Day 5 EPCOT
We tried to decide what park we should visit again.
We were a little slow moving this day and mousekeeping caught us before we left. Brooke helped me answer the door and wanted to give her a hug! The woman was so nice and thrilled to hold Brooke. She had a 2 week old granddaughter and Brooke filled in if for only a few moments.
Animal Kingdom just did not seem to have anything that would work for Brooke besides maybe the walking tour and Safari. We figured she needed to be a little older to do well there. So, we went back to EPCOT.
Cindy went to ride Mission Space while Brooke and I went to the post show area. Brooke climbed around on the playground and then we sent a video email to ourselves (we have yet to be able to get it to load). Cindy was not as impressed with this ride as I was. We then went over to Imagination. In spite of what I thought would be a scary scene (the darkness, loud sound, whoosh of air from Figment) Brooke LOVED this ride. She followed Figment everywhere. See I told you this ride was improved! We then went to the post show area and this is where Brooke cut loose. She loved waving her arms and making Figment play music. She was bouncing on the sound pads on the floor and running around all over the room. We took a picture to email and that one worked!
We went shopping for Figment articles and found the one she wanted.
We then went back to Living Seas. She got to watch Dolphins and Manatees this trip and seemed to enjoy them as well. Again, the fish captured her attention.
We next tried to get her some coke samples. She giggled when the snow fell on her on our way to the samples. She was not interested in the drinks, so Beverly will have to wait (evil grin). We toured the World Showcase looking for a sit down meal before noon. None of them were available, so we headed back for lunch and nap. Cindy napped, I swam and read and Brooke recharged.
We booked a table for Spoodles to try something else and get a taste of the EPCOT resorts. We spent a little more time in EPCOT before dinner and bout a red slushie. That was perfect. And it blended in nice with her Brookes blue clothes!
While Spoodles seemed a nice place, our meal was uninspired. We did have some wonderful service, so it was not a loss, but we ate better during other times that week. We returned to EPCOT to ride Norway and just take in our last day at a park on vacation. It was nice, although I wish we could have stayed for Illuminations.
The bus ride home was a breeze. It seems just at the end, she figured out how to handle the buses.
We stayed up and watched some TV as Brooke had a burst of energy when we returned to the resort.
Day 6 Chef Mickeys and Relax
We had a breakfast at Chef Mickeys and nothing else planned this day. We were to leave the following day, so we wanted to soak in the last our vacation and get some relaxation in. We got up and headed for the Magic Kingdom so we could ride the Monorail to the Contemporary. This was a resort that had a real good rate equal to the one we paid at Port Orleans. We avoided it because I had a bad impression of the place. That was a bad decision on my part. We explored the place and it really seemed like a place we would have enjoyed. LISTEN TO YOUR TRAVEL AGENTS!!! Maybe next time
Anyhow, we explored with Brooke and asked to get in for breakfast early. Sure enough they did get us just as the patience wore out with Brooke. She was hungry this time, so an all you can eat buffet was helpful! She devoured a pancake, a waffle, some fruit, some scrambled eggs and glass of milk. Cindy and I ate well also! The characters were much better received this time by Brooke. She really took a liking to Pluto and grabbed his whiskers and giggled. She had a friend. What really got her excited was the party time the characters held when twirling napkins and making noise was encouraged. She figured out how to twirl the napkin and joined in on the fun. After a good breakfast we explored a bit more (we snuck into the California Grill, but dont tell anyone what a view!!) and then walked back to the Magic Kingdom to catch our bus. Back to the resort for nap (breakfast was more of a Brunch) and me to read by the pool.
After Brookes nap, we put her in her bathing suit and went to check out Ol Man Island at Port Orleans (the big pool area) and play in the water. We spent a good amount of time doing that and went back to our room to clean up for dinner. We decided we would go the low key route and eat dinner at Boatwrights there at Port Orleans. The menu appealed to us, so it seemed a good choice.
The ladies working here were all grandmothers or grandmotherly types. We were eating early, so the place was quiet. Brook played all the ladies and went from to another for attention. She gave them hugs, waves and smiles. We had dinner and Brooke ate pretty well. We asked to see the dessert selections. They did not have a menu, but rather the display tray. In the middle is this HUGE brownie ice cream sundae. Brooke saw this and gave the biggest surprised look on her face and screamed and yelled WHOA! We all lost it We threatened to go to Beaches and Cream but never did. I can only imagine that reaction So needless to say we got some ice cream. She was happy. More hugs and waves as we headed out. It was not the best meal, but it was a pleasant experience, so we count that positive.
We walked back to our room to pack and go to bed early. We had an early 5:45 pick up to get to the airport, so rest was in order.
