We need a support group for Resale Dvc purchases. It is such a long and drawled out event..yes it's exciting, yes it's saving a ton of money, yes it's going to be great. BUT the waiting is bringing some of that down. So fellow Resale purchasers what stage are you in and how long did each stage take?

Buying resale is like going through the stages of grief:

1.) Denial- You deny that you will ever put another offer in on a resale contract
2.) Anger- You get angry at yourself because of the perfect contract that you let get away
3.) Bargaining- You then bargain with a new seller to purchase a different contract, finally agreeing to a price
4.) Depression- You get depressed that the process is and will take a long time and that you looked at the ROFR Board and just know that Disney is going to steal your contract
5.) Acceptance- After closing and all is done, you accept that the points you just purchased will not be enough

Return to stage 1

Decision to buy - 1 day after return from the Disney trip. :yay:
Searching for the "right" contract - 4-5 days :yay:

Contract offered and acceptance - 1 day :thanks:

ROFR - 27 days:snail:
Estoppel - 26 days :snail:
Closing (in process), but about 15 days.
Deed Recording and points showing up - Title company setting expectations of 21-30 days. :snail:

Being a part of Disney Magic - Priceless :welcome:

I agree! We are first time buyers and almost at the end, fingers crossed!
Offer 2/2
Sent for ROFR 2/3

ROFR passed 2/25

Estoppel received 3/25

Closing documents 3/26

Documents FedExed 3/27 (Friday)

Title company received buyer's and seller's documents 3/30 (Monday)

Closed 3/31, and deed recorded!
Waiting to call for our member # . . . may start trying tomorrow?!?!

I'm almost precisely a week behind sgrap. I've been coming to this board often in the past 2 months just to read about others going through this same process. It's been reassuring to know I haven't been lost in the grind when weeks pass without any apparent movement. It's all so painfully slow, but worthwhile financially. Couldn't be doing this otherwise!

We just passed estoppel today. Sent in our offer on President's day, so about two months for ROFR/estoppel.

contract sent to ROFR 2/5
ROFR waived 3/2
received closing docs 4/1
deed recorded 4/7
waiting for points to load

We are buying at Bay Lake
Made offer on 3/30
Sellers countered on 4/1
We accepted 4/1
Contract returned 4/2
Sellers returned contract and sent to Disney 4/6

i feel like mine is taking FOREVER! I Fed Exed my closing docs and money on March 26, received word that they received it on March 30 and sent for closing. Still haven't heard anything about closing and the deed has not been filed as of yet. Waiting to hear back from the closing company on estimated dates... I'm on edge! Everything else was exactly to the estimated timeline...Definitely could use a support group.

I'd like to join, please! I'm in ROFR as of April 2 for another contract. Every time I think this one doesn't matter as much and that the wait will be way easier, I realize I'm a total fibber.

Good luck to everyone in this long process. It's tough to remain patient. Thank You everyone for posting. The information here is priceless.

Have you checked the Comptroller website to see if your deed recorded?

I just got a letter dated 3/31 stating I would be getting my package in about 10 days. I need to bank or use points. So i call dvc today. They say they cant give me my member number. I have to call my agent. I emailed him, waiting to hear back.

Is this a true story of how this works or should i call back dvc for a more helpful agent?

Your agent wouldn't have any way of knowing this. Once your contract is sent off to ROFR, your broker's work is essentially done, and it's in the hands of the title company after that (who also don't have any way of getting you the member number). I'd start calling Member Accounting about ten days after you saw your deed recorded :)

I agree with what pangyal is saying... Start calling Member accounting (option 3) ten days after the deed recorded on the comptroller site. Good luck and congrats!

I see there is an ROFR thread, an estoppel thread, a closing thread, where is the "My seller is dragging his feet on signing the contracts and getting this party started" thread? I can tell this is going to be a looooooooooonnnnnnnggggggggg 3 months (if I'm lucky!)!

I love the idea of a support group :)

Some of your comments crack me up. I thought the purpose of this board was a support group. Hang in there friends. :)
