my FIL (who has progressive MS) fell last night and broke his left wrist. He has a cast from his hand to above his elbow. He is unsteady on his feet already and we have an ECV rented for him for the trip but this makes things much more difficult. His transfers are shaky at times, now he will have more trouble getting onto any rides even the tame ones.

The frustrating thing is that I am a PT and I have repeatedly recommended to my IL's that he use a walker or a cane as he has had several falls (luckily no other injuries). My FIL thinks he is fine and does not need these things. It's more frustrating because they are my in-laws.

Another poster here has questions about accessible rooms at POFQ. Since you will be there soon, might you describe the room and perhas post photos for them? You may find an internet kiosk for a quick note from the field next week. I'm sure they would really appreciate it.

Regarding your FIL, stubborness and denial can be harder than the rock of ages. But it's their choice, and you must lovingly and patiently give them your best support. He might really like the Flower and Garden Festival at Epcot, which he can enjoy at his own pace.

I can empathize. My FIL has had really bad hips and knees forr the past 15 years (it usually takes him 3 or 4 "swings" to get up from a chair).
Weve talked to him about renting an evc, we even bought him a really cool cane (in fact, now that I think about it, we've bought him 2 cool canes over the years), but he didn't think he was that bad, so won't use them.
After talking about using an ecv at WDW for about 10 years, he finally used one the last day of our trip this March. He loved it and spent his first un-painful day at WDW in many years.
