I was warned by someone on this board to make sure we had change for the toll as they were unmanned. Well guess what, when we got to the .50 one we had no change and not a soul in sight. It was a lane for exact change or ezpass, we went to the expass and waited, then just went, we were driving a car from National. Will we get a fine. Thanks and don't forget to have your change.

They will come with A SWAT team to take you away and lock you up for eternity. In reality, your problem is one many of us have faced to which there is no solution but to drive through. There is no chance anything will happen. To appease guilt you might donate a double fare next time.

Don't feel bad I did it twice in March. I was thinking that I would get a bill in the mail. Traceable through the liscence on the rental car but so far.....NOTHING. I honestly don't see how they can fine you when they don't have someone manning the booth to make change for tourists.

Relax- nothing will happen. I just saw a story sbout this on our local news. They will only fine you if you are an habitual offender. They are not going after a once in a life-time mistake.

I thought we might get a huge bill from national. I'm sure they must have cameras there. i deal with Enterprise fleet at work and we always get fines for $10.00 for toll violations on the drivers.

(copied from another post)

Next time leaving WDW use I-4 east (northeast) to 528 (Beeline). All those toll booths have human attendants in some of the lanes.

Hint: Get off Beeline at Exit 9 (Tradesport). Turn left and go under the Beeline using the left lane and there is a good gas station is on the left. Reasonably low prices.

After filling up, don't cross back under the Beeline and get back on it. Instead take McCoy which parallels the Beeline and skips one toll booth you can see. Becomes Frontage Road and about a mile later the next light is Semoran Blvd which is the north entry to the airport.

If your car is photographed running a toll, the rental company reserves the right to charge your credit card for the fine plus an administrative surcharge.

This exact same thing happened to us several years ago. At the time I thought it would have been a good scene for "National Lampoon's Vacation" as Sparky tries to decide what to do! For about 6 months after that, I did kind of wonder what would happen (nothing ever did), then I forgot about it-that was back in 1999. Maybe they'll get us this year!

This exact same thing happened to us! We searched for quarters, even asked our 7 year old son for change in his pockets. But no one had any! This booth is never maned with a live person for those without exact change, I guess. Fearing the results of the camera on our rent-a-car license plate, my husband actually backed up about 300 feet to a ramp to the adjacent highway (on the left). How stupid were we!!

The fine for backing up on a highway is probably much greater than the fine for running a toll!!! Next time I'll make sure we have change with us. Is it really never manned???

DisneyHumBug: Yes, I'm sure the fine for backing up would have been, at minimum, $50. Or, funerals for all four of us would have cost at least $24,000. Plus the damage to the rent-a-car. But, I wasn't driving. I was too busy yelling at the driver (my husband).

The booths didn't look like they were constructed to ever have a live person inside. I'll take a better look next time. I guess we should all add "toll change" to our packing lists!

LOL, Sounds like this happens every day. They are probably used to it. Thanks everyone.

I don't think it is illegal to back up on a ramp to a fork if don't actually go back so far that you reach the superhighway lanes. If you stop before entering the toll booth and get out and tape over the "backup lights" the backing won't be obtrusive and you can bring the car to a halt whenever someone approaches.
