I know exactly what you mean. thats why I avoid going during the summer months.

By the end of the 2nd week of August, the Brazillian tour groups are gone. As are all the families from the Southern U.S. (their schools open by then).

At which WDW becomes wonderful again.

It seems from reading the posts that the tour groups are at WDW mostly in the summer. Does that seem right to everyone else? Like Nik's Mom, I also have a son with autism and cannot imagine getting stuck in an indoor waiting area with the yelling going on. We would have to leave the area. We are going to WDW in December, the week before Christmas. Has anyone else experienced problems with large tour groups in December?

We were there the first week of July and there were many Brazilian tour groups. I was a teen once. It's exciting to be with your friends at such an exciting place. However I was very disappointed with their lack of respect for othere people. My DD4 and I were walking in to see Woody and Jessie. We were the first in the building and as we were almost to them when the tour group literally ripped my daughter away from my hand and plunged in front of us. My DD was scared, she couldn't find me because there was at least 30-40 kids separating me from her. I finally got a hold of her and ended up being almost last in line (when I was originally first.) There was 1 girl in the group that told us to go in front. We got our pictures and autographs and went on our merry way. However, I feel that they were extremely rude. People cut, I understand that. But to be pulled away from your child is uncalled for.

Couldn't agree more. I might be in the minority, but the singing and dancing never really bothers me. Cutting in line and screaming in my ear are two different things. That shows a lack of respect for others. We had a similar experience at BB a few years ago. We were in the lazy river and my youngest son (who was about 7-8) got just a few feet from me as we approached an entrance to the river. A large group of teens piled into the river with their innertubes and pinned my son up against the wall (he didn't have an innertube). You should have seen the young men flying around the lazy river as I threw them out of the way to get to my son.

Have a good time and celebrate all you want (after all, it is the happiest place on earth). Just don't scream in my ear and don't act like you don't speak English as I'm telling you there is no way in heck you're cutting in line and then let me hear you order lunch in decent English.

Blue groups, red groups, yellow groups, and I think there was orange or green. They are brazillian's. They weren't wild... but annoying! We were at Fantasmic waiting for the show, and there they are sitting in the mid section with their own color group and they were shouting non stop!! They finally stopped when the show started. I mean they were "YELLING!!" I have no idea what the heck are they saying...so that is even more annoying! That's disturbance of "peace." I know there's no such thing as being quiet in the parks. BUT they were LOUD!! And who know what they are saying.

Same thing... walking down the streets of MGM and everywhere else...They were "YELLING!!" Why??? You can be proud of your country... but not like that! That's being obnoxious!! You don't see Chinese or Japanese or Indians or any other folks from other countries "YELLING!!" and "SINGING!!" LOUD!

You don't see any Michiganders yelling "GO BLUE!!" or "GO PISTONS!!" Can you imagine every each states yelling their own sports team???
Anyways... We were avoiding them! And we notice some folks were avoiding them too! I don't blame them.

Blah..blah..blah... sorry this thread is looong. I had to vent!

LOL, I did to an Ohio State boy once in Epcot, but he started it! lol I was wearing my Michigan zip up, he mentioned OSU while he walked past me. Then the next day at Animal Kingdom, someone yell GO BLUE at me! lol

I kind of don't blame you for avoiding them. I would have too.

Since I arrive next week, I might just have to put up with some of that crap. Thanks for the warning, I'll make every effort to avoid those idiots.

*fantasia*,

I just wanted to tell you what a striking family you have. Girl, you are beautiful and your kids are two little cuties. Every time I see your photo, I think wow, why can't I look like THAT! I know why, though.........cookies, ice cream, candy...........man, I'm just depressing myself at this point. :teeth:

So, Southern US people are known to chant, yell and cut in lines? I will keep that in mind next time I contemplate visiting Arkansas. :rotfl:

For all I know the Brazillian groups might be singing something to the effect of everybody likes me nobody hates me I'm going to eat some worms or some other dumb campfire song or something like that.

LOL!! :rotfl2: ...and eat some worms!

tarmand and GF Girl for that nice compliments!

I know they're kids... their teenagers. But must they cheer all through out the parks all day?!? They can have fun all they want as long as they don't "disturb the peace" of others. They are competing against the other colors and they probably don't even know them? What it was was CHEERING COMEPTITION. It was more like who can cheer the loudest!

Here is a photo I was talking about. Do you guys notice that most of the folks here are looking to the right (towards the middle of the section)?? And the reason was they were starring at the groups scattered in the middle section because they were LOUD. And most of them were annoyed. Can you imagine sitting next to them?? That would really annoy the heck out of me! :earseek:

This is why I like November and December!!!!! It is pretty bad when my DD who was like 6 at the time noticed how obnoxious they can be!!!!!

