wdwgirl and Dad do Disney:an April '10 PTR...TR LINK ADDED!! p. 56

Mickey Mail means you're almost there :yay:

I like the idea of the Rock n Roller Coaster queue picture, it's definitely very unique!

Okay! I finally read everythinig and am officially caught up.

I loved the old pics of yall at the Poly. Too cute!

As always, your top ten lists are awesome! A lot of the restaurants and resorts you listed are our favorites as well.

I kinda stay away from MS as well. I hate having the feeling of being sick all day. I don't know yet how I'll react, so I kinda don't want to test it.

YAY for being less than 40 days now. I can't wait till I can say the same thing.

It's such a great idea to have a photo scavenger hunt! What a great idea!

BTW, I am so looking forward to getting my DVC button as well!

I love your picture scavenger hunt idea! Very clever. :thumbsup2 One thing that I wanted to get, but failed to do so, this past trip was a picture of something reflecting one of the park icons. For example, I saw a picture once of a pair of sunglasses on a souvenir cart that reflected the DHS hat. It was very cool. Might be hard to find though!

And :yay::yay::yay: for Mickey Mail, that means you are SO CLOSE!!!

I'd love to see the Rock 'n Rollercoaster queue since I don't plan on ever going on it! I think the limo look for the ride vehicles is so cool! I want to get ride vehicles in pictures, hopefully empty ones. I think they're so creative with even that, especially Peter Pan!

haha, well you could go in and then go out the chicken exit. It's quite fun seeing the limos take off...;)

Ride vehicles is another good idea. I like the Peter Pan ships too.

Great idea for the picture scavenger hunt. I have one to add: Luxo the lamp at Hollywood Studios. I saw him for the first time on my trip last week!

It's so exciting when the ME booklet comes. It means your trip is that much closer! If yours have come, that means mine aren't far behind!!!!!! YAY!

Yeah, I think I first read about Luxo in tinkgurl's TR and then when my parents and sister were just there they saw him.

It is definitely exciting getting the ME stuff! :cool2:

:banana::banana::banana: I love Mickey Mail!

I like the ride queue idea for your scavenger hunt too.

Me too! :yay:

I know, I was looking through the booklet today and got really excited for some reason. LOL.

Glad you liked the old pictures and my Top Ten lists.

That's kind of why I'm afraid of MS...I don't know how I'll react. :confused3

You'll be saying less than 40 days soon. :thumbsup2

I know, my dad and I can't wait! :yay::woohoo:

Awesome Sarah that you got your Magical Express packet!!!:cool1::cool1:

LOVE the picture hunt too, what a great idea!! I should make a list similar to that because in my head I have a few great ideas of where and of what to take pics of but I may forget when we are there, I am going to write it down! Thanks for the tip!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Oh, and the Tinkerbell notebook is so cute, and for a buck can't go wrong! I need to check out Micheal's dollar section, I haven't been there since before Christmas!!

It's so awesome! Can't believe we're getting so close.:eek:

Ooh, I'd like to hear your ideas if you make a list too. Like I said I'm still trying to come up with some more ideas myself.

Michael's is awesome and they have some neat stuff. I also got a pack of Disney princess pens for $1. :thumbsup2

Well, is anyone else depressed the Olympics are over already?! Seriously, I feel like they JUST started. Now I am going to start going through Olympic withdrawl. Watching the Closing Ceremony last night I was thinking there are a lot of similarities between the Olympics and Disney World...all the excitement leading up to and during them, the spectacle, dreams coming true,...LOL. And then I can't remember if it was Bob Costas or the other person who was doing the commentary, but one of them said something about Vancouver going back to "real life" today. I think that about sums it up too. Ahhh I love the Olympics! I really want to go to them sometime to see them in person...anybody want to donate to the "get Sarah to London in 2012" fund? haha

I know this is off topic but here are some of my favorite moments from these Winter Games (in no specific order):

1.) the whales at the Opening Ceremony...for some reason that image really sticks in my head. That was just cool and they looked so realistic!

2.) Evan Lysacek winning the gold medal in men's figure skating. Could've done without all the drama from the Russian skater though. :confused3

3.) Shaun White...HOLY COW his performance was amazing! Watching the women's snowboarding competition after him (and all the men for that matter) was just a letdown.

4.) Ice Dancing. I've always liked the figure skating but never really cared much for the ice dancing competition. Maybe it was because the US had some competitive pairs but it was really interesting to watch.

