Here's one more...I didn't figure out how to put both in one post . Actually I needed to get off the computer to take her outside

Here is our Miss Lola![]()
Congrats! We love our pug. Ours is extremely loving and goofy. He will go to anyone who will pet him. Some things to know/do that I can think of off the top of my head:
- They do shed A TON.
- Get her used to trimming her toe nails b/c pugs notoriously hate this
- Clean her nose wrinkle religiously or she can get yeast infections. Do not use baby wipes. You can use malaseb pledgets or hexadene flush (neither one needs a prescription but is worth its weight in gold).
- She may be very difficult to potty train (a lot of pugs are b/c of their being stubborn)
- They will do their own thing whether you like it or not
- Catch any eye problems early.
- They love to eat so be careful with feeding
- Enjoy her--pugs are so easy to love!

We cured the nose roll problems by eliminating wheat from Puggles' and Prancer's diets. The wheat is what caused the yeast to grow. I haven't cleaned a nose roll in over 10 years because of this.
I'll have to look into that. I'd be surprised if it was the cause of ours' problem. He has an EXTREEEEEMELY deep nose wrinkle and everything gets into it. His face is completely flat with no protrusion in the mouth area and our vet said it's unavoidable with him. He doesn't so much get yeast infections now as it just gets gross.
One other recommendation that worked for us... Azmira, a homeopathic dog food/product company, makes a YEAST & FUNGAL D'TOX standardized (1 fl. oz.) "Promotes natural antifungal, antibacterial and anti-yeast properties. Helps the body eliminate fungal infestations such as Valley Fever, Candida overgrowth, ear, ******l or penile yeast infections and ringworm." We used this to cure Puggles' fungal issues. The pills were $3 per day from the vet and she would take them for 9-months at a time. Within 2 weeks of starting her on this Anti yeast and fungal product, her fungus was gone and the product only cost $15. You put 3 drops into the food each day.
If you continue to have nose roll issues, this may be something you'd like to look into also. You're right, nose roll yeast is gross.
Lola is beautiful!
We had Puggles as our first baby and she pranced around so much that we wanted a second pug... so we named our second pug, Prancer. Prancer doesn't prance like Puggles did, though.
Prancer just celebrated her 13th birthday on May 14th. She is a little love muffin and although she is now blind and deaf, she gets around great. Although, she is very funny when she thinks she's barking at me in the kitchen when she is actually facing the other direction.
If you ever need any specific help, PM me. Prancer was bred as a show dog, but she turned out to be a runt who became beautiful after she was about 18 months. Her eyes have always been too big for her head and so she can't close them all the way when she sleeps. This led to pigmentary keratitis (PK) that requires cyclosporine drops 2X per day and led to her blindness. She is also allergic to everything under the sun so I had to get creative for a while in making her kibble until I found the one dog food she could eat without turning red.
We'd have gotten another pug in a heartbeat when Puggles passed. However, we thought we'd wait because we couldn't bring a puppy into our house with Prancer being blind and deaf.
Instead, we got birds. Igor hates Prancer and blows up big to show Prancer how mean he is. Prancer can't hear or see him, so it's pretty funny.
Best of luck with your new fur baby!
That is one cutie pie pug!
As a pug mom of 4 pugs..I agree with some of the others here...Nose rolls are yeast free thanks to a wheat free diet. 2 outta 4 are chicken allergic, most are grain allergic. Toe nail clipping..you would think I was trying to cut off there feet they way they act...same with baths...2 are barkers. All 4 are neurotic in some shape or form.
I would not trade them in for anything. The highlights of pug living...as I am sitting here typing this, 2 of them are snoring soundly..one is worried about me cause he does not like when I am sick, and keeps checking on me...
Be careful...there is one major issue with pugs....They are like potato chips...you can never have just 1
They are SO worth it!Now that DEFINITELY sounds like something that would work. Thanks for sharing! Pugs can have so many issues but they are worth it.
Prancer turned red on her belly and chest. It was inflamed and hot to the touch. About $250 later, we found out she was allergic to many foods and some plants. A change in her diet fixed her issues. If I may ask, in what ways do their allergies show? I've been careful trying to find treats and things that have the fewest extra ingredients that seem like just added junk. What kind of food do you feed them?
