us and also told us about the buffet. Stu had the Venison Sausage and he seemed to enjoy it. The girls got crazy and had hot dogs. I had the Kjottake, which was basically meatballs and mashed potatoes. The part that I liked the best was the cold buffet. All of us would have been fine just having that.

Our food arrived and the princesses started making their way out. The doorway they came through was about five tables away so we didn't have to wait long. Erin was so excited.

disney09295.jpg

First up was Snow White. This meal was when we realized that Ava wanted nothing to do with the princesses. She just wanted to eat her hot dog.

disney09297.jpg

Erin was happy to meet her.

Next up was Erin's personal favorite, Sleeping Beauty.

disney09305.jpg

The picture of Erin and Cinderella turned out really nice.

disney09310.jpg

Last, but not least, was Ariel.

disney09313.jpg

disney09316.jpg

After lunch we decided to head back to Pop for some rest. Ava was tired, but still a lady.

disney09317.jpg

We got back to the resort and we all crashed. I woke up at about 4:15 and asked if anybody wanted to go swimming. Erin was game, so we went down to the bowling pin pool.

disney09319.jpg

After about ten minutes she decided she wanted to go to the kiddie pool.

disney09323.jpg

disney09327.jpg

disney09332.jpg

After we had been down there for a while Stu and Ava decided to join us.

After dinner we cleaned up and headed back to Epcot. We had a 7:55 dinner reservation at Rose & Crown. Erin and I decided to use our rider swap pass from earlier to do Test Track again. We got right to the loading doors and the ride went down. We waited for about 15 minutes and it still wasn't going so I told her we would have to move on because of our reservation.

We checked in to Rose and Crown and this was our longest wait of the week. We got in at about 8:25 and we were seated inside so that was kind of a bummer. For dinner Stu had the pork loin and he loved it. I had the Chicken Mushroom Pie and the Toffee Pudding for dessert. I really enjoyed both. The girls had the meaty macaroni and I don't remember them eating much.

Around 8:50 our server Heather brought us out to the viewing patio for Illuminations. We enjoyed the show, but we were really crammed on the patio. After Illuminations we went back in for dessert and visited with Heather. We finally left at about 9:40 and we had to drag our tired selves home.

Up next: Another fun day at MK and dinner at O'Hana

Great report!:)I know EXACTLY what you mean about the crowded Veranda at Rose and Crown for IllumiNations. The Illuminations "experience" at R&C is really not very good despite its "reputation".:)

GREAT updates!! HS sounded like a great day!! My girls sat in awe for the entire Beauty and the Beast show as well. It was my favorite show of our trip!! And Fantasmic--wow!! We stood in line to see it in the pouring rain but it was cancelled. So it is on our list for next time!! Your day at Epcot looked wonderful!! I just LOVE Soarin'--my favorite ride--hands down!! And Akershus--what a great princess meal!! :goodvibes Your girls are so cute!! They looked like they had a lot of fun in the pool! Can't wait to hear more!

The woman said that Tink was her favorite too and gave her a pin! I thought that was so sweet.

Both of your girls are beautiful! Sounds like a really good Epcot day!

I love the look on Erin's face as she meets the Princesses, so sweet and I love the pool photos too, looks like she's having so much fun. The photo of Ava asleep in her pram with her legs crossed is priceless :rotfl:

:cool1: What an awesome day! That Akershus lunch sounds better and better every time I hear about it! :thumbsup2 Might have to try that one some time! So glad Erin enjoyed meeting the Princesses! :cutie: She is the PERFECT age for it! :goodvibes

How amazing to open the Magic Kingdom and on your first day no less!! That would be tough to top. I am in for the rest of your report going back to read more!

Caught up on your report. Just have to say that your girls are both adorable. Erin looks so excited to see every character. Can't wait to read more

I've never been able to stay in the parks all day. Not even when it's just been Dh and I.

We were definitely wiped out at the end of the day.

I was a little disappointed. I think next time we will just get a spot on our own.

I really hope that you get to see Fantasmic next time. That had to be pretty frustrating to wait and then have it cancelled!

Look at Erin's face!

She was just in awe of the princesses. It was nice to finally have warm enough weather to enjoy the pools. We had so many people giggling at Ava's pose during her rest.

We really did enjoy ourselves at Akershus. Ava was more about the food, but she still enjoyed it as long as she didn't have to be near the princesses!

your girls are sp pretty. Erin's smile realy lights up a picture!

She is so photogenic! I don't think she has ever taken a bad picture.

Erin did love the characters so much. Each one was just as exciting as the last. Ava was pretty hit and miss with the characters, but she loved Pluto, Chip n' Dale, and Tink.

Great updates! Really enjoying your TR!:goodvibes

Thank you so much!

Today we were up and at it for another day at Magic Kingdom! As we made our way to the bus stop the girls noticed the balloons in the sky. It was so peaceful and beautiful.

disney09347.jpg

We arrived at Magic Kingdom around 8:10. We were allowed through the turnstyles and the girls played with the hula hoops. A CM also had a bubble maker that kept the girls pretty entertained. The CM also gave them each a packet of pixie dust to do with what they wanted. They had fun passing it out to other kids to toss at rope drop.

Our first mission this morning was to go to the Barber Shop to have some colored gel and pixie dust put in the girls hair. I didn't tell them about it until we got there, but they were very excited. We went there right at rope drop and Erin and Ava were 3rd and 4th in line. They really enjoyed themselves here.

And here is the finished product.

disney09368.jpg

disney09369.jpg

I felt like this was a pretty decent bargain. They had so much fun and they got comments on their hair-dos all day.

