We are going to be the 1st family of this years CNE!!!

We are on !!! We won a contest that was running in the Toronto Sun newspaper to be the first family into the CNE this year. We ride a float in the opening parade, cut the red ribbon on the Princess Gates and then attend the opening ceremonies where we are given our grand prize of round trip tickets for 4 on WestJet to Vancouver(plus hotel and food vouchers). I am freaking out!!! My kids are practicing their royal waves for the parade, what a hoot.We attend this friday Aug 19th.

We had a blast! It was pretty scary with the weather late in the afternoon but we headed indoors to the interactive sports attraction where my kids got into a little floor hockey game to wait out the storm! All in all, we had a much better time than we thought we would, even though my dd(8) had a slight melt down at the beginning of the day because she wasn't tall enough to cut the red ribbon and my dh was asked by the officials to do it. I tried my best before hand to explain that we may not be able to choose who does it etc. but she had her mind set on it and when she didn't do it, the tears started rolling down her face. She is a pretty good kid, but I think the excitment (plus all the media) was a little overwhelming for her. We ended up staying from 10 am-ish till 10 pm and we were beat by the end of it all. Thanks for all your kind words for our winning, we had a great time.
