We just got a Pug

OP: We had 2 dogs too, Jack Russell and Pug!
Our Vet used to say the JRT was like a treadmil for the pug! She kept him fit with all the running in the yard.

If I may ask, in what ways do their allergies show? I've been careful trying to find treats and things that have the fewest extra ingredients that seem like just added junk. What kind of food do you feed them?

As someone said earlier...they get very red...and very itchy...usually in the butt area..

I feed my dogs Taste of the Wild food...and sometimes Pinnacle if I get a good sale on it..but usually Taste of Wild is my go to..

We love our JR...she's 13 yrs old and just a fiesty as the puppy and toddler dog we have. Her hearing and sight are getting bad but not her energy level!

<------ Pug!

That's my boy, he is 14 and his face is very gray now, and he is blind, but he is still the biggest love ever. I have always cleaned his nose fold with baby wipes, and he has never had a fungal infection. Pugs are prone to skin allergies. Purina dog food gave him hives as did Tru Green/Chemlawn. I'm glad to hear that he isn't the only one that acts like you are trying to cut off his feet when you trim his nails. I just take him to the groomer. She clips them lickety-split for $5. He loves a bath. He rarely barks. Even at 14 and blind as a bat he still begs for (and eats LOL) everything imaginable. We call him the baby bird now, because he tips back his head and opens his mouth wide like a baby bird, and waits for you to drop food in his mouth.

Something no one has mentioned.... because of their breathing issues and folds of skin on their necks, pugs should not have collars. Walk him using a harness. If you hold the harness out, mine will actually step into it then turn to the side and wait for your to buckle it.

Dax, is your siamese cat well behaved? The one I had growing up was nasty as a hornet.

Your menagerie is beautiful.

Well behaved....:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Thats an understatment..He is h e double hockey sticks on 4 paws..and pair him up with the other one in my pic...

Dexter is a counter climber, and I think he is getting to hefty to get on top of the cabinets now...but that does not stop him from tearing about the house.

But he is also a huge lover...he loves his attention!:love:
