The Cast:
Me (Im not telling my age): Chief decision maker, planner and organiser extraordinaire
Darren (39): Mr. Grumpy, Marathon Man and Map Reader
Mollie (10): Jekyll & Hyde pre-teen and big girls blouse
Kirsty (4): Scaredy Cat and Drama Queen
Even though I spent most of the night awake worrying Im still the first one up so I decide not to let them sleep any longer (cruel, me! No!). Kirsty held on to all that food she scoffed last night youll be pleased to know and she woke up this morning chirpy and cheerful! Tonight we have MNSSHP so the plan originally was to just have a lazy day but we opt for going to a park instead, even if its only for a little while. As I am chief decision maker I choose MGM (ToT/RnR here I come!).
No-one is in the mood for any breakfast just yet so we make our way straight to the park and arrive for opening. After last time we have it sussed that in this park timing is everything and you need to plan more meticulously exactly what you want to see more so than any of the other parks so we pick up the map and the show timetable and plan our day. First stop however is FP for ToT and RnR, I have to do them again, really I just have to! its a compulsion! With these safely in my pocket we head round to catch Indiana Jones. We pick up some fruit from a stall, well I mean we buy it we dont just pick it up, which will suffice for breakfast. This is the first time weve seen Indiana Jones and it was very good. It was made more amusing when Kirsty kept shouting watch out! Kirsty gets very involved, shes the kid at the movies jumping up and down trying to warn the good guys to watch out or screaming at the bad guys dont you dare do that!
Darren then went on Star Tours as there was no queue, the girls didnt want to do this so he was on his own. Next up was time for my FP. Darren and the girls joined the queue for Beauty and the Beast while I went and had my adrenaline buzz, first on ToT followed straight after by RnR. I just love MGM now Ive discovered these two! By the time Ive finished the queue for Beauty and the Beast has actually gone in to the theatre but luckily I still manage to get in and join them. Once again a very enjoyable show and the girls loved it, especially Mollie as B&B has always been her favourite although she did complain that the Prince wasnt very good looking, have to agree that he did appeal more as the Beast!
By this time were all quite hungry so decide to stop for lunch. Having eaten at H&V for the FDP we want to try somewhere else. Having read on the boards that 50s Prime Time is a fun place we try there and fortunately we can have a table in 15 minutes. The food was good and plentiful which was lucky as Kirsty being back to normal needed to stuff her little face and she sure did. Unfortunately our server was too young to make it fun by telling us adults off but then again with Kirsty around we dont need anyone else telling us elbows off the table or dont eat with your mouth full this is what happens when you leave your MIL looking after the children!
So with tummies now well and truly full, next up is WWTBAM, again another first. I think this is very cleverly done and again we really enjoyed it. I own up to cheating however on some of the American questions by copying my neighbour who was about 10 but I figured he would still know more than I did. Its hot now and I opt for going back for a swim and a rest before the nights activities but Mollie wants to do Little Mermaid and Kirsty wants to do Playhouse Disney, guess who wins? We have now discovered that MGM has something for everyone in our little group. Afterwards we get some pictures taken with Woody and Buzz and then its home.
There isnt really time for a swim now so we have a little rest in our room before getting into costume for MNSSHP. Kirsty is Cinderella, Mollie is Belle, Darren is a clown, I mean dressed as a clown but hey if the shoe fits, and Im, well I dont know exactly, I wasnt really in the mood the day we bought the costumes and ended up just buying some sort of black dress so Im going to pretend Im a witch (my children tell me I dont have to pretend too hard) and people will just have to use their imaginations.
Just getting off the monorail and seeing all those kids dressed up in their costumes is worth the price of the ticket to MNSSHP alone. Some of them look so great. Anyway we collect our trick or treat bags and head on in. Main Street looks very spooktacular (get it? never mind just my attempt at humour!). We are in no rush to do any rides as tonight is more about enjoying all the sights and sounds and the fun so we just hang around Main Street for a little while soaking up the atmosphere and people watching. MK is really something else at night time and as we stroll down towards the castle it looks fantastic.
We head straight for Fantasyland, the girls being the wimps they are this has their favourite rides, and do the carousel, Dumbo, snow white and Mickeys philharmagic. Next they want to do Winnie the Pooh so thats where we are heading when we come across seven little men standing in the middle of the street and one of them looks very familiar! yes its Darren and his mates! ooops my mistake its the real Mr. Grumpy and the other six dwarfs. We join the queue and get a terrific picture of the girls with them.
After Winnie the Pooh we do the Teacups and then head round to Toontown. We give Mickey and Minnies house a miss not just because weve been inside already but because there are just too many people trying to get in and out. Instead we go on Goofys Barnstormer not once or even twice but thrice!!! The girls sure love their baby wollertoasters, roll on the time when they have enough guts to do the real thing! As we are heading out of Toontown I allow the girls to have one of the many, many sweets they have in their bags from trick or treating. Kirsty obviously made the wrong choice because no sooner was the sweet in her mouth than it came flying straight back out again, projectile style, followed by a YUCK!, you dont like that I take it? its Asgusting I was reliably informed. Anyway I stop to make her pick it up and go put it in the bin (where does she get her manners?) and by the time weve caught up with Darren and Mollie they are chatting with a CM who is looking after a hat stall. When she spotted Mollie in her Belle dress she called her over to show her a Beauty and the Beast pin and told her if she could guess which hand it was in she could have it. Mollie choose the wrong hand but she just shrugged nonchalantly and took the defeat very well so well in fact that the CM let her have the pin anyway, how nice was that!
Its time for the parade soon and we are all a bit hungry so we walk round to Pecos Bill. Great burger and even better fixings, I almost put my jaw out trying to eat the thing. We sit and eat while waiting for the parade. The headless horseman is terrific. After this we went into Goofys Jungle Jamming (I think this is what its called, its the new show with Goofy and friends that includes the Toystory characters). Kirsty really enjoyed this but Mollie was in one of her Im too grown up for this moods. We then watched the fireworks, what else can you say about these other than amazing!
Somehow we have fit all this in along with all the trick or treat stops, not to mention the numerous character stops as well, phew its been an eventful evening but now we are beginning to feel it so we agree to do buzz and then head home. Much to Darrens disgust I beat his score!!!! He claims his gun wasnt working properly but me things the man doth protest too much, ha! I won! I won!
We leave the park with sore feet, bulging bags full of additives and E numbers (sorry sweets) and big smiles. It has once again been a terrific MNSSHP!
