Our flight left Norfolk International Airport at 7:10 the morning of Jan 2nd. Boy, was it great to leave... they ended up with a foot of snow by the next evening!!!

We landed at 9:05 at MCO to warm, but rainy weather. Didn't matter to us... we were going to Walt Disney World!

After getting our luggage, and securing the rental car... )word to the wise...go over those rental cars thoroughly, as the body and interior is not always in the best shape, and make a note of everything, so they don't try to blame anything on you. We had a whole page of stuff!!!), we were on our way!

By 10:50 we were pulling up the the Contemporary Resort. The valet CM's and bell service was top notch, as were the CM's at the front desk. Luck was with us, and we were able to get into our room right away! We were in room 6317 in the South wing, overlooking a white sandy beach and Bay Lake. The cranes were all lined up on the rocks as if to greet us! After resting a little while, we were ready to explore the resort. We were very impressed with the grounds....very well maintained, as well as the interior...bright and cheery! We had a cocktail at the Outer Rim bar, and I visited the pin station, for my 1st of many pin purchases!

Off to DTDWS, as our plans included lunch, and Disney Quest. We ate at Wolfgang Puck Express. I will go into detail in the restaurant section, but suffice it to say the Mushroom, Mushroom pizza was fantastic. We ate on the covered terrace, which was nicely heated, and watched everyone dash from here to there in the pouring rain, with no umbrella or raincoat. The temperature had also dropped about 15 degrees by that time, as well.

One look at the line to go to Disney Quest told us that we would not be visiting there that day. I guess everyone else must have had the same idea... so we went back to our room for a short nap and a shower before dinner.

Dinner... oh my gosh!!! We rode the monorail over to the Grand Floridian. We had 5:20 PS for Narcoosee's. This is definitely one of the best meal experiences we have ever had! Our server was fantastic, and definitely went the extra mile, bringing 3 different Reisling wines to our table for us to decide which to have with dinner. Again, I will go into details on the restaurant board. The atmosphere was nice, and we were able to see the MK fireworks, as well as having a great view of the castle. This will definitely be on our list of restaurants to revisit!

After exploring the grounds of the Grand Floridian, we caught a bus to Downtown Disney. We wandered through a few shops, before going over to Pleasure Island. The music was a little loud for our taste, and again the castmembers went the extra mile and found earplugs for us so we could better enjoy our evening. We ended up spending most of the evening at the Adventurer's Club. We enjoyed many of the shows, and really loved Yvette the Maid, and Samatha's Cabaret. The later you stay, the bawdier the shows become... we had a fantastic time!

We returned to our room around 12:30 and collapsed in the bed... the only thing I can even think of that was slightly negative, was that the pillows at the Contemporary were not very comfortable...WL has them beat in that department!

It was a great beginning to a great vacation!

It sounds as though you had a great first day at WDW, in spite of the rain!

Can't wait to hear more about your adventures!

Don't you just love the pizzas at Pucks Express? That's one of my favorite lunch spots:D

Glad you had such a great time at Narcoosee's. It is one of our favorites as well.

What a busy first day!

Thanks for sharing:wave:
