We are back and

Had a wonderful time at CBR.. thanks to everyone for all their help and support.
But you are all now stuck with me longer because surprise I walked into a theme park and I’m walked out with a mortgage and DVC membership so I’ve got lots to learn and more trips to plan.
Welcome Home.....
There is a great DVC forum on here
.but big question where is home resort

Congratulations TammyLynn33. I've often thought about doing that as well but I haven't pulled the plug on it just yet. Tell us all about your trip between loads of laundry.

We bought the new one. Can I pick your brain on resells someday ? Ideally I’d like 10-25 more

Ask all you want mine are resale too. If you pm me i have other info too.

Hi Hon

Now you just settle down and be happy --no "addontis" for you just yet young lady ..lol.
Sure anytime you are looking for resale or add on info lots of us here on the Canadian forums have info we can share--also I see Mort has offered and he has a great base knowledge of resale DVC.
Riviera looks like a beautiful resort,,and having the Gondolas for transportation is great option.
I had considered it when I was buying an add on in feb/March but I am a bit fickle at times and was unsure about the resale restrictions affecting the resale value of Riviera down the road. I know most people buying in are hoping to use it for the long term and the contract end date is good.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Welcome Home Hon!
Hugs
Mel

Thanks guys. I honestly feel like I know nothing. And I looked around the outside boards and find them a little more un judgemental “we would never buy” this and that kinda stuff which is scaring me .. ha ha
I will def take you guys up and PM you.

Glad to hear you had a great time! It's easy to get caught up in the magic while you're there, and that's what those DVC reps count on to make a sale. Take some time to look at what you purchased, if you have enough points for the size of suite you need and the time of year you'll be travelling. As bubabear pointed out there is a 10 day cancellation period. You mention you came back with a mortgage - I hope they didn't take advantage and get you to purchase more than you could afford. If at some point in time you decide you don't want those points, it may be difficult to resell as anyone who purchases Riviera resale can only use at that resort.

I've been researching DVC for a while now, not sure yet if it's the right choice for us or not, but if we go that route it will be resale first at one of the resorts that were built before Riviera. But if you purchased not knowing anything about it, you can always cancel (the rep will be happy to sell it to you again later if you change your mind...) and take your time to decide what's right for your family.

TUG is a good resource as well to help you decide if DVC or any timeshare is a good plan for you.

I keep hoping the dollar will get better so we could purchase, but who knows when that will happen!

No no all good no regrets just wasn’t planning on have no info whatsoever. Am not worried about resale as I plan on passing down to kids. It was right for us we travel a lot off to Cali in August and back to Fla in November. It looks like it will work for us ( plus divorce settlement of 8 Marriott nights a year lol )
Yes a mortgage/loan single mom to 4 not too sure how many of those have extra thousands laying around ha ha but the monthly payments are do-able and will prob save us long run. I think I’ll obviously watch exchange rate and pay chunks off it when the exchange rate gets better..
17 year old agreed to help pay monthly dues and he knows once the kiddos take it over the dues are theirs so all good..:)
I just am starting to learn about benefits etc where when to use and it’s frankly overwhelming as I’ve never looked at these before.
All good thank you deep heartedly for your concern.

Did you finance through Disney?

If so Talk to your bank and see what rate they will offer you. There’s no penalty for paying off your Disney loan in full early and if I remember correctly Disney finance rates are 10%+.

We financed through Disney back in 2011 as we bought on a cruise. As soon as we got home we got a loan from the bank and paid Disney in full. Our interest rate dropped from 10ish % to 5ish %.

Great response and advice. Plus it puts your payments in Can funds so you dont have to worry about fluctuation. Except for MFs

Hey Mort
Great suggestion,,paying the exchange rate and in USD is rough.

PS
I was just wondering do you know if you can pay your maintenance fees using Disney Gift cards?

Yes there is lots of people who do this. Most who have target red cards and double up on savings for GC. No limit on the amount of cards you use. Now cannot be used monthly like what i do. It has to be the full amount payed at start of year. But could be part GC part cash.

Good to know ,,I might just start throwing a GC in with my groceries once in awhile.
Thanks

Disney's finance rate right now is 12.5%. You should at least try and get a loan/line of credit to cover the cost as that's a pretty high rate. I have a credit card with a lower interest rate than that.
