We loved it so much WE HAD TO GO BACK!!! A Spontaneous Spring Break Trip Update 7/20

I am sorry for my lack of Disbaords participation lately, planning and working and catching up on sleep have totally taken over my life. But I am back now for an update!!! Hope you enjoy.

TTFN: Ta Ta For Now
March 8, 2012

After we made our way to the main Fantasia pool we decided to check out two more of the hotel’s sections. And we found ourselves right in the middle of Fantasia 2000.

I had to laugh because before the trip I did all the research I could on All Star Music to make sure this was the resort we wanted to choose. During my search I found a picture thread of the hotel here someone had posted a picture like this

IMG_7236.jpg

One woman seemed very concerned and sad that this specific toy solider was the only one without both legs. Obviously she had either never seen Fantasia 2000 or she just didn’t remember that that was a plot point so he was specifically made like that.

Moving on we saw Disney’s version of the sorting hat

IMG_7237.jpg

That will probably be the only Harry Potter reference you will ever see from me here on the Dis, I am not a HP fan and don’t know anything about it other than what happened in the first book because I was forced to read it in 4th grade English when it came out.

The ones major reason I would not want to stay in this section?

Say hello to my little friend!!!

IMG_7238.jpg

CREEEEEEPYYYYYYYY. I’ll get you my pretty…

I love this ballerina because she is widdled out of wood in the movie and her curls are just perfect little wood carving ringlets. Yea, I know I’m strange and love characters for the strangest reasons.

IMG_7239.jpg

The colors in the section are so vibrant and rich they really do a good job of making the movie come to life

IMG_7240.jpg

The very back section of the resort is Love Bug (one of the two non preferred buildings at the resort, the other being mighty ducks which I didn’t get pictures of. sorry)

I really liked this section. I was a little put off by it at first hearing that it was at the back of the resort but I am use to huge sprawling resorts (SSR and POR) so to me walking is WALKING. If you don’t want to pay the extra money to stay in one of the three preferred buildings and don’t have tiny babies I wouldn’t worry about the walk. It’s really, in my opinion, not that far out of the way.

And now I give you… Love Bug

IMG_7241.jpg

They had a nice little water feature here, basic mister but a nice way to cool off on a really hot day!!!

IMG_7243.jpg

Andy was all about being in the winner’s circle

IMG_7244.jpg

I think Herbie is cute. They had a Love Bug song that played on the bus that I REALLY liked but only heard once (but I heard Cruella Devil about 2 million times)

IMG_7245.jpg

IMG_7246.jpg

I love that the headlights and bumper make a face. How precious, smile for the camera Herbie!!!

IMG_7247.jpg

For some reason they also have a random Donald and Daisy in between the two sections with a hammock not to far away. To mee it seemed oddly placed but whatevs.

IMG_7248.jpg

Donald is Andy’s absolute favorite!!!

IMG_7249.jpg

Hey Daisy, I think your kind of a snob but I don’t discriminate

IMG_7250.jpg

Then we decided to head to the gift shop and food court to fill up our mug and then go back to the room to gather up out belongings.

This resort is literally photogenic from every angle

IMG_7251.jpg

On the way back there were quite a few windows that were decorated. I love that so many people do this!!!

IMG_7252.jpg

While we were in the gift shop I spoted another trading box, you know what that means!!!

I had picked up this guy the night before he said 2011, I took a picture of all 4 sides but for some reason I decided that blurry photos were acceptable sooooooooo I must have been tired haha. Here is the back

IMG_7257.jpg

This was above the cash register in the gift shop. How classy, I really did like this resort a lot despite the preconceived notions I had about it.

IMG_7259.jpg

I traded for this hipster hippo guy.

IMG_7260.jpg

Good thing there was still time to trade. I did not want to end up going home with this guy.

We headed back to the room to say our last goodbyes and then headed out the door to check our bags at the hotel so we didn’t have to worry about it at the airport. Just so you know, the luggage check in at the hotel closes at 1pm. DON’T MISS OUT, it’s actually really helpful and gives you less hassle once you arrive at the airport (which no on wants to do)

Out the door we were, sad faces and all of our luggage came with us

Andy First

IMG_7260.jpg

Then Pluto and I

IMG_7263.jpg

We didn’t know when we would be back so this was a really sad day.

We dropped our stuff off after a quick ID check and we were worry free for the rest of the trip.

BUT, we still had a beautiful day ahead of us at All Star Music

IMG_7261.jpg

Tune In Next Time!!!

I stayed at the Fantasia section back in ‘09 and I remember that clown. CREEPY!

The hippo dude Vinylmation is just weird. I can see why you wouldn’t want to keep him.

Trading the Day Away
March 8, 2012

Once we dropped off our luggage at the Resort Airline check in we hopped on a bus to Downtown Disney to go get some lunch….

Some of our favorite lunch!!!

I feel like the bus ride to downtown Disney is always THE LONGEST bus ride in history. I made sure to time it so that I could get a good estimate of when we should start heading back to the resort.

We ended up with quit a bit of time to spend there so I wasn’t too worried since we did all of our shopping for family the night before.

We took a quick shop around the kitchen shop that they have there because Andy’s sister had just bought a house and was looking for a meet tenderizer (or as Andy calls it “a meat hammer”) No luck.

IMG_7264.jpg

I believe we ended up getting her a kitchen magnet and a few other little things.

Then we went right into the next building and were ready to gobble down the best lunch we could think of on our last day!!!

That’s right, if you don’t know what that it is I’ll give you a little hint: It Starts with Earl and ends with Sandwich.

We ended up getting “the usual” which for me consists of The Veggie sandwich (red peppers and feta cheesy goodnessssss) and a side of macaroni salad. For Andy it was the Caribbean Jerk Chicken and potato chips. Both were topped of with a delicious ice cold root beer.

IMG_7265.jpg

If you haven’t tried Earl of Sandwich yet you MUST. It is the best deal on Disney food, the sandwiches look kind of small but let me tell you… I am more full after this sub than I am eating an entire subway foot long and trust me I can pack away some subway. The bread is the most delicious creation on the planet. JUST GO, next time you are in downtown Disney looking for a quick bite this is where you want to head!!!

After we refueled we deiced we were raring and ready to go with our DTD day. First stop was the Pin Stop to do a little trading of my Vinylmation. After all this is where is all began back in August. The very first place I bought Vinlymation, the start of the trading chaos if you will.

I traded from their mystery box for this, which I thought was sooo cool

IMG_7266.jpg

Sorry they are a little blurry. Walking and taking close up isn’t my strong suit.

IMG_7268.jpg

From there we headed into Once Upon a Toy to check out the kiddie items, after all a 22 year old can never have enough stuffed animals!!!

IMG_7269.jpg

Andy apparently doesn’t agree with the previous statement.

We made our way inside and through the shop to the stuffed animal area and I found this guy… not really the worlds BIGGEST fan. If you like Duffy you like Duffy. I just happen to think he is a tad over rated. I heard of him way back when from a Lurky Loo trip report about a trip she took from Japan and the original Duffy bear where he fits in perfect at Disney Tokyo Sea (Minnie’s gift to Mickey when he joined the Navy I believe). I just feel like he is complete out of context here and is just used to make money. So yea, not a Duffy fan.

IMG_7270.jpg

In the room behind the Duffy room I found another trading box!!! We were on a roll and by we I mean me, Andy isn’t a trader. From time to time he asks if he can pick a number for me and obviously I let him, anything I can do to make him get into the Disney spirit. This was one of his trades..

IMG_7275.jpg

Country Bearsssssss. Poor guy, after that he said I’m never trading again. Usually he ends up picking the not so great ones aka Big Baby from Toy Story 3.

From there we decided to check out World of Disney, you know incase they got in anything new since we were there at 11 the night before haha.

We decided to stop and make a Penny, that’s where it’s at for Andy. He is all about squishing pennies. He has an official book that he carries with him in the park everyday. I collect all the quarters from the trip and we got a roll of brand new shinny pennies for our August trip that we still haven’t used up. I keep them all in a little giraffe change purse that he also carries. I love watching him dig out all his supplies, making his selection and cranking that wheel. SO STINKIN’ CUTE.

Unfortunately when he tried making me an Ariel penny, what a sweet guy the display was different than the one that came out of the machine. We ended up with a duplicate. He was kind of sad because he is usually so careful to not get any doubles. Oh well I love Ariel so it was ok I told him.

IMG_7276.jpg

We continues on our tour through DTD and we passed this beautiful sight.

IMG_7278.jpg

The middle peak, giant bay window and the five windows on either side were all part of our BEAUTIFUL and GIANT 3bedroom grand villa that we were so graciously upgraded to on our August trip. That room was a castle. The homiest of home away from homes and my favorite hotel stay to date.

From there we passed Fulton’s which had seemed to have received a face lift since our trip in August.

IMG_7279.jpg

To me it kind of looks a little Boxy and weird.

We had decided to walk all the way down to the other end of DTD. So we trecked onward and passed through the sad ghost town formerly known as Pleasure Island.

Along the way I traded for this pirate guy

IMG_7281.jpg

Then we went into the Vinylmation store and I traded again for this guy

IMG_7282.jpg

We went into the Candy Cauldron to look around, not going to lie the smell of the candy places can be a little over whelming for me. We made a quick look see to see if they had any red velvet cake pops, which they didn’t, and we were out of there.

Back to the Vinlymation store it was so that Andy could trade my Vinly for me

IMG_7284.jpg

I think this was a Tron one but I’m not sure.

We took the long and HOT walk back to the bus stop. This was the hottest day of our trip and of course it had to be the day we were leaving. I guess it’s better though because I had to keep the sun tan to a minimum for Little Women.

On the way back through we stopped at the “cheap store” or the “bargain basement” of Disney where we found a great deal on Vinlymations. 4 items for $20 there was no way we could pass that up. We ended up picking out 4 vinlys to bring home for everyone.

IMG_7735.jpg

they were from the 40th Anniversary Celebration so we got MK, Epcot, HS and a generic one. We figured everyone would fight over not getting stuck with the Animal Kingdom one so we left that one at the store. Sorry AK…

The Family ended up LOVING them when we got back.

We got to the bus stop and had about a 20-30 minute wait for the bus. We sat on a bench which only my legs got sun and I ended the BIGGEST leg tan ever!!! Thank goodness for tights and bloomers haha

Sunny sunny happiness, what a great way to bring an end to our last day.

IMG_7285.jpg

Tune In Next Time!!!

Seriously, the bus ride to DTD is SOOO long.

Earl of Sandwich is da bomb. I could really go for some right now.

I hate the way Fulton’s looks now. I agree that it looks very boxy.

Wow! You guys were on a trading spree that day!