Why do a lot of people shout, just when they should be talking?

Didn't SNL have a "loud family" - did you ever notice this at WDW?

It is not only the Brazilian teenagers. That is the reason we have stopped going to the NOJ. Large groups of Church kids un=supervised. One time I was knocked down by a boy running and he kept running and never looked back.

Well, once in a while you do. Around bowl time, espicially if Michigan is playing in one of the Florida bowls, then large groups of Michigan fans (and fans of whatever team they're playing) will be in the parks for vacations. But I'm a Michigan fan, I have nothing against ppl yelling "Go Blue!" ;)

GO BLUE........LOL

We were there in early July (6-20) and the tour groups were much more prevalent than ever. Go early, leave in the afternoon and you are fine. Although they did ruin Philharmagic for some people. Luckily we had seen Phil. 10-12 times before, but for others I felt sorry. The groups were yelling, and screaming throughout it. They would also talk in between scences, it was very bad.

But on another note, I went to Old Navy in Orlando and bought a t-shirt that says BRAZIL on it. It is yellow. My wife said I should wear it on Halloween, carry a flag, and they will also wear yellow shirts and we can be our own little tour group!

My DH and I ran into the "loud tour groups" problem during our honeymoon 9 years ago (late June/early July). Some days it was funny - we'd see how many different colored shirts we could find (39 one day at MK!). What annoyed me was the fact that a handful would be in line and suddenly a bunch more would arrive just as they were up at the front of the line.

I have a Brazilian friend who told me that June & July are HUGE months for them to tour. When she was growing up her mother would do a TON of research before sending any of the children off on a trip to make sure that it was a small number group and that they were calm. She says even the Brazilians are embarassed by the noisy Brazilian groups!

What annoys me locally at our amusement park are the camps that descend. Kids chaperoned pretty much by older kids. It's a terrible mix! I wish they'd assign 2 or 3 days a week for them to be at the park and then let others know to use their discretion when planning to visit. We have annual passes and they often email us if the park will be busy for a large group or conference - it'd be nice if they did the same for the campers!

We've gone during cheerleader time and I've been in line with groups of them chanting and cheering very loudly. It didn't bother me though. They didn't disrupt the ride.

The only time a foreign tour group "runined" a ride experience for us was last summer. Somehow, we got in the middle of a group from Mexico while in line for POC. They didn't bother us, but DD was clinging on to me while we were in line due to all the screaming. We managed to get in a boat ahead of the pack, but they screamed during the whole ride. Of course, we could still hear them. Then they started standing up and taking pictures. Our boat was stopped like 5 times. You'd hear a voice over the intercom, "Please remain seated.", "No flash photography." "This is your last warning." If that were my first time on that ride, I would have been so disappointed. You could not enjoy it at all.

I have 2 questions:

If these groups are so noisy and disruptive (I imagine this must frighten some young children, and certainly offends many other people), why can't the "higher ups" speak with the tour groups about acceptable behavior??? It might not help, buy it couldn't hurt...I'm sure they would still give Disney their business!

What hotels do they usually stay in???? I would hate to be at the same!!!

Fantasia, I guess we were there at the same time. I also reported how annoying the groups were. I agree with everything in your post. Loud...rude...and just plain annoying.

It didn't ruin our trip but it certainly got us irritated at times...especially in line for the rides and at Fantasmic!! I just think it's rude to barge into another country and culture and takeover it like you're on home soil!!!

And we worry about being ugly American's when we travel out of our country!

We also saw alot of the groups last week. We managed to avoid them on all of the rides, but on our Fantasmic night they were extremely loud leading up to the show. We didn't sit near them because we did the Fantasmic package, but you could hear them screaming and chanting as if they were right next to you. My 13 year old son thought that the girls were gorgeous and wasn't annoyed the first time. :rotfl:

I've heard so much about those tour groups. Being the Parent of an autistic child, there is no way would could go while those tour groups are running around. My ds would freak out! When are they usually at WDW?
I'm sad to hear about these groups. My dh and I are hispanic (Mexican-American), and when things like this happen, it could give all hispanics a bad name. :sad2:
Nik's Mom these are Brazilian tour groups for the most part. They are there without parental supervision, only the tour guides. Behavior is pretty obnoxius at times. They are usually there in late June and July. Individually Brazilians are really nice people but not a groups of teens who aren't supervised by parents. But then what group of teens are.