5.) Bode Miller...after doing so bad in 2006 it was awesome that he got 3 medals in these games. :thumbsup2

6.) The US beating Canada in hockey. It's too bad they couldn't pull it out yesterday :sad2: but it was exciting last weekend when they won. And let me say I'm not even really a hockey fan.

7.) The "Made in Canada" segment at the closing ceremony. That was really cute with all the icons of Canadian culture. And Michael Buble did a good job too...I liked his jazzed up version of that "Maple Leaf Forever" song (to my couple of Canadian readers, is that a real song?!)

What were your favorite Olympic moments?

And like I said when the Games started, we're now at 36 days until Disney World!!!

36 Days! :dance3: AND it's March--so now you can say "next month"

I'm going to miss the Olympics, too, but we did not watch Closing Ceremonies...what did they do?

Love you picture hunt idea...it's always cool getting new pictures or pictures of things from a different perspective.

Congrats on your special Mail! Exciting! :goodvibes

36 days! :woohoo: You're getting close! I know you're excited.

I loved the ice dancing too---but thought the Canadian figure skater, whose mother had just died, was one of the most touching moments for me. She finished that short program that night, and you could just see her crumble. I don't know how anyone with a heart, could not have been moved that night.

:wave2:

Favorite Gold Medal Moment-Shawn White-
he was just a little ole thing,
when he started competition at the X-games in Colorado.

Checked into Beach Club on the 26th-
was asked if I was a DVC member-(new buttons).
The CM was so flustered that I wasn't
she forgot to give me my room key.
Should of lied and said yes, but it's Lent -and I didn't want it on my conscious.
I was sweating buckets, after I ran
back to the front desk to get my keys.
They actually had the heat cranked up and the air off in every room.
My room was ready at 8:30 in the morning-
and I got a room upgrade-:yay:

I know where the Princess and the Frog is.
They had it all hidden and surrounded by evergreen bushes.
But we took a ride on the mono-rail between Epcot-MK
and the mono-rail went right over it.
3 areas where hidden, and the butterfly tent was closed too.
Everything opens up March 3.

Next month!!

I didn't watch the Olympics that much but I was SUPER disappointed yesterday that USA lost to Canada in hockey especially after such a great game! We're big hockey fans in my house. I didn't see Shaun White win but I'm going to youtube or google it right now to see how awesome he was :thumbsup2

I didn't really watch the games, but here are the 2 things I actually saw and remember from the 2010 Olympics!

(1) I learned what curling is! Haha, I kept seeing it on people's Facebook statuses, so I YouTubed it to see what it was. Haha, I found it so interesting, especially when the people keep screaming with such aggression! Yesterday Weird came over and we watched a bunch of curling videos on YouTube. Haha, very entertaining.

(2) I watched this interview with Apolo Ohno and his father, and afterwards, the commentators were saying that he'd probably win gold the next day. I remember Apolo from when I was in HS because my friend Jen was obsessed with him. He ended up almost slipping or something in the race, and he actually came in 3rd instead of 1st. I was rooting for him to win gold, of course, but I think his getting the bronze just ... I don't know, it made him human? I mean, they showed him and then showed his father watching, and even though he became the most decorated Winter Olympian, I still think it just ... I don't know, somehow teaches people a lesson. Maybe something about how you can try your best, but it really doesn't guarantee the outcome you want. Or even being grateful for placing 3rd instead of not at all. I don't know, haha, I'm sure there could be something a lot deeper than what I just wrote.

I started counting work days instead of actual days. Haha, as I was filling out my grade book with the dates for March, I counted 23 days of work!

I feel your pain about the Olympics. All of a sudden, there's no sports to watch!

To answer your question, yes "The Maple Leaf Forever" is a real song. It used to be an unofficial national anthem during Canada's Confederation. It went up against other unofficial anthems that were being used in the early 1900s until "O Canada" finally became the most widely accepted. Personally, I liked "The Maple Leaf Forever" over "O Canada" but who am I to go against Canada's parliament

My favourite moments during the Olympics was:

1. Bilodeau earning Canada's first gold medal on home soil

2. Canada winning the Men's Hockey Final (and the celebration afterwards) I wish Crosby hadn't scored the winning goal though. It just boosts his ego that much more

3. The opening ceremonies

4. Watching Canada win the gold in Figure skating when I was in Disney

5. I learned how curling works! One of the more silly sports if you ask me but still entertaining to watch

36 days?!?!? that's crazy! You must be getting soo antsy! haha! I was feeling the same way about the olympics! I thought I was the only one. I'm so sad it's over. I love your top things. Some are my favorites also! Can't wait for the next games!

I know, woo hoo! Can't wait till it's THIS month.

I didn't see all of the Closing Ceremony but I guess they had some different performers from Canada. Then they had a preview for the Sochi games in 2014, did the usual declaring the games closed/extinguishing the flame :sad2: (that always bums me out) and then they ended with some more performers.

It seems a lot of people like the picture hunt idea! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I don't know how she was able to skate...even at the end of the champions gala she looked so sad. :sad1:

I have to ask, did you happen to see the new DVC buttons at all? If you did what did they look like? I've been trying to find pictures but haven't had any luck so far.

Congrats on the room upgrade, that is exciting. :yay: I love the Beach Club.

I'm so excited to see all the F&GF displays.

Next month!!

Did you find a video of his performance? Geez, just the height he got was CRAZY! :scared1:

haha yeah, curling was pretty interesting! I am still really confused as to how it all works but I was kind of getting into it when my dad had it on. I liked when they'd get ready to throw the stone (or whatever the proper term is) and they's slide across the ice. I want to do that. LOL.

Apolo Ohno is awesome too. I wish he could've won a gold but 3 more medals is not bad. :thumbsup2

Woo hoo for only 23 more work days!

I feel your pain about the Olympics. All of a sudden, there's no sports to watch!

Ahh, thanks for clearing that up. I kind of figured it was a real song...I had it stuck in my head afterwards, atleast the line "Maple Leaf Forever!" haha

I am so bad, what sport was Bilodeau in? I suppose I could just look it up.

ETA: OK, nevermind, just looked it up he was in the moguls. I was on the right track thinking he was a skiier! Now that you mention him I remember watching him.

The opening ceremony was pretty awesome.

I am definitely getting antsy, I just want to go now! Glad I'm not the only one who's bummed about the Olympics being over. I wish another US city would win a bid so it'd be easier to go.

No, I didn't see the buttons,
but I'm sure they look like the Birthday, Anniversary, buttons, etc.

I was standing in line to watch The Great Movie Ride, and someone asked me,
"what is with the buttons,"
"can you only get them if you are staying at a WDW resort?
I said yes, completely forgetting that you can get them at guest service.

I couldn't wait to get to The Canadian Pavilion to see if they had some Olympic sweatshirts or t-shirts. I saw many people walking around wearing them. But they didn't. I like the white sweatshirt with the red maple leaf. A couple was behind me in Soarin, and they had red sweatshirts on, with Canada Olympics printed on the back, they were cool too.

I'm missing the Olympics too. Luckily we DVR'ed Shaun White and some of the figure skating. I can go back and watch until I get tired of it.

You are getting so close to your trip now! You are the point where I start to second guess my plans.

Congrats on 35 days!!! :woohoo::woohoo:

Your trip is coming up so fast! :woohoo:

I'm going to miss the Olympics. I was very upset though when NBC didn't show the whole closing ceremonies. Did they do that to anyone else? I heard there were other performances but at 10pm they went right into that new "The Marriage Ref" show. I was so upset

I could watch Apolo Ono all the time. He is so humble and fabulous. I loved how after every race, he made sure to go shake hands with the winners. So kind.

Shawn White...insane! He didn't even have to do that 2nd run and he still pulled off some incredible height!

The USA/Canada hockey game was awesome and I'm not even a hockey fan. I just wish the US team didn't sulk afterwards. They didn't even appreciate their silver :sad2:

Yeah, I'm sure they're really similar to the other buttons too.

Darn, I was wondering if the Canada pavilion would have Olympic stuff and I was really excited about looking too. Bummer they didn't have anything. I am still kicking myself for not getting the Team USA Ralph Lauren moose hat (even though it was $75...). I checked on ebay and saw one going for $500. :headache::scared1:

I am such an Olympic junkie that I bought the DVD of the Beijing ones. I sort of had to with all the Michael Phelps stuff. ;)

Thanks, I can't believe we're coming up on ONE MONTH!

Your trip is coming up so fast! :woohoo:

I heard they cut away from the closing ceremony for that show. I can't remember if I even stayed up that late, I thought it was over after Michael Buble.

OMG I know! It was amusing listening to the announcers after he did his McTwist whatever-you-call-it trick. LOL. And I laughed when they showed a "candid" interview with him and he said it was going to be "freaky-deaky." :rotfl:

Wow. I just spent the past hour+ going through your PTR! I thought instead of being a lurker I will post and say hello to a fellow midwesterner. We are getting our Disney fix in October of this year.
