We don't wanna go home!!! Nov 1-8, 2008 Magic Western

Wow! You have an awesome family. Thanks for sharing your holidays with us! I saw Guitar Hero World Tour - my DS12 got an Xbox360 and Guitar Hero III. I am awesome as long as it is on Easy! Playing it on Hard makes me lose my mind.....and I am a guitar player!

I have never played, I am ashamed to say- I'm more of a singer, so I'll play rock band with them and I LOVE doin' that! Although, now, I could play World Tour the same way. They really don't like the music on it though, so I have to see what's on there-

You're part of the reason I put the Christmas stuff in my report! I really enjoyed reading yours and Kara's Christmas stories.:goodvibes

Sorry to hijack Ellen, but this is what my DH and I were wondering - is Guitar Hero/Rock Band REALLY that much harder for a real guitar player???

OK, back to your TR (which I love btw!) - thanks for letting my sidetrack!

I have been secretly reading your TR and loving every minute of it!! How I miss those 7 glorious days aboard the ship...:sad2:

I also must admit that I thought the monkey was just a cool toy for Paige...now that I know what it is, watch out family, the water squirting is on like Donkey Kong... :lmao:

And this is when I had the BIG discovery of the cruise, in Sessions you get more than just a glass of wine- you get the nice little tray of 3 tastes which are somewhere in that glass you're drinking, and a scroll which when unravelled explains how you might find them. Kind of like a wine treasure hunt. The BEST way to drink wine EVAAARRRRRR!!!! Just in case you missed it earlier in the report...

And the lovely CM, who made it all possible (and who also said, "Why do you want to take MY picture?")...

Ellen - Thanks for these photos. This was our most favorite part of our cruise. Yelena was our favorite person of our whole cruise. She was absolutely the most knowledgeable (sp) person about wine that was on that ship! She made the cruise for us!

I just love your report. Your Christmas looked absolutely awsome! Love the huge tree.

Can't wait to see what you do for. . . . . uhhhhh. . . .Valentine's Day?

love the xmas decor.... and we got world tour also. I agree the songs arent as great as Rockband but in time Im sure it will get better... I HOPE! main reason we got wt is i didnt want to buy more guitars for guitar hero since they do work with rockband.. or so i was told.

ok and you can not finish your trip report.. You took your cruise after mine and im not even done with Grand K... (comeing soon I swear LOL)

See! I KNEW no one knew what that thing was! I should have attached a note- I'm sorry, EDCs!!

I'm so glad you came out of hiding!! I hope other peeps from our cruise do their reports.:thumbsup2 I really want to read them.:yay:

Yelena was so funny- she had the driest sense of humor! we saw her briefly at the martini tasting (I think she was doing the beer or margarita one at the same time, and came in at the end), and I was very happy to meet her again. Hope she's there when I go back, but of course, that's a long ways away.....You are so lucky to have realized what Sessions had to offer right from the get-go, and spend so much time there!

Valentines deco is up, by the way- not quite the same as Christmas, if you know what I mean! i just ran outside to take a couple of pics for you-in the snow, in my slippers, how is THAT for DIS dedication?:rotfl2: Unfortunately, my computer is not reading the card right now, so I'll have to post these show-stopping award winning pics later.:lmao:

OK- so DOES it work?? Because we were told the same thing- which is why Santa brought WT to our house- and, so far, my sons can't get the WT to work with the RB, so Santa is feeling a little bit ripped off. Not to mention that we have gone through 4 nunchuks since Christmas Day and at Nintendo (although they are nice enough to send me a new one) they tell me they have NEVER heard this before...gimme a break!

And I might not finish before I go to St John one week from TODAY!!!!:yay: :yay: :dance3: :woohoo: :woohoo: So you will have that window to catch up- I expect GREAT and AMAZING things from you, DREA!!!! But really, nothing was funnier than your turtle tour '08. Can't imagine how you'll top it, but I know you will, girlfriend!:rotfl: :thumbsup2

I forgot to post this when I was talking about Thursday, the second sea day, and the almost last day, a few posts ago. When we were in the cabin at night, just DS11 and I, he had that dreaded moment. You know...if you've been on this cruise, unless you were smart enough to double dip, you ALL know this moment. It's the moment on Thursday night (and I'm sure YOU have been thinking this all day) when DS11 (or 12, or 6) comes into the cabin and says,

"What DAY is this?"

And then you deliver the worst, worst news in the world...

"It's Thursday."

And you can almost hear the thud and crash of your DSwhatever's hopes and dreams- the cruise will Definitely be coming to a close, we will have to get off, paradise is not forever. This happened with my DS11 on Thursday night. You should know, my DS11, is a great kid- and he is a quiet kid. An outburst of extreme emotion happens very seldom- so THIS meant a LOT to him. And he cried for 10 minutes, saying, "It can't be almost over!!! We just got here!!! Why does time go so fast on the Disney Magic?!!! I thought I got 7 sleeps here and I've only had 5!!!!!!

Apparently, I have created a Disney Cruise Ship Lovin Monster............

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My kids love the cruise so much that they feel it can't ever end but my favorite moment of all 7 cruises is when my DS(then 16) who is HF autistic had a huge breakdown on cruise 5 the last night. He couldn't deal with the cruise being over because it was the only place other than home "he felt normal". DCL does any amazing job of making the young and older, different and same, feel like they are in an amazing place. My kids dread getting off and they are all now teens.

I hope you have an amazing time in St.John look forward to hearing about that trip and the end of the cruise.

Subbing! I have spent all day reading your TR- WOW!! is all I can say!

I would have the best time traveling with you!

You have totally made me decide on a Disney Cruise for my 40th!- just 13 short months away:scared1: :sad2: :guilty:

Hiccup! We were pretty happy rollin' out of Palo's that night!!

... and headed out to continue the fun! In the hallway!

On the shelves!

By the sign!

In the bathroom!

What?!!! The BATHROOM? But come on! It's so pretty!!
:rotfl2: These phrases reminded me of reading a fortune cookie, and then saying, "in bed" after it! :lmao: You are so funny!

So we were free to continue our adult craziness! To Sessions!!

Where's my hubby?:lmao: :lmao:

2008_110906summer0052.jpg

When I saw the pic of the choir, I thought you were going to say you found him in the choir line-up! :rotfl2:

Hey honey, I just clicked to read your last page of your TR, since I am so behind on mine and yours, and was scrolling down admiring your pornography, er, photography in the first picture of Palo! :lmao: Seriously, if you only scroll down a little bit, all you see is cleavage, and you're like WHOA! ;)

Love the pics of the loo baby. Don't you just love the Palo bathroom? I think the full doors into each "toilet room" are quite peaceful and private too!

This is maybe why I didn't get to see you so much on the cruise, you were too busy hanging out in the bathrooms taking pictures! :rotfl2:

I'll try to catch up on my deliquencies soon. Mea culpas!

IKWYM I remember being in the bathroom on deck 4 near the double doors out to the comfy chairs, and thinking, "I wish I had my camera in here!"
Everything is so beautiful on the Magic!:thumbsup2

Loved your Palo night, Ellen! We so have to do that next time!
I just saw a piece on St. John's Bay for top 10 Caribbean resorts on TC! You must be getting SO excited!!!!

WOW! How awesome! Disney and the WHO! Maybe we could get the boys to play on a Disney Cruise! I have had a crush on Roger for 20+ years! :) Thank you for sharing! :)

Apparently, I have created a Disney Cruise Ship Lovin Monster............

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have taught your son very well!

Thanks for such a great TR! It brings back so many wonderful memories.

Thank goodness someone finally took rest room photos! Some restrooms, especially Palo, are quite nice. I believe you have finally conquered that last area of the ship that was not photographed. Well done!

"What DAY is this?"

I know exactly what you and he mean... that was ... ME lol

Oh and sorry I meant CANT... the rockband and guitar hero guitars dont work together. (really need to slow down in my typing LOL) didnt mean to get your hopes up there. We did have a mishapp also. Our 1st drum set the yellow cymbol stopped working, and now the boys think the orange isnt.. A friend told me hers did the same.. GREAT, so keep an eye on that incase!

Does anyone have the correct spelling of Yolandi's last name? I know it is not Davies but I tried it any way and a Christmas card we sent her came back.
I cant find my gratuities stubs.

It's "Afonso".

Ours must have all made it as none of them came back...I was really worried about some of the cards that we sent to castmembers we only knew first names for...like Paige's new boyfriends Ponz and Oscar...:goodvibes

Thanks for sharing about your HFA son- I sooooo wish I could bring my DS14 onboard- but I'm afraid to risk it, because he is not HF and very unpredictable. I LOVE that your son told you he "felt normal" on the cruise- I think you should move on board!:thumbsup2

Ahhh..40 is not so bad...it's all the numbers AFTER 40 that really stink!:rotfl:
Thanks for liking my TR- what a wonderful compliment to say you would have the best time traveling with me!:yay: So come on the 10/30/10 cruise!!

OMG, that line about finding DH in the choir line up made me laugh so hard!! Wouldn't THAT have been a great post!:rotfl2:

St John is amazingly beautiful- and soooooooooooooooooo laid back. You could seriously go there for a month with nothing but your flip flops and a bathing suit and shorts/tshirt. And a GINORMOUS wad of cash!:lmao:

WOW! How awesome! Disney and the WHO! Maybe we could get the boys to play on a Disney Cruise! I have had a crush on Roger for 20+ years! :) Thank you for sharing! :)

Yea- now THAT would be some great entertainment!! I've loved the Who since I was 11!:scared1: I met some of them when I was a teenager- even kissed John Entwistle...many, many , many years ago! I have an old boyfriend who actually KNOWS them- can you imagine?:worship:

You have taught your son very well!

Now, see, this is so funny to me. Because while I was taking these photos, I was thinking, here's something I've never seen on the Dis!:rotfl2: I'll have to post them on the cruise photos thread when I get a chance.:rotfl:

This makes me CRAZY!!! They told me at Game Stop that WT instruments DID work with RB- but the guy was wrong. Thanks for the heads-up on the cymbals-I'll warn the boys. They broke the outer drums on RB, I need to contact the manufacturer to get them replaced- because they should NOT have broken off the way they did.

I never thought to send them Christmas cards!! DUH!!! What is the address? What a lovely idea!!

We woke up on Friday morning looking forward to the most amazing day- the day we were to spend in Castaway Cay. I just knew this was going to be spectacular, because I know when I've been on other cruise lines, the day on the private island is the BEST day, and I was pretty sure DCL would be topping my previous experiences.

2008_110906summer0061.jpg

2008_110906summer0062.jpg

While the ship docked, and they prepared the island for all of the Magic's passengers, we were waiting for breakfast in our cabin. The REAS package includes a full room service breakfast one morning of the cruise, rather than just the continental breakfast fare usually offered to you from room service (unless you are in a suite- then you get this everyday, if you want it!). Because I kept on forgetting to put my order card out at night, we were having it today (I had meant to order it for Thursday- oops!).

2008_110906summer0063.jpg

Now, when you order room service, for something like, say, cookies, you order how many cookies you want -like, I'll have 2 chocolate chips and 2 oatmeal. So when I was ordering this breakfast, I thought it was the same way, for pancakes and eggs- Oh boy. I forgot to order toast, so they were calling and asking if we wanted toast for the eggs. And then they called once or twice to apologize for the wait- that's ok, didn't they hear about our night last night? Yeesh- we don't mind having extra time to lounge around this morning, LOL! And then, the 2 or 3 servers knocked at the door. HOLY! I had ordered like 15 plates of food!!!:rotfl2: It just kept coming and coming!!! And I just kept apologizing and apologizing! And DH just kept shaking his head and shaking his head at me! They asked if we wanted them to take some back- well, there IS only so much room in the cabin for the food, so back some of the plates went, and we were left with-

Next it's the day we've been waiting for- Castaway Cay!:beach:

I am late to join in - but I wanted to say what a great trip report! We are going on the Western this September!

Kelly

We finished our 22 eggs over easy and headed out to begin our day on CC a little later than many others (but not too too late!). We left the cabin, went down some stairs, around a hallway, through a gallery, under an overpass, clicked our heels three times and said "There's no place like CC" and voila! We disembarked! (Ok maybe that last part is made up, but really! Does anyone else out there think "WHERE'S THE DAMN CHEESE ALREADY?!!!" when trying to find the exit?) Since we were on the opposite side of the ship, we were happy to finally be able to see this once we had hit the terra firma-

2008_110906summer0070.jpg

How amazing is THAT??!!! Now, the bad thing about getting off a little later than the others is that all of the hammocks are spoken for, and you will have to walk down much farther to find a seat on the beach. The good news? You'll have this guy almost all to yourself!

2008_110906summer0071.jpg

IMG_0003.jpg

Don't forget your shades- that sun is BRIGHT!!! You'll also only have a short wait for my personal hero, Goofy, over at Mt Rushmore-

2008_110906summer0072.jpg

Yea, I don't care about a hammock- I'm here for the STARS!!! Anyway, we found some seats over by the rope whatchamacallit-

2008_110906summer0073.jpg

where the boys spent the morning going this far before they fell off, over and over again! That's DS11-

2008_110906summer0078.jpg

The only excursion we had signed on for was the Castaway Getaway Package, which included rafts or tubes, snorkel gear and bikes for all of us. Looking back now? I would just decide what I wanted of this stuff when I got there (but it's soooo hard NOT to sign up when you're sitting at your computer 105 days out, clicking on activities...). Anyway, we were not terribly far from the rafts and bikes, so I went to get some rafts for us. Why didn't I make DH be the pack mule for this job?:confused3 Well, as we learned before, I am too stupid to live!!:rotfl2: So I dragged all the rafts/floats back myself.

2008_110906summer0081.jpg

2008_110906summer0075.jpg

2008_110906summer0076.jpg

I sat down for about 30 seconds (wow, was that a relaxing, rejuvenating half minute!!) then stood up and announced I would be going to buy postcards now. I also wanted a pin. I was very antsy! So I went to the store- picked out a nice new towel, and chose between the 3 choices for a postcard.:confused3 Isn't that kind of surprising? I had waited to buy postcards on CC because I thought they would have some really cool ones to choose from. Let me tell ya, they don't. Buy your postcards and write them out before you get to CC, and mail them as you walk by the post office which is waaaaayyyyy baaaaaaack by the ship. Anyway, I made my purchase and sat on the beach to write out a few cards. On the way there, I passed the barbque which was almost set up-

2008_110906summer0079.jpg

2008_110906summer0083.jpg

After a bit, DS9 was hungry (how can that be???? You just ate 22 eggs!!!!) so he and I went to Cookies for lunch-

2008_110906summer0084.jpg

Here's my mahi sandwich, chicken and some salads, which I didn't eat much of...because I ate 22 EGGS for breakfast what felt like 10 minutes ago!

2008_110906summer0085.jpg

2008_110906summer0086.jpg

Back to the beach, where DS11 & DH were getting ready to go for lunch. DS9 went back in the water-

2008_110906summer0088.jpg

And then i asked him if he wanted to come with me to mail the postcards. So, rather than walk, we thought it would be nice to ride the tram. Too bad we got on the wrong one, going in the opposite direction! Really, where was my brain today??? Oh, that's right- I must have left it in the Palo loo the night before when I picked up something ELSE for brains, if you get my drift!:lmao: Well, from the tram, we did see LBIgirl67 and her family on a bike ride, and we waved to them, but I think they were confused by my hat- all except for their DS14, who waved to me before I waved- NICE!:goodvibes So we got back to our starting point, and I still had postcards to mail. I decided I'd walk it, and leave DS9 with DH. There was lots to look at of course, on the way...

2008_110906summer0096.jpg

There was only one problem with this walk- lets see.....wet...thighs...walking....OUCH!!!!!!!!! I'm sure you know what I mean. If you don't, you're sooooo lucky to be clueless!!!

Anyway, the post office had some very nice people all sitting outside of it, along with Brent, the Cruise Director, who was calling all around trying to find someone to work there. See, it's run not by Disney, it's run by the Bahamas gov't. It's their post office. So, they are on Island time. Meaning, it could be a 1 hour lunch break, or it could be a 4 hour lunch break, I guess. Fortunately, today lunch ended in an hour, and before long I was sending some mail. That was really the only opportunity I had to speak to Brent- he was really a sweetie, wish I had gotten to know him better!

I walked back to my lounge chair (OUCH!!!!!!) and took a bit of a break before we all went snorkeling...
