I just can't get over it! We were supposed to go off for four days at Disney just the two of us, but had to cancel at the last minute because our daughter got sick. I'm just so sad about it. We will be going as a family in May, but I was just so looking forward to some time just the two of us, not having to worry about who is tired or hungry or anything. My husband doesn't want to plan another "just us" trip for at least another two years. I can't make him understand that I really needed this so badly. Disney always makes me feel so special and pampered. I know I'm a big old whiny baby, but I'm really having a rough time of it. Do you all understand or do I just need to grow up? How can I make him understand?

I understand. :grouphug: Every couple needs some 'just us' time. I hope he has a change of heart and you get to go away together soon. pixiedust:

Thanks, Jill! It makes me feel better that someone understands. And your John Paul is adorable!!!!!

I am so sorry for you and I do understand. I have not had any time alone with hubby in almost 1 year! :worried:

Get another trip in the planning stages now. And do hope your daughter is feeling better soon.

Oh boy do I understand!
As a matter of fact I've been in a mood about this same thing all day today myself! :worried:

We don't have any plans that got cancelled, but it's just something that we keep talking about doing that never seems to happen, and I really need it to...you know??

We haven't been off alone together in 7 years!

This Oct. will be our 15th anniverary, I'm hoping for then maybe, but who knows.

Hope your DD feels better soon.

Plan a trip ASAP. That is my one biggest regret, that DH and I don't get alone time. We have no one to watch the kids so we have not had but one night alone in almost 20 years. Way to long! Go soon.

I'm sorry your trip got cancelled

If you can't get an alone trip to Disney, do you have anywhere local you can go for the weekend. My DH and I try to go to downtown Chicago every year for an alone weekend and it's great. Hopefully you can do something alone soon.

Take care and sending lots of PD for your DD to get well soon!!! :wizard: :wizard:

I completely understand. Hope your DD feels better soon. We took a four night trip for our first big trip away and I would like to do another (maybe 5 night). Hopefully DH will come around.

2 years??? Why is he thinking of waiting for two years? Doesn't he know a mommy could be off to the funny farm by then??

Seriously, I hope he comes around. DH and I never take alone time. DD is such a easy kid that we don't think we need it but I know deep down we do. Two weeks ago we spent 2 1/2 days in WDW alone and it was wonderful.

Hey, I've even committed to the 1/2 marathon to have some alone time with him. (So maybe I am already on my way to the funny farm!!)

Good luck. For your mental health and your marriage's sake, I hope he comes around to your idea.

Also I hope your DD is feeling better or is better soon!!

Thank you everyone! I feel like such a whiner, but is four days out of the whole year too much to ask!?! Anyway, it doesn't sound like I'm the only one with this problem and I'm trying really hard to make him consider a trip in the fall. (Brier Rose, it's our 15th anniversary this year, too. March 16) As for staying some place near, we love Charleston, but all we keep saying is for one night here we could have had two or three at Pop Century!
As for our daughter, it was a wicked ear infection and we were up all night. I hate that terrible feeling when she is hurting and there's nothing I can do. She's on meds now and doing better. I need a nap!
Thanks again, everyone. I'm trying to snap out of my little Disney depression.

I understand completely!!!!!!!!

Back in 1997, we were having a really hard year with our infertility issues during the summer. I was at home one day, working on the computer, and I had a Disney CD in the stereo. The music from "SpectroMagic" came on, and I just sat in my kitchen bawling like a baby!!!

Hubby came home unexpectedly (he had forgotten something) and caught me, and before I knew it, we were off to WDW, staying at the WL for a lovely long weekend. Got a great airfare and a great hotel rate too! It was like it was meant to be!! We also bought the DVC that weekend, so it ended up being a great trip!!!!!

But I can remember sitting there crying   and so badly wanting to go. It was an awful feeling. :(