Following their styling session we headed to Buzz Lightyear and we were able to walk right on. The girls thought it was pretty funny to be behind bars.

disney09370.jpg

Following Buzz we went on Astro Orbiters and then on to the Raceway. At this point we decided we needed a snack so we had some bananas and another yummy Mickey bar. We decided to make our way to the Fairytale Garden to see Belle's story time.

The girls and I went to sit down and Stu went to grab FPs for Splash Mt. Unfortunately he took the camera with him because Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, and Drizella showed up. They started yelling at everyone sitting in the garden that they needed to get out. You couldn't tell if it was all a gag or if they were serious. Well, they were serious. One little girl was crying her eyes out because they were going so crazy.

They were there for about ten minutes and then we were allowed back into the garden. The story time was very cute.

disney09371.jpg

After the story we asked the girls what they wanted to do next. They wanted to go back to it's a small world. On the way we stopped at the Wishing Well.

disney09377.jpg

And we ran into Peter Pan. Ava was so cute trying to show him her hair, but that is all the closer she would get to him!

disney09380.jpg

disney09382.jpg

Ava was able to stay awake this time at it's a small world and she loved it, but it was time for a snoozie when she was done. She climbed into her stroller and we made our way to Splash. Erin and I went on first and thankfully we didn't get too wet. When Stu and Erin went on they did not have the same fate. They were soaked! Since Ava was still sleeping we decided to use our FPs that we got on Sunday when Philharmagic shut down. Stu and Erin decided that they needed to dry off so we used them on Big Thunder.

We decided we needed something to eat so we stopped at Columbia Harbour House. Ava had a PB&J, Erin had mac and cheese, and Stu and I split a tuna sandwich since we would having a big dinner at 'Ohana.

Up next: A visit with Tink and dinner at 'Ohana

What cute hair!! I bet that was fun for the girls!! We just LOVED Storytime With Belle--it was very well done! I like your pics with Peter Pan--that was the same Peter Pan we met on our trip!! Can't wait to hear about Tink and O'hana (my favorite place to eat)!!! :goodvibes

Great update! The girls hair looks so cute. I have heard a lot of stories where the stepsisters scare people. We didn't run into them on our last trip, but before our next one I think I will warn the kids about them. Can't wait to read more.:goodvibes

Peter Pan was rather fiesty. He was getting after the woman in front of us because she got out of line to get the rest of her party and then proceeded to take them all back to the front of the line. He really laid into her!

The crazy thing with the stepsisters was that you couldn't really tell if the whole thing was a joke or not. Once you met them one on one in the line they were relatively tame and funny.

Did you need a reservation/appt or did you just walk up?

They don't take reservations at all at the barber shop. We went first thing at rope drop and when we finished there was already 5 people waiting behind us, so try to get there right away. I have read that another good time to go is during the parade.

Just found your trippie and am enjoying immensly. Appears the crowds were light. I'm hoping for the same when we make our trip in Feb. Can't wait to read and see more.

During lunch I told Stu that I had been thinking all morning about taking the girls to see Tink. He wasn't too hot on the idea about standing in line. We had booked the character meals to avoid standing in lines so he was hesitant. I said we should just walk over there and see how long the wait was before he said no. We made our way over to the tent and the wait was 45 minutes. I explained to him that I really wanted to do this because I knew the kids would enjoy it. I hadn't even told them that there was a possibility to meet Tink because I didn't think we would have time. We really had nothing else that we planned to do until dinner at 5, so he agreed. We joined the line and almost exactly 45 minutes later we were ushered in. We were told we would meet Fawn, Tink, and Terrance. First up was Fawn. She was very sweet.

disney09387.jpg

disney09388.jpg

Next up was TINK! Stu felt like he should video tape at this point and I am so glad he did. Tink was adorable and had so much energy. One of the conversations that they had was about acorn tea. She asked them if they liked acorn tea and Ava said she liked McDonalds. I thought the PhotoPass photographer was going to fall over he was laughing so hard.

disney09394.jpg

disney09395.jpg

After saying goodbye to Tink it was time to meet Terrance. Ava took one look at him and wanted nothing to do with him. On the other hand there was Erin's response to him

disney09399.jpg

She was sweet on Terrance.

disney09401.jpg

After meeting the fairies Stu said he was glad that I talked him into waiting. It was definitely another highlight of our trip.

We made our way to the front of the park and the parade was just finishing. We decided to leave and go check out the Wilderness Lodge. We took the boat and it was nice to sit and relax for a few minutes. After exploring for a bit we decided we better start toward the Polynesian. We took a boat back to MK and from there we took another boat to Poly by way of the Grand Floridian. It was fun to try out the different modes of transportation.

We headed up to 'Ohana and got into the HUGE line to check in. Our ADR was at 5, but we didn't get seated until 5:15. Our cousin's name was Roy and he was OK. They started to bring out the food and we were in heaven. The food here was awesome! I would have been happy with just the appetizers, but I also really enjoyed the steak and shrimp. Stu said his favorite was the appetizers and the turkey.

During our meal the kids enjoyed all of the activites that they had.

disney09403.jpg

disney09406.jpg

Here Erin is learning to hula.

disney09410.jpg

My sweeties after a great meal.

disney09415-2.jpg

Ava and I also had to get into the action with some maraca shaking.

disney09419.jpg

disney09420.jpg

This evening we had planned to go to Spectro and Wishes, but the girls were just done. Stu said I could go ahead and he would take the girls back to POP. I thought long and hard and decided to go. I made my way into MK and found a spot in front of the castle. I looked up and saw the lit up castle and the wire for Tink and got very sad. I decided to leave because it just wouldn't be the same without my family. I got back to the hotel and Stu was surprised to see me, but he also wasn't. It just gives us something new and exicting to look forward to in the future!
